Had the "Wally" the estimator out on Monday July 6th to get a quote for the removal of 3 trees,…read moretrimming a couple dead limbs, and grinding 1 stump. Work was needed quickly because one of the trees had split and we were afraid the other side might fall onto the house. Empire's estimator quoted $4,200 total and offered a date of 7/9 for the work. We were happy with the amount and Wally seemed like a nice guy, so we cancelled all the other tree services that were scheduled to come give quotes. The quote was accepted within the hour and the work was scheduled for 7/9. We were given an arrival window of 9:30-10:30. We rearranged our schedules and made arrangement with work to be available for the appointment. The day of the scheduled service no one showed up at the scheduled time and after a couple texts telling us things were running behind, the crew did not show up until 1pm. Then the estimator came up to the door and said that they couldn't do the job for the estimated price anymore, and now it would be $4,200 to remove only 2 of the trees and grind the stump, and they could lightly "trim" the third tree they were supposed to remove. We had an agreement for $4,200 for the work that Empire's own estimator came out and gave after inspecting the requested work, and then Empire refused to honor their own quote and would only do a partial job for the quoted price. We sent them away and now we're starting over on finding a tree service that will actually stand by the agreed upon price. Empire has a poor way of doing business, would not recommend to anyone.
