After telling me the price, she looked me up and down and told me to "pay now". I was confused because every time I go there I never had to pay before getting a the service done. I thought to myself initially, okay no big deal maybe this is new? maybe someone ran out before paying?. Alice then aggressively asked me "how much do you want to tip". I was confused yet again because usually tip depends on how well the service went, in which I had not yet received having walked in 5 minutes ago. I told her I would tip $10, she sucked her teeth & I felt pressured to tip her more. So I said I will tip you $15 actually, assuming it was going to be a good service Based off past visits. I was wrong. She didn't ask me if the pressure was okay, she just started going in. What was supposed to feel relaxing ended up hurting. I have had many massages and trust me I can take pressure. But she was massaging me as if she was aggravated. When I spoke up and said "ouch that hurts, she proceeded with the same exact pressure I just expressed concern about", completely ignoring My discomfort. Heres the part where I realize I was racially profiled. This white man walks in (I heard his voice) and she immediately tells him which curtain to go behind. He did not have to pay before getting the service done. Same with the other white lady next to me. When she finished me up, I asked her why did she only make me pay first She held her breathe and said oh because those customers are returners and new clients pay upfront. I was confused because I've been there before. Maybe not consistently but I have been there atleast 7 times and no one has ever took a payment upfront. The problem isn't paying first, I was going to have to pay for the service regaurdless. The problem was the assumption that I couldn't afford a $70 massage, so to be on the safe side you charged me before providing me with the massage. if you're a POC go here at your own risk

I called and tried to explain that it is not really fair to take advantage of the elderly in this way and got nowhere. I wasn't asking for a refund or anything but they could have maybe taken some of the profit margin off - or something. It was frustrating. Our mom clearly cannot afford to spend that kind of money. So before you walk into the store, beware, be very ware.

Be careful! My…read moresecond appointment at La Suite was with a different esthetician named Iwona today at 3:00pm. Before she started, I informed her of my super-sensitive skin that reacts to everything, so I told her I could not have any harsh peels/exfoliations or electrical treatments performed on my face. I informed her that my dermatologist told me to use Cetaphil for sensitive skin as my skincare. Ywona said "okay, I will only do exfoliation treatment which is non-electrical and very good for your skin". I got hesitant and said: "let's not have any devices at all", but she interrupted and assured that "it is not a device, it is number 1 exfoliator on the market" and that she has been working for 29 years so she knows what she is doing. Ok. Ywona started the treatment and only then decided to inform me that it was not a regular step of the facial, but "oh, by the way, it is $125 extra". It is extremely unethical not to inform your client of this beforehand, especially when they do NOT ask for it! I told her that I came with a limited budget today and next time I will prepare better. She told me she would not charge me for this, so FINE. The rest of the facial felt rushed, the extractions were extremely painful to the point that I told her "it is okay if it is not ready to come out, just leave it, I don't mind". I have never had such painful extractions in 10 years that I have been getting facials. In the end, she put a warm towel to clean the mask off my face and my face was so irritated that it was burning from the contact with a towel so I told her that. I came home with leftovers of the cooling mask on my face. However, the WORST PART is that I spoke to my dermatologist and found out that this exfoliation should have NEVER been performed on my skin! First of all, it has to be performed by a qualified, experienced board-certified physician and the treatment has a list of contraindications (attached) which obviously did not concern Ywona. She never told me about them, never asked me if I take any blood-thinning oral medications (which I DO!), never told me it was bad for people with rosacea (which I DO have), or for people with moles (which I DO have on my cheeks), neither has she shared ANY of the details of the treatment, which turned out to be a SCRAPE OF A SCALPEL on my sensitive skin!!! Is $125 really more important than health and safety of your clients? Hope my unfortunate experience will help people be better informed before they come to this place.

I asked for a relaxing Swedish Massage, and the therapist was not listening and kept hurting me as she treated my body like bread dough, as if she was hurriedly 'kneading bread.' She had no technique, no finesse, just kept rubbing in a random way as if she'd never had professional training. She was causing me pain and I kept telling her to go softer and slower, as I couldn't relax and would stiffen up my body since she was hurting me. She even forgot to do some areas. I tipped her anyway because of the time she spent on me, but certainly didn't deserve it. the whole thing was a waste of time and money. I never got the services I asked for, yet they're still deducting my money from my checking account. So Buyer Beware, if this is how they treat potential customers, I can only imagine how they treat actual customers.
