And then Bingo! I see TWO tow trucks sitting on the opposite side of Route 7 blowing and waving and then a call... Steve confirming I'm their target - LOL! I reply in the affirmative and Steve says "we'll be right over". They sent two tow trucks - one to provide safety (as drivers appear to drive in drunken oblivion along that stretch of Route 7). Steve pulls up to load the Bimmer on the flatbed. Fully explains the loading/ towing process and how he'll ensure ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE to the Bimmer. I'm like (COOL!). Offers (and I accept) starting the car and gently loading onto the flatbed. Car taken care of [check]. Next - Steve ensures both my spouse and I have safe transport. My spouse with my daughter and me in the truck with Steve. Then the long ride to BMW of Fairfax (where my Bimmer will receive its usual expert attention by Elena Tanase and Robert Lolakas ). They've been great to talk to over the phone and they'll give you a time and price estimate right when you call. You get a link to watch the truck drive to you with an estimated arrival time. I called AAA, but had to go through the sign up process to get service, pay yearly fees ($144), plus an additional $4/mile to get towed, and so on. After being transferred and 15 mins of wasted time sitting in the 85-degree heat, I called other companies. Most were closed on a Sunday or for the holiday, but Dad's Towing answered! Joanna was honest, nice, and straight to the point in answering my questions- no beating around the bush. They quoted me $75 for the tow, $3/mile (cheaper than AAA), and said about 45 mins. I figured it'd be an hour, but 15 MINS later, the tow truck rolls up! Franklin jumped out, ready to help, sincere, and offering assistance. He covered any potential issues. I definitely felt relieved. He wasn't impatient, reckless, or a know-it-all like many automotive employees I've dealt with -- Franklin was willing to listen, answered thoroughly, and genuinely cared about my situation. I needed to change my flat tire, too, which was another $75, but Franklin offered to do it for free and used his tools - it was much faster and really helped me get back on the road quick! He efficiently retrieved my bumper and put my car up on the truck. I called for a Lyft while waiting as I needed to get to my destination while Felix was going to take my car to a body shop in Sterling, VA. It was freezing cold and we waiting in the truck cab. When I saw the Lyft was about 1000 feet away I got out of the cab, thanked him and waved him off. I said: " Don't bother waiting.... he's practically here." Well thank goodness Felix didn't listen to me. The Lyft driver ended up on the left hand shoulder while I was on the right hand shoulder of the beltway.... and there was about 4-5 lanes between us packed with morning rush hour traffic. I'm no Moses.... so I knew there was no way I was going to part that Red Sea. I looked back toward the tow truck and realized thankfully that Felix had the good sense not to listen to me!!!.....he had waited to ensure I got picked up safely. I ran back to the truck.... thanked him profusely.... called the Lyft driver and said "follow the tow truck and he will find a safe place to pull over." We proceeded further down the beltway giving the Lyft driver time to gradually move over to the far right lane at which time Felix pulled over on the shoulder (those beltway shoulders are pretty amazing... at least in that area) let me out and I safely got to my Lyft.
