Great stop on a road trip. The tasting room is located inside of a gorgeous white barn as their name suggests. A husband and wife own this place and they couldn't have been more friendly and hospitable. They had. A nice selection of dry and some sweet wines so there was something for every taste. We each did a tasting and really enjoyed the Chardonnay and the Riesling. They also have a space here for events. It's beautiful so it's defiantly a perfect spot for that if you are in need. read more

We made it to the other side of the lake! Our adventure today took us to Izzo's White Barn Winery, a small but welcoming spot tucked into the beautiful Finger Lakes wine region. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We started our tasting with their unoaked Riesling, a bright and lively wine crafted from grapes grown along the shores of Seneca Lake. It had an enticing aroma and a clean, crisp finish that really highlighted the natural fruit flavors. Next up was the LaCrescent, a white varietal that was refreshingly dry with a subtle citrusy edge and just the right amount of acidity--perfect for sipping on a cool afternoon. After that, we moved on to the Cayuga White, a semi-sweet offering that had a beautifully smooth mouthfeel and a well-balanced sweetness, making it an easy favorite for those who enjoy wines with a hint of fruit-forward character. Finally, we wrapped up our tasting with the Maréchal Foch, a deep, dry red with rich notes of black cherry and a velvety smooth finish. This one stood out as a great example of how lesser-known hybrid grapes can still deliver bold and elegant flavors. During our visit, we had the pleasure of chatting with the owner (at least, we believe it was the owner!), who shared some insight into the winery's operations. He explained that they grow three to four different grape varietals in their own vineyards, while supplementing with additional grapes sourced from other vineyards throughout the Finger Lakes region. It was clear that there's a strong sense of community among winemakers in the area--he described it as a "big happy family" that collaborates to support each other through every step of the winemaking process. One of the most interesting tidbits we learned was about the live musician performing that day--not only does he provide entertainment for visitors, but he also plays a huge role in the winemaking process, handling 80-90% of the work at the winery! It was incredible to see such a hands-on approach, where passion for both music and winemaking came together in such a unique way. As for the owner himself, he had an infectious sense of humor--quick-witted, engaging, and full of personality, he made our experience even more memorable. The winery is relatively small and appears to have limited hours, especially in the winter when it's only open on Saturdays. If I remember correctly, they may extend to two days a week during the busier months, but it's definitely one of those hidden gems that's worth navigating to if you're in the area. All in all, Izzo's White Barn Winery turned out to be a fantastic stop, offering a delightful mix of great wine, warm hospitality, and local charm. We found this place just driving by back to our hotel, so on our way home we decided to stop. Have to say the owners are very friendly and very welcoming. There barn was the first building we came upon. It was decorated beautifully and they were having a shower. Very rustic and intimate. There tasting room is spacious. And it has an back porch to view the vineyard and the small lake. It was early in the morning on a Saturday, but they were very accommodating when do the wine tastings and very informative. I like that they spent the time to talk with us as we enjoyed their wines. If in the area, I would stop by it is a wonderful place. read more

A good variety of wines and incredible hospitality. We loved our visit! Purchased a couple of nice bottles of wine that the owner let us sample first. Stopped in while in the region and was greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the bar who offered me a flight for tasting, he only had to ask once! lol The wine selection was limited and all the wines had a very tannic taste to them which is not my thing(albeit may be yours!). If I had to choose a favourite I would have to go with the White Barn Red, very drinkable and easy on the palette and not so tarty as the other wines. One thing I did find very strange is that they had domestic beers (Bud, Miller, etc) stored in the beverage refrigerator and available for sale, this struck me as odd being that the main focus of the bar/drinking area should be in showcasing/pushing their wines and not domestic beers. Definitely stop in if you are in the area and give the wine list a whirl, everyone was very friendly. read more

Can't say enough about how wonderful Izzo's is. I cant remember the woman who helped us but my Wife and I were up a for a mini-moon and we stopped here because we saw this neat little barn on the roadside. We made the right choice stopping here. We were the only one's there and we spent about an hour here. We tasted a whole bunch of wines (all fantastic), especially the Cayuga White. We told her we were up for the week and she gave us a list of suggestions for restaurant, shops and other things to do. The list was so long we couldn't even visit them all. I stopped in at Izzo's at some point this past summer and did a wine tasting. The owners were very personable and easy to chat with. However, I was not overly impressed with their wines.I finally stopped out this past Sunday for the band event and it was a great time! Every Sunday in the summer they have a band playing from 3-6 p.m. This week they had The Prison City Rockers....a local favorite...playing in the barn. There is plenty of room for the band, seating upstairs and down, and a dance floor inside the barn. People can also hang out in front of the barn, on the back deck, on a patio between the barn and the winery, in the winery, out back of the winery, in the back yard, down by the pond, or at the gazebo. It is pretty there and it was a nice afternoon to hang out with friends and enjoy good music, food, and libations. You could get glasses of their wine, beer from a local brewery, water, or mass produced beers such as Bud Light. One of my friends said that the pork sandwiches were very good, but they were all gone by the time I arrived at 4:30. They also had hot dogs and chips, etc...Overall, it is a really fun time and I look forward to coming again to enjoy a band, a nice day, and hanging out with my friends. read more

Came here at the recommendation of another local winery owner. The barn and property are gorgeous. Would be a great setting for a wedding (a couple was planning theirs while we visited). Wines were decent for the finger lakes. They seem to be trying and putting a lot of dedication into their wine making. Lorraine was somewhat off-putting and standoffish at first, but opened up once she realized we knew our fair share about wine and were looking to purchase. You can get many better versions of the varietals elsewhere, but they have a few less popular wines that are worth a try. Bought the Noriet. Very nice steak wine. read more

First trip to the Finger Lakes. Did a day full of wineries before making it to Izzos. Was extremely impressed with the owners, wine, education and good old fashion customer service. Wow. That's what I have to say about Izzy's. I adore a winery that is down to earth and friendly and at the same time boasts an intense love of wine. I adore all hedonistic pleasures prepared with zeal and care, and a respect for the ingredients and wine really embodies the ultimate pleasure. We sampled several wines with generous pours, and walked out with five bottles of wine between us. I enjoyed a red with my friend Ruby, and a white that paralleled Gavi with its little exquisite bottles on a night in with another good friend of mine. When I'm back up in Syracuse, I guarantee you that Nelly, Diana and I will be back at Izzo's enjoying several great glasses of wine. read more
