Took my car here after check engine light came on +a/c not working. Was advised needed a thermostat/fan ($600) although I had the parts ok no problem. has good ratings on yelp so I know he will do a good job. Right? Wrong had to take it back one month last same issue+ this time I took it to the dealer for diagnostics . Guess what they said and I showed him in writing: ac fan not working olus thermostat needs to be replaced. After waiting for 3 hours he said it was fixed and honored the 3 month warranty. I tried showing him the paperwork from the dealer and was told to disregard the check engine light and if it is not working this time it's the engine. Needless to say I'm filing a complaint w/ bbb and will seek civil penalties. Oh yea when I got there to pick up my car the first time after telling me the cost was $600 it was now $1000 so yea do what you will with that. NEVER AGAIN. I'm like these gotta be paid actors. read more

I advise everyone to boycott this repair shop. Mr. Diep is dishonest and scams his customers. I used to go there for repairs many times because someone at the shop recommended it. About a year ago, I went there again for a repair, and he said my Honda's transmission was leaking and that I risked the engine dying on the road. He then convinced me to buy a white 2003 Honda from his body shop. After driving it for only one day, the warning lights kept flashing. I went back and forth three times, trying to return the car, but he refused. I bought the car for $3,400 USD. He only reduced the price by $100. Later, the "check oil" light kept coming on. When I took it back for repair, he said, "There's nothing wrong, no oil leak." I took the car to both a Honda dealership and CarMax for inspection, and they both said the car had many issues. Mr. Diep is a dishonest and unethical businessman who sold me a car that was practically falling apart. Later, when I bought car insurance, the agent said the car had been a total loss and the title was marked "rebuilt salvage." Mr. Diep, dishonest business practices won't last. Karma will catch up to you, and your daughter will bear the brunt of your actions. read more

I took my 2020 F150 that has never been to a mechanic, and I change my own Oil to J&A Auto repair. They identified a turbo tube that was broken. They said they could not find parts and I should take it home order parts and bring back when I had them. I ordered parts and when I returned they were closed for a long weekend. The parts were easy enough to install so I continued to install them. To my surprise all my bolts were missing and my engine cover was missing. I returned to ask for my parts once the shop was open again and they denied ever removing the parts. When you can clearly see where there's a cleaner area where the engine cover was. The owner stated to show him a picture of the engine before I took it to him. I didn't realize I had to photograph my engine before I take it somewhere. read more

Visited this shop for an issue with ignition coil and the fix did not last. I went back to get my car looked at again and the owner acted like he never worked on it. I told him to look in his system and he said he does not document his customers visits. His system seemed outdated and only showed results from 2017. He then told me "I don't like when customer say the same thing wrong" and went on to get frustrated at me when all I wanted was my car looked at and fixed. If the same thing is wrong then that's what I must say right? Well I don't know why I didn't before, but once I was told he wouldn't fix my car, I lifted my hood to look, while calling around for a mobile mechanic. To my discovery they had zip tied my ignition coil down. They never mentioned that this was the method they used and told me that replacement parts were included initially. Not only did they lie and cheat but they charged me $240 for it. I'm not the type to put up a big fight but I thought it necessary to leave this review. I feel played and bamboozled. I'm young with not much money to spare and it sucks to be misled and mistreated by people you spend your hard earned money with. God doesn't like ugly. Learn from me and at least make sure they are actually doing the work you are paying for. read more

I have been going to Diep at J&A for over 21 years. He opened his shop in 1998 and I have been coming to him since 1999 when I got my license! Diep is honest and a very good mechanic. His shop pinpoints my car issue and charges me fairly every time. read more

I have a year 2000 Honda and J&A is an expert with this older car. I am also on a fixed income and need a shop that doesnot charge an arm and a leg and J&A fits this need when it comes to the dreaded bill. I was in their shop today seeking a power steering fix from another shop that didnot complete the job but J&A made quick work that got me back on the road with a well running car. I feel fortunate to have access to Diep and crew over at J&A. read more

Best place to get your car repairs done. Customer since 2001 and still happy. Price is very reasonable compared to other places.

Dip and his team of mechanics provide great service at reasonable prices. We keep coming back for over five years because when they fix our car it stays fixed. We recommend their honest and cost effective auto repair service. read more

A complete GEM!!!!! I took my 2019 Jeep in because I heard a weird noise. Diep stopped what he was doing and took it on a test drive to actually SEE what the problem was instead of charging me ridiculous diagnostic fees. Highly highly recommend this place!! read more

My son brought his car in with a firm belief that it needed a new clutch. Diep took the car for a drive and told him there was nothing wrong. Didn't even charge for the evaluation. J&A is a first class repair facility and they do amazing work. In a world where people are constantly trying to rip you off, J&A is a refreshing change. When I have needed repairs, J&A has performed them rapidly, correctly, and at a fair price. I will not use any other service (and neither should you!) read more

I have come to dep for years. Helped me a lot. I have had many issues with different cars and he has been able to help.

J&A has maintained three of my cars over the years. They're very good at diagnosing what's going on with your car, they won't gouge you or upsell the job. Always quality work for a reasonable price. Taking a car there in the morning. read more

Diep is the best! He replaced the alternator on my car and a brake light. I was uncomfortable driving in the snow/ice so he offered to drop my car off at my house. I am so grateful for the superb service he provided. read more

J & A Auto is a great Auto shop located on Jupiter Rd. in Richardson, TX. The owner Diep is very nice and very helpful. Has helped me with my old car and has always given me a great price and I know for sure he has not charged me as much as he should but it has helped me a great deal because most auto shops charge you way too much for everything. Diep is always fair and I really appreciate it and always does great work! read more

By far the best mechanics I've ever done business with. They always find a way to work with you to get you in as soon as possible. Their prices are the most affordable. When calling around for quotes, I can never find anyone else who beats their prices. Always the best bang for my buck. Service is amazing. Never had any issues post service. Seriously the best all around! read more

You can stop looking for a mechanic right now. No one will beat Diep's prices, no one will beat his customer service and no one will beat his honesty. A few bullet points from personal experiences... - Diep has always contacted me about repairs before charging me when I leave my vehicle. - Diep has always charged me what he quoted me---that is, unless he lowered the price from the original quote. (This has actually happened! $500 down to $400!) - My brother's car's belt squeaked after leaving J&A after a replacement. The next business day, he fixed it, no questions asked. - My friend needed his trunk latch fixed. The part didn't exist. One of Diep's guys fabricated a part for the trunk with a welder. It took a few hours. My friend was charged what he was originally quoted. His trunk still works like a charm. - They had a guy from the shop drop me off at my house once when I couldn't get home. Super clean car. I wasn't surprised. I could go on. Seriously. Take your car to Diep at J&A. You will not regret it. read more

Diep is absolutely incredible to work with! He has always been 100% transparent, helpful and fair priced with everything. I cross-checked all his pricing online and with different shops and he has always been the best. He even sent me pictures when I asked. It's so hard to find an honest, hard working auto-repair guy and I'm happy we found him when we moved here. I'll never go elsewhere as long as I'm in Texas. read more

The owner of this shop will go out of his way to make sure you spend only what you need to fix your vehicle. After running the Lexus through the diagnostic test. He would find all sorts of stuff that I already knew was going on with the vehicle. Starting only with essentials, we completed the repair and allowed to vehicle to pass inspection and at the same time resolve all issue at minimum cost. I think Lexus was wanting something like 3k for the repair which ending up costing me a little over 500 to repair. read more

I was told by a friend that lives in this neighborhood that this shop is honest and fair. They were right. 5 Stars I've already brought my girlfriend's car her too, with an electrical problem. Mr. Diep fixed that too! I'd give these guys 6 Stars if I could ! read more

Me and my fiancé took our truck up here to get the AC fixed. We paid $650 and they didn't fix our ac at all. They replaced a wrong part when we took it back they told us they would make it right. When we picked up our truck again they expected us to pay an additional $850 because they didn't fix the original problem. I am very dissatisfied. I will never be returning. Not to mention they are very unprofessional and yelled at my fiancé about it. read more

Another excellent experience! Diep and his team at J&A are the best in the business. Fast, honest, dependable. Words you don't usually use in the same sentence as "auto repair". Took my Jeep Grand Cherokee late this morning because the engine light game on. Lots of things can go wrong with a 4-wheel drive SUV, and I was braced for a big repair bill. They did a complete inspection, found nothing wrong, and didn't charge me a cent. Other places would have told me my blinker fluid and matter/anti-matter reactor were shot and would have to be replaced for $500. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! read more

Came here because I was recommending J&A to a friend and wanted to show them the reviews, but I suppose I'll add in my own two cents while I'm here. My very picky, curmudgeonly dad has always done about 98% of all our auto repairs because he's a former mechanic/current electrical engineer - even full engine replacements! But whenever he didn't have the manpower or equipment for a repair, he called in Mr. Diep for reinforcements. This is the only place he ever trusted, and so do I. I've always been treated fairly here. Honest diagnoses, honest pricing, and honest work. Pricing has always been equal or lower to the standard price (you can look around online to find general ballpark pricing ahead of time). I had some front-end clunking that didn't resolve with alignment or balancing or rotating the tires, and I kept getting the answer that nothing was wrong, that is was just random clunking. But I didn't trust that I was safe until I went to J&A for a third opinion and they said the same thing (I had gone to an alignment/front end shop and a discount tire first). They could have lied and said they found something, but they didn't. And another thing: when I took the car to them for some other random issue and they came back and told me that in addition to the original problem, the timing belt was also looking mighty worn, I trusted them. And indeed it was badly worn, so I feel confident that they generally look out for their customers. They don't advertise at all that I know about, they really rely on the word of mouth, so it figures that they'd be honest. read more

Honest. Very reasonable prices. My car had "check engine" light on. Took it here and was told the air mess flow calculator is defected. They charged me $260 for parts and labor. On the same day I took my car, I asked them to check the lights inside of the gages as some of them are off. Got a quote to replace lights inside of gages for $350-$500 at other places; this place charged me $100 for it - including part and labor. Very satisfied with the quality of work and customer service. One less star as they forgot to give me a call and deliver my car before the end of business day. As they needed the part, they asked me if I'm going to pick up the car and re-drop it on the next day OR keep it in the shop until the next day. I chose the former one and asked them to pick me up (when asked before dropping the car, they said they would give me a ride to- and from- work). They said they would give me a call when things are slowing down. They never did. I called them 5 times between then and the next day - just to get the busy signal. So, I had to ask for a ride after work and before work to others. So, one less star for that. read more

Best mechanic you'll find in the area - Diep is great and straight to the point. Really appreciated their help on my VW Eurovan and they showed me the issues when other mechanics couldn't even find it read more

Moving here from out of town always brings about the dilemma of finding a good, trusted mechanic. I rolled the dice on this one after seeing good reviews about it. And I'm glad I found this place! Mr. Diep, the owner, is a friendly guy that provides efficient and expedited service without compromising the quality of work. Granted I haven't need any major work done on my car (knocks on wood), but I know where to go. While waiting on my car, I met two of his tenured customers, one who has been coming here for 5 years and another for 10. They had nothing but great things to say about his service and promptness. Whether you're new to town or someone looking for a new mechanic, check this guy out. Call before coming in as he tends to get super busy. He will let you know the best time to come in so your waiting time is a minimum. read more

I am still a little shocked at this exchange with Diep - if you bring your car in just don't interrupt his lunch or he will send you away. I do not recommend this place at all. Extremely rude! Even the guy in the waiting area was shocked. read more

Listen up ladies! If you need a place that is honest and won't take advantage of you this is it. I was told my work was going to be $1000 elsewhere. Ended up paying $500 and that included a tune up. Have already referred my mother in law and she had a wonderful experience as well. read more

Literally, you can trust Diep which is the most important thing I look for in a mechanic. He diagnoses quickly - sometimes instantly - due to his experience and knowledge. He's recommended not to work on one of my cars because it would be cost prohibitive. Nothing is more convincing of trust than when he convinces me to put my money back in my pocket! read more

My mom discovered this place and several of my family's cars have been brought have been repaired by J&A due to the honesty and integrity of this business. When it was my turn for repair (brakes and rotors) I was quoted several hundred less then Firestone (even with one of their coupons!) and a few other local competitors. I live nearby so someone gave me a ride home. They got my car in right away & finished way before expected promise time. I will be taking my car here for all future needs!! I just cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Highly recommend!! read more

These mechanics couldn't even figure out what was wrong with my car after 3 days and told me to take it to the dealer or leave it there for a month. They also refused to pay for another tow truck. I had brought it in 2 days earlier because the service engine soon light was on and then 2 days later it just stopped working as I was driving it. They obviously didn't catch what was wrong with it. I would NEVER advise someone to go there. If mechanics can't even fix a car, what does that tell you about the mechanics? read more

Straight up honest and great mechanic. I had a problem with the check engine light on my car and after taking my car to a few places, i decided to use yelp. I got this shop and Mr. Diep, the owner was very professional, fast and above everything else, charged me less than half the amount i was quoted by three different places. I highly recommend that you use him for your next auto repairs. Call first and ask him the best time to go see him as he tends to be very very busy. read more

I've been coming here for over a year now. My car gives me nothing but problems, and going to a mechanic can be such a nerve-racking process cause you don't know if you're being ripped off and if they're trying to suck money from you. Thanks to J&A I walk in confidently knowing that they will fix what's needed for a reasonable price and that they'll be honest on the things you can wait to fix later. The best part is that, as a woman, I can walk in and not feel like a piece of meat by the other workers. Any woman reading this knows that is huge! Highly recommend them! read more

Had a bad experience. Would not recommend this company. Had a rear main seal leak on my jeep instead of fixing the problem the first time they told me that changing the oil pan gasket would be the cheapest easiest way which was $250. So I trusted them because I'm not a mechanic and of course that didn't fix the problem so I still have the same issue. I wasted $250 and still have the same problem. They told me they would fix the rear main seal which why would I take it to someone that I don't trust anymore. Instead of fixing the problem they try to fix multiple things to make more money. I know as a customer that's what I try to avoid in mechanics. So please read this and save yourself trouble and go somewhere else. read more
