This is the most poorly run of the local Massage Envy locations. I stopped using them for a for almost 2 years because they kept cancelling appointments on me month after month leaving me with a significant number of unused credits as a result. I returned only recently to be repeatedly frustrated again. They have twice confirmed my 90 minute massage appointments that were booked a month or more in advance only to downgrade them to 60 minute appointments at the last moment; they didn't even tell me they did so the first time and then today they text 2 hours before my appointment to tell me they downgraded me to a 60 minute appointment because the provider doesn't do 90 minute massages despite having 6 weeks to tell me this. I will not return to this location and I advise you to seek out a different location if you want hassle free quality spa services. read more

Beware of this scam! They sold us a year membership with 12 prepaid massages, and then I got hurt a couple of months into the membership. I went to them asking if I could freeze it with medical documentation and they told me "no problem" and that the credits for the massages would not expire (They confirmed this on multiple occasions). So I let myself heal, and then began to use it. They then tried to fraudulently charge my credit card when I booked an appointment for a massage that was prepaid, I continuously called to ask to speak to a manager about the fraudulent charge and never got a call back (Even though they always told me a manager would call me back), and now they're saying that the credits only didn't expire if I continued to pay high monthly fees (something not a single person told me before this). Owner, Jennifer Travis, literally just assaulted me in their location when she had my property in her hand and I tried to take it back. Extremely unprofessional, stay away at all costs! Massage Envy Rye Brook earns 2 stars for my last visit because of the operations and not the masseuse. For reasons that did not make sense, my 90 min massage was held in the "facial room", a large room in which the temperature was cold and the air conditioner blew for more than 20 minutes at a time and at such a volume that I couldn't hear the music playing. The temperature was so cold that I had to ask for additional blankets and for the mattress pad to be at the highest level. My toes were cold throughout the massage, and the masseuse was extremely apologetic, explaining that work in this room typically were under these subpar, cold conditions. When I explained the experience in response to "how was your visit?", the woman at the desk told me that she thought to check the air conditioner an hour after opening (60 min into my visit), and at that point turned it down. Checking the temperature of the rooms was not part of her opening business protocol. This review doesn't stop me from returning to this location, however I made quite clear that if I was in that room again with that temperature I would not continue the appointment and not pay a cancellation fee, as massage envy was failing and delivering the promised experience. read more

1 Hour massage is not 1 Hour. They will talk for 10 minutes at the beginning even though you are a repeat customer and explain exactly what you want. They will end 10 minutes early and tell you the last 10 minutes is redressing time. Seriously!!! They make you pay for 10 minutes of them talking and 10 minutes for you to dress? Massage was not special either. If you want a great massage that is truly an hour for $45 go to Yin Yang Foot Spa in Mamaroneck. What i thought would be a relaxing experience turned out to be nothing but a headache. Getting the same preferred professional was always an issue. During a pandemic they continued to charge your credit card when the place was closed. And if the place closed because of the pandemic they would not reimburse customers who were continued being charged monthly. Also, hour sessions were not hour long when they talk for 10 mins prior. Less than 48 hours prior I get a call from them saying they need to cancel one of the massages due to a therapist being out! I was beyond pissed off! Can't they find a replacement therapist! Actually got 2 massages in the month of october so far and they charged me a 3rd last week saying those were not in my billing month. Manager was totally rude, just kept repeating rehearsed answer. I had a couples massage scheduled that my husband and I looked forward to for months. We hired a sitter and made it over to our appointment. Mysteriously our sessions were cancelled and the staff had no clue how that happened. We showed the staff members the confirmation emails that we received a few days before from them confirming our appointment date and time, and yet they had no explanation as to how our couples massage was cancelled. We asked to cancel our membership, but they ask that the manager call us to "work something out" before we terminated our membership. It took the manager Norma two days before we heard from her. She didn't offer anything worth keeping the membership, and we ended the membership with massage envy. Very unprofessional, especially for a reputable company. When I booked the massage, I was not told that the charge was higher than my home location. At all other locations with a similar situation, I have always been told BEFORE I scheduled the massage that I would need to pay the difference. I will not be returning. Just be aware of this, especially since I don't see any reason why Rye Brook should be more expensive than the locations I visit elsewhere, in much nicer neighborhoods. My bf was a member and had a very bad experience with Massage Envy in Shrewsbury NJ, he was being charged for months when he tried to stop his membership. After months and many phone calls and emails (and a bad yelp review from him) management agreed to transfer 5 massages that he paid for to me because he did not want to go back there. At my first appointment at the Rye location I was told these 5 vouchers do not expire. Staff was friendly and Jason gave me a really good massage, I tried to book my next session and couldn't get another appointment for 6 weeks! At my next appointment same experience, staff friendly, very good massage but hard to get another appointment in a reasonable amount of time. Again, staff confirmed vouchers do not expire. The night before my 4th massage was scheduled I received a call at 8:55pm that my vouchers have expired and I would have to pay $145 for the massage. I told her I confirmed twice with staff and was told it didn't expire and she responded "oh they must be new and don't know our policy". I also told her it would have been impossible for me to use the massages within their time period because I wasn't able to book appointments. She suggested I call Shrewsbury location they can unexpire the remaining massages. I did, they didn't. This business is a huge rip off, they will keep charging you and not honor your remaining massages. Don't join!! read more

I have had mostly great experiences at Massage Envy in Rye Brook. I have learned that you should request a specific person or else they may move you around to fill in appointments. This review is over due. I visited this location a few months ago and even though I haven't been back I recommend everyone I meet to go see JULISSA or CASSANDRA!!! I came in for a massage and needed deep pressure, I was sketchy at first because I usually see a man, also sometimes deep pressure will make people concentrate on the knots and not the experience it's supposed to be. But I figured why not. The first time I was lucky enough to be squeezed in because they had just had a cancelation, so they put me with Cassandra. Ok let me just tell you, she's tiny but strong. She's like Mighty Mouse, but her touch is so delicate. It was incredible, I left feeling loose and ready to take on the day. Because I loved it so much I returned a second time and was able to see julissa, and let me tell you, she's another one, small but mighty, and such a delicate touch. Each time both girls listened to me, never made he feel rushed, and delivered amazing services. I can't express enough to GO SEE THEM!!!! The massage therapist (who had bad bo) told me how great he was and then hurt me and basically told me not to run. At check out they then tried to sell me on a monthly subscription fee. Very disappointing experience. The massage itself was good, however, business practices are awful. I was given a gift card for an hour massage, two enhancements and gratuity. Naturally, I did not ask the person who gave me this gift how much it was paid. Once I came in for my appointment I was told the massage will be 50 minutes long as I would need 5 minutes to change before, and then after the massage (during which time I'm obviously not being given any services). Then I was told since I'm receiving these enhancements than one is 10 minutes long, which then (can you guess?) turned my massage into a 40 minute experience. Naturally, the enhancements were separately paid for. OK, fine. Then after the fact, I came to the front desk to ask a question about other services and then was asked if I would be leaving any gratuity. I politely explained that my gift card states that gratuity is included. I was then told that my gratuity was only paid towards the introductory (first time) massage (which it was), but that if I received a 'regular' massage that gratuity would be higher. So, I ended up getting a forty minute massage (for the price of a one hour one), and leaving additional money towards gratuity. Just plain wrong. read more

I made an appointment at Massage Envy because I had a lot of knots in my left shoulder that were triggering pain in my neck. I could hardly turn my head. My massage was with Alma I and she is amazing. She spent a lot of time working on my shoulder and traps. She also gave me tips on what to do at home to help make this go away faster. I felt much better after the massage and even better a day or so later. I was able to go back to the gym. In the past when this would happen I would be in pain for a week or two, she expedited the healing price and i can't thank her enough. I highly recommended Alma! read more

I came here for a massage a few months ago after a friend gave me a gift certificate as a gift. I was very disappointed with the front desk staff. They gave me a form to fill out which is pretty standard, but then they came over and asked me about my medical history while I was sitting in front of a bunch of strangers in the waiting area. I found it very invasive that they expect people to discuss their medical history out in the open like that. At better places the masseuse will discuss that privately with their client. The front desk lady basically announced what was on my form to the whole room and it made me very uncomfortable as she asked me numerous questions loudly in front of everyone. Additionally, after my massage, I was in a big rush to leave bc I had another commitment. I said thank you and walked out. The front desk woman chased me to the doorway and told me I had to "check out" at the desk. It made no sense bc I had already paid and tipped. Turned out she just wanted to give me a sales pitch. I had told her earlier what time I needed to leave by and I found it quite rude she called me back to listen to a unnecessary sales pitch and make me even later! All that being said, my masseuse was good - he listened to what I liked and didn't like and adjusted his touch to my preferences. I have been patiently waiting to finally get my first prenatal massage now that I am out of my first trimester. My massage at Massage Envy was well worth the wait! Christine made me feel so relaxed and I felt very comfortable with her. I wasn't sure what to expect when you get a prenatal massage but the pillows on each side made it so relaxing.
