I just bought some color pigment in sealed plastic bags yesterday, which turned out to be not quite the right color (based on comparing the color chart to the wall I intended to use it on). I returned it in the sealed new condition today: I was at first told that it would just be an exchange, but I should get one of the workers to take the material in, get the paperwork that it was returned and then I could get the right color. When I got back to the sales floor two minutes later, I was informed by someone else that they would charge me 20% restocking fee, because that applies to all returns. That was previously undisclosed, and some folks in the store seem to handle it differently, because I overheard a discussion between two of them that indicated that they had planned on just exchanging it, but the lady who's name I didn't get, but who was proud of having learned a bunch of german curse-words that she likes to try on her coworkers (based on her own comments the previous day), had decided that I was getting charged the restocking fee, because I had not bought it the same day, I had bought it the night before. Really? After that, it turned out that they didn't even have the color that I wanted to get. Not exactly a good first impression of a store. Needless to say, I am not going back to that store and will take my business elsewhere. read more
