UPDATE: After my recent visit and review of this nail salon, Jenny (the owner) graciously reached out and offered to do my nails again, give me money off, and refund me my money. She basically offered anything under the sun for me to remove my review. While I appreciate this kind gesture, unfortunately, I just can't risk this on my nails again. In addition, I have received a number of messages requesting I take my review down because of the negative impact on her business and therefore her family. This I do not appreciate. When Jenny initially reached out she offered $20 off to return and have my nails redone. I asked that she use that $20 and offer the next customer to walk in $20 off their service instead. Yelp is a place where people offer feedback on their experience at a business. The below review, is based SOLELY on my experience. I am sure that Jenny is a skilled technician and I appreciate her desire to make this right, so I have updated my review to 3 stars and recommend you ask specifically for her. Now, Jenny, please stop messaging me. Thank you.
I will start by saying that I tried this place when it first opened and received a good pedicure. I did, however, return to my regular nail salon. I returned to get a gel manicure and pedicure yesterday because I was unable to get into my regular salon that day. J&A had a good color selection. There is no price list to be found anywhere either.
Gel manicure: she left my nails soaking for so long my nail beds were burning. They soaked for the entire duration of a pedicure. When removing my previous gel manicure, she used a nail file and filed my already thing and brittle nails down to nothing. there was no tip to file because she'd already done that by filing my nail beds which then made any length I did have to my nails, break. Within 7 hours, 2 nails already began to peel. The polish is done in an extremely sloppy manner. Final clear coat didn't cover the entire nail, very thin layer of color.
Pedicure: I had high hopes for this one, as it started off relatively good. Then it went down hill. She dug so deep into my toes it was painful. She cut one toe so short that it still is sore. Mind you, she has no business cutting my toenails with out asking...and in fact, they did not need to be cut. Now I have a crooked and sore big toe nail. The massage was 2 minutes long.
While getting my pedicure, a woman came in who had received what I believe was a gel manicure the day before. She was very upset that her nails were breaking and tried explaining it to the technicians. I thought to myself, ehhh maybe she (the customer) did something to cause them to break....wellll after my experience, I fully agree that this nail salon was the reason her nails were broken and sore.
While the nail technician was doing my nails, she asked if I had children. I said no. She continued to talk about how much of a burden children can be making me extremely uncomfortable, considering she has no idea any circumstance I may have regarding having a child. I kept responding by saying you need to be patient with children. She continued to say you can't do fun things when you have kids. I wanted to get up and leave. At another point she tried to pressure me into trying the dip colors. I had to state 3 times I do not like it or how it looks. Her response each time, "sometimes you need to try something new." At this point I could not wait to leave! read more
