I can't stress enough how impressed I was with Jay and the whole team at J Albrecht Designs. I was looking for a truly local custom jeweler and definitely found that in their shop. I initially went in to get a custom engagement ring made for my fiance. I was using the diamond from my great grandmothers ring and had a very rough idea of what I wanted from there. Laina and Jay took the time to help me figure out what it was I wanted to do and helped me build a unique ring that my fiance absolutely loves. Throughout the whole process I felt that they had my best interest at heart and were never looking to just make a quick sale or unnecessarily up-sale. We have since gone back to get both of our wedding bands there. I made mine out of pieces of my fathers and grandfathers wedding bands and once again they were amazing to work with. Every time you walk in you are greeted with a warm authentic welcome. I would highly recommend them for any of your jewelry needs. read more

The beautiful pieces you will find anywhere. Custom pieces. Highly unique. Exquisite quality.

Super nice staff. I had a a consultation appointment to talk about making a custom engagement band, and Xander had prepared very thoroughly, looking through my email chain with the store (which was with a different staff member) and my pinterest board I had sent over. The staff was very accommodating about my kids being there. My friend and another staffer hung out with them, they were ok with my kids eating some snacks and sitting on the floor. They even talked to my kids about jewelry. I didn't end up going with J. Albrecht despite being very interested with several of their designs (which range from modern to more classic) because I found something closer to me that had a much lower price point. read more

For my 10th anniversary, my husband and I worked with Laina and her team to redesign my wedding ring. I was so pleased with the results that I've since worked with her on two additional pieces. Each time, I've brought in a variety of old family jewelry and Laina has worked with me to turn those keepsakes into new treasures. She has great instincts and I could not be more pleased with the results. Thanks to their work, I have modern pieces of jewelry I wear all the time, instead of pieces I occasionally glance at in a jewelry box. read more

I've been doing business with Jay and the family for almost 10 years now. I highly recommend this team! From our first engagement ring, to some very special heirloom quality pieces that we expect to be in our family for generations to come. This is the place to go!! read more

So Hubby and I had my engagement ring made for me by a jeweler in west Denver, who did a bang up job. He made it the wrong size, twice, fixed the shank incorrectly and the casting has at least one large crack in it. Swell! We only knew about half of what he had done wrong until we got it appraised. Didn't hurt the value, just his reputation and his business. Anyway, we came to Master Goldsmiths to have them take a look at my wreck of a ring. I was hoping there would be some way to fix or recast the setting. They worked patiently with me while we got the design just right, added a wedding band design, and were extra patient while I hemmed and hawed over white gold versus platinum. Master Goldsmiths also had a way to fix the ring but the evil-bad jeweler had used sub-standard platinum so I figured it was best to scrap it and start fresh. They made my mom a beautiful platinum solitaire ring while I was going through my designing process. The platinum Master Goldsmiths used has held up FAR better and retained it's shiny qualities better than my ring has. read more

There are not many custom jewelry stores that have exactly what Jay and his team can offer. If you need a custom ring because you have a picture in your mind that needs to come to life, they will help you achieve it and more. Jay helped my husband design a ring and pick out a stone for our engagement last year. The ring completely knocked me off my feet when he proposed, right down to a custom engraving on the inside of a single wing. I have returned to j. Albrecht for his ring and for cleanings and refinishing and they have always made me feel special. I have sent other friends to them for engagement rings and heard nothing but positive responses back. I can't imagine referring friends anywhere else in the entire state of Colorado. . . read more

J. Albrecht Designs - my beautiful custom engagement ring designed by my very own husband! - Jewelry Near Me - Boulder, Colorado

As a custom, focused, professional design shop with premier goldsmiths in residence, this is now where I go exclusively. I've found incredible pieces that I can afford, and there are many high end options for others. I thoroughly enjoy my shopping experiences with the help of Jay, his wife, and Chrissie ( also an awesome goldsmith!), plus the rest of the helpful team. For heirloom quality Art Deco, modern, Boho, and vintage style choices, they are the BEST! I'm sure they also assist with design ideas of your own, as well! Assume nothing! Just go and enjoy! read more

I have to agree with all the previous reviews. Jay and the whole staff are uber friendly, and go out of their way to help make your designs possible. I first met Jay when my sister got her engagement ring. He redid a necklace of mine that was not just me, and transformed it into a beautiful piece that I wear everyday. Coming to think about it, I think most of my jewelry is from Jay! Unbeknownst to me, my fiance went there for my engagement ring (after recommendations from my sister and her husband). My fiance is not the type who likes going into jewelry shops, but Jay is such an easygoing guy who made him feel comfortable in shopping for a ring. I get compliments all the time on my engagement ring. Jay and his shop can do anything from super elaborate to simple and classic. He makes a mold of the ring from your design or concept, and then digitalizes it so you can see exactly how it is going to look. This is my favorite part when we were getting our wedding rings because I was able to see a mock up of my engagement ring next to my wedding ring. read more

My fiancé and I got a custom engagement ring made in Hawaii and needed to find a place in Boulder that could make a custom wedding band to match/fit. We went into several Boulder jewelry stores and J Albrecht was automatically our favorite. The store itself is beautiful and we got a great vibe as soon as we entered. We met Laina first and then worked with Jay for most of the process. What a great couple and family run business! They worked quickly, carefully, and made us feel so comfortable through the entire process. They're prices are similar to other quotes we got in Boulder but the experience was top notch - will definitely be returning down the road! read more

My wedding set is a family ring and is one of the few material things I'm sentimental about. My grandmother and Mom both wore it and I've worn it for nearly 25 years. When it needed repair, I didn't want to take it to just any jeweler. At a friend's recommendation, I took it in to J Albrecht. They recommended a complete refurbishment and I couldn't argue. It hadn't ever had much maintenance work done and they came so highly recommended, I trusted their judgement. I just got it back today and the results are AMAZING! It looks like new and I can't stop staring at it. I keep catching myself casually flashing my left hand to show it off like a newlywed. I so wish my grandmother could see it! read more

As mentioned by other reviews this place is different from your run of the mill jewelry store. Here is what distinguishes them from anywhere else I have been. -Treat customers with respect: I did not know very much about diamonds and jewelry when I went in and yet Jay never once talked down to me. He explained everything and made getting my wife's engagement ring a pleasant experience. -Good Prices: I have bought a few things and everything is priced very fairly. -Service: They really stand behind their work. I have never worked with anyone who stands behind their product more than these guys. When a diamond came lose, it was replaced, no questions asked or guilt trip. -Unique: They have elegant and modern pieces that you will not find in any other jewelry store. I can not recommend this place enough! It is so different than any other jewelry buying experience I have had. PS - They have moved and are now up in Boulder off the Pearl Street mall read more

I travelled across the country looking for a jeweler to create a unique and timeless setting for my engagement & wedding ring. I looked at hundreds, if not thousands of designs and kept running into standard looking replicas of the sort of designs, none of which felt personal to me or my own tastes. Until one day I was walking down Pearl Street & happened upon J Albrecht. I thought I had seen everything in the Denver/Front Range area but as soon as I walked in I knew these were the designers I wanted to work with. Hawk & his team were so helpful & keep us up to date about the progress from start to finish! I couldn't be happier with the service and my ring! I got the custom ring that i had been searching for. The end product was a piece that has classic elements that will last a life time but has a complete uniqueness that suits my own style. Thank you! read more

Jay created my custom wedding ring, and I absolutely love it!! We are so happy we decided to go local with this big purchase. My fiance got his band from Jay, too, and he assured us that he can re-size it anytime, as needed. Our experiences at other jewelers left us feeling overwhelmed and unimpressed, but all of our interactions with Jay and Laina were efficient and professional. They have lots of custom designs in the store, and will also work with you to design the ring of your dreams. I chose one of Jay's designs, but then he tweaked it a bit to make it fit beautifully with my engagement ring. Stop by J. Albrecht designs when you are on Pearl street in Boulder, and you will immediately see that this is not your average Jeweler. Definitely a cut above! read more

J and Lana are awesome - they do what they do incredibly well - modern, simple designs. We designed custom wedding rings with them, and get compliments all the time. If you like Kay Jewelers, this place probably isn't for you, but if you're looking for pieces you won't or can't find anywhere else, go here. read more

Laina, Hawk, & Jay are phenomenally talented. Like most couples, my fiancé and I want our rings to represent who are. While shopping for rings, we continued to stumble upon generic jewelry or pieces that were far too rough for our taste. We were welcomed into J. Albrecht by Hawk who showed us all the fabulous pieces they have designed. I fell in love with a bezel setting for my engagement ring and, of course, many other unique, timeless pieces. My ring is stunning. So stunning, in fact, we decided to have our bands designed by the team as well. We were able to customize the width and finish of the bands. Hawk continues to remind us that we are welcome to stop in any time we're down Pearl to have our rings refinished. Unique. Professional. Talented. These guys continue to wow us. read more

I had my engagement ring made at j.Albrecht and I can assure you that I will be going back for all of my jewelry in the future, including our wedding bands. Let me start by saying I went to all of the jewelry stores in Boulder, researched some individual jewelers, and looked at all the major websites. I went with j.Albrecht because I felt the most comfortable with them. They were easy and fun to work with, created my ring under the time I had thought, and were more than willing to work within my budget. They exceeded all of my expectations. I almost went to another jeweler first and am really happy that it ended up not working. I've had my ring for over a month and just can't stop admiring it - I'm really grateful to everyone at j.Albrecht for making it all happen. I thought at some point, when I could afford a 'better' ring, I would upgrade, but there is NO WAY I will even think about doing that. The custom design they made for me is gorgeous, classic and is certainly something I will never want to change. If you're thinking about going to their store, or working with them online, do not hesitate, you'll be really happy that you did. They are truly great to work with. read more

In a world dominated by immoral corporate interests, automated call centers and cheap disposable products, I am proud and, arguably, obligated to write this review. My experience with Jay began 10 years ago during my quest for a wedding band. At the time Jay was managing a jewelry store in Superior and introduced me to the work of a designer in California. I was enamored by the product's aesthetics and further enchanted by the company's policy to refit the ring if and when my fingers began to slender with age. The years crept by and my hands began to loose their robustness leaving me with a wedding band that spun on my finger unimpeded. It was time to call Jay. Unbenounced to me, however, Jay had left his prior post to open J.Albrecht Designs and, despite the decade long communication lapse, he received my phone call with the same warmth and hospitality as the day we met. Jay explained that the Californian ring designer who had promised me a refitting had gone belly up. I grew weary of a resolution. Jay asked if I had retained the receipt from my purchase from his prior post. I had not. I grew wearier. This is the point where a proprietor proves their meddle. Rather than a shrug and an apology, Jay insisted that I ship him the ring immediately and he would work on a solution. Within the week, Jay called me back to inform me that he found another designer who could replicate my ring's design in an appropriate size. Reluctantly I inquired what the cost would be... Silence on the line... "Nothing. It's my pleasure" Jay replied. I haven't had the pleasure to see Jay in 10 years nor darken the door of his new establishment. In my mind's eye, however, I would expect the experience to be like time travel where I would find myself in a sepia toned world where men stand across a counter and shake hands over a deal well struck... Where a business owner's commitment to customer satisfaction is not a bullet point on a website but instead an oath based on integrity and dedication to his wears. Jay will forever be 'my jeweler' and the first recommendation I utter to anyone interested in my advice. read more

I bought a ring off of an online jeweler and while I was very satisfied with their service and the product the ring seemed a little big and bulkier than I had anticipated. This was my wedding band (men's) so I wanted it to fit perfectly. I did some searching around online and thought I would try j. Albrecht. I had been to Shane which had some good options but all seemed very pricey and a bit more old school in some cases. j. Albrecht had some more modern rings in steel, gold, silver, tungsten and platinum. We walked in and the review before mine was correct - they are very laid back and extremely informative. They have great prices and I like supporting the local guy instead of the chains. I decided on a great, simple steel ring that is made in Colorado. My previous ring was tungsten and while I liked it, it has to be made a bit thicker so wasn't as comfortable. In the end, I will recommend this company to everyone I talk to. I felt extremely comfortable making a quick decision and know that if I need any changes or something happens that they will help me out. They also cleaned my fiancee's ring while we waited. read more

Mesmerizing jewelry and warm nice staff. My engagement ring was designed by my (now) husband and created by the owner and was a wonderful surprise. I chose a simple wedding ring with a small sapphire stone that matched the large sapphire in my engagement ring. Very reasonable price for the unique styles and top quality. read more

I worked with J and his lovely wife Lana picking out my wife's engagement ring and our wedding rings. Their attention to detail and customer service was exceptional. When I picked out the engagement ring, I got exactly what I wanted and J respected my budget! My wife and I are so happy with our rings and he even resized it already at no extra charge! I just cannot say enough about the friendly, warm yet distinguished and professional staff at J Albrecht! Like another review below, I trusted my great grandmother's wedding band from the early 1900's to Jason and crew after settings were worn down and a diamond even fell out! The refurbished piece looks amazing and I imagine authentic to its original design. The price was very reasonable. I will continue to use this team for all of my heirloom jewelry needs and I picked out about five gorgeous, unique pieces that hubby is welcome to buy at any time;) Stunning jewelry selection. Thanks guys! read more

I cannot say enough positive words about our experience with J Albrecht Designs. I actually created a Yelp account just to write this review. From the moment that we walked off Pearl Street and into this local family-owned Boulder shop we knew this was exactly the right place for us to buy the rings we would be wearing for the rest of our lives. The handcrafted pieces are absolutely gorgeous and unique. The team is incredibly nice. The shop dog is adorable. A lot of jewelry stores makes you feel rushed, distrustful, and like money is the only thing that matters. Not once did we feel this way working with Jay. We spent two weeks asking questions, discussing options, asking more questions, and he was always kind, patient, and honest. In the end we walked out with a stunning, one-of-a-kind engagement ring for a fair price. This shop is as unique as the town it resides in and we look forward to working with them again and again! read more

Extremely friendly owner, made myself and Fiancé feel very welcome. He answered all of our questions, a genuinely pleasant experience.

I think this is one of Boulders finer jewelry stores. The owner has excellent integrity and professionalism.

Customer service is a lost art these days, but J Albrecht brings it back! Not only do they have incredible taste and classic designs, they are incredible to work with. They designed the engagement ring of my dreams and engraved my husband's ring for free. They always remember us when we walk in and make everyone feel special. So much love for these guys!! read more

We got both my engagement ring, which Hawk designed, and our wedding bands at J Albrecht and couldn't be happier. They were great with attention to detail and incorporating our requests. Whenever I am in Boulder I drop my ring off to get cleaned and they are always more than happy to do it promptly. We will definitely be life long customers! read more
