Dr. Rahmani and her team of assistants were able to provide a full range of services that encompassed everything from a root canal to temporary crowns. But the total surprise was that they were also able to promise that the permanent crowns would be ready just before New Year's and my travel back home. Dr. Rahmani carefully explained all she did was extremely kind, patient and professional while doing so. Her team was equally wonderful and was left with a truly exceptional impression of the level of patient care provided by Smithfield Family Dentistry. I surely hope the residents of Smithfield understand the blessing they have with Dr. Cook, Dr. Rahmani, and the rest of their terrific team. This Tennessean deeply appreciates the level of service I received here in Smithfield, VA and strongly urge the residents or visitors of the Smithfield, VA area to take advantage of the Jewel that is Smithfield Family Dentistry!!

I used to absolutely love Edinburgh Family Dentistry 100%. So much so I recommended them to…read moreeveryone I knew. Sadly, over the past two years customer service for the adults in our household has declined significantly. I'm going share as 4 stars, at this point it's really closer to 3 1/2 but they don't give you an option for that, which I'm torn since they do take great care of my children. Let's start with the positives: The hygienist and Doctor who work with our children are wonderful. They are gentle, kind, and patient. They have never pushed unnecessary treatments. They simply do their cleanings, make observations, and offer suggestions. Never had an issue with how our kids are treated. They even allow you to sit in the room with them. This part of their practice has always been excellent. The wait time once you arrive and check in is never long, I don't believe we've ever waited more than 10 minutes to be seen except one time when someone called out so they were short staffed. The office is also very clean. However, our experience as adults has been very frustrating. My husband was essentially "Ghosted" as a patient. He was contacted about moving his appointment earlier, which he agreed to only if his original appointment could remain in case he couldn't make it ( He was traveling for work that week). They canceled his original appointment anyways, and then later canceled another appointment because insurance was "asking questions" but no one ever followed back up with him like they said they would. In the end they dictated his schedule instead of working with it, and he never got his mouth completed after starting a deep cleaning. Recently they repeatedly kept contacting me during work hours asking for insurance information even though I had told them I did not have it on hand and would send it as soon as I could that day. The constant texts during the workday feel excessive and stressful. Another limitation is pain management, they only offer injections for numbing. If you don't numb well with needles like me they can't accommodate you. They won't even do my teeth cleanings until one tooth issue is resolved elsewhere. Scheduling is also a bit difficult, appointments are typically booked close to a year out, and although we tried to switch to their newer location, they told me they are still working on insurance coverage there so we're stuck at this office. Today was another example of the disorganization. We had a 2pm appointment and arrived 15 minutes early. The staff was in a meeting and kept all patients waiting outside until exactly 2PM. As more and more patients arrived for their appointments they eventually put a sign on the door telling people to return at 1PM even though it was already past that and they still weren't available until 2. It was confusing and frustrating especially for those who arrive on time and early. During cleanings you won't see the dentist for more than 5 minutes unless you have specific concerns. Overall, this used to be a 5-star office for us. Now it feels very inconsistent. Excellent for children so far.

The office staff is horrible at scheduling and notifying you. It took several months to schedule my…read morewife's first appointment in 2025. After that appointment and becoming an established patient, Edinburgh Family Dentistry in Chesapeake could not schedule her next appointment until 2026. She asked them, aren't cleaning supposed to be every six months? This office said yes, but they do not have any availability, and my wife could be put on a cancellation list for an early appointment. When it came time for my wife's appointment this February 2026, this dentist's office called my wife three hours before her appointment and said her hygienist was out sick and they had to cancel her appointment. She asked about seeing another hygienist, and they told her they are short-staffed. Edinburgh Family Dentistry makes sure to inform you that you will be charged a late or no-show fee if you do not give advance notice within 24 hours of canceling your appointment with them. My wife asked when they will be able to schedule her for the next cleaning appointment, since this cancellation by the dentist's office, they said February 2027. My wife said that would be two years without seeing a dentist, but the office staff didn't seem to see a problem with that. If you are an established patient, you would think you would be accommodated after the office canceled your appointment, which you made a year ago. This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Maybe Edinburgh Family Dentistry should have thought twice before opening their Moyock office until they figure out their staffing problems, or maybe pay their hygienists a better wage to keep their attrition rate down. My wife did like her Dentist, but hates that she must deal with an office staff that is clueless to patient needs. In response to the owner's response. This is not a misunderstanding. It appears to be an ongoing issue with Edinburgh Family Dentistry. See Traci Gray's & Anne Buckner's one-star reviews from one & seven months ago. They both had to experience the same one-year extension befall them. It's clearly an unwillingness to train your obtuse and unenlightened office staff, which resulted in your colleague, Dr. G, losing a patient.

We had a preexisting relationship with Dr.Boyd. My husband has done work for her and he's been her…read morepatient for dental work. Another member of her family was near and dear to me through my early adulthood and through the loss of our son 6 years ago. My husband recently had a crown come off which uncovered significant decay. This was work she had previously done for him. He went in to see what could be done. He needed an extraction, bone graft and resin. He did not want a full work up as he wasnt having issues with any other teeth. Dr.Boyd does not take our insurance so we pay out of pocket and he wanted to keep things reasonably priced. He left that day with a price to get the tooth fixed and made a brief statement of "hey let me know if you guys need any work done and we could work out a barter". Again...preexisting relationship, he's done work for them before. Not really a weird thing to say from one business owner to another. He calls a few days later to schedule the work after looking into some holistic dental options and decided he would rather go with who he knew. They weren't able to get him in for a month but he committed to scheduling anyway. He asked out of consideration of their business what the cancellation policy was in the event he found someone to do it sooner should the pain worsen. This is a tooth that is infected with no crown to cover it. They immediately met him with a refusal to schedule because "he has another dentist". He explained he doesnt have another dentist but was simply stating that in the event the tooth gets worse he may need to get in sooner somewhere and wanted to be considerate ofntheir cancellation policy. The girl on the phone stated she "did not believe him and they werent going to see him as a patient at all anymore." She was incredibly unprofessional and ugly. In any other professional setting she would have been fired but this was Dr.Boyds relative. I went up to the office in hopes to speak with her or Dr.Boyd and remedy whatever miscommunication had occurred. I ended up speaking with the male that works the front desk. They painted my husband in a such a demeaning light because of his barter statement and unwillingness to have all of his teeth worked up. He is one of the most honest, kind, filled with integrity persons you'll ever meet. A successful and well liked business owner. When I went to the office I honestly thought there could have been miscommunication between the relative and Dr.Boyd who supposedly supported the discontinuation of seeing my husband. I found out there was none and it was in fact decided by Dr.Boyd. I remained very kind and calm because thats how you should treat people. The man at the front desk would not look me in the face. He wouldn't answer what he meant by "muddy legal waters". I asked what they expected someone in pain to do if Dr.Boyd can't get to them soon enough because the response on this date was literally we refuse to see you as a patient anymore ever, but it had already been decided they would not see him or justify or reason anything else. We have been wildly caught off guard by this experience. It honestly felt like they elevated themselves above my husband. Like they cared more about lining their pockets than the pain the patients are in or honoring peoples medical choices for themselves. This has not been our experience before so understand that you could also be treated this way at some point. Regardless we're relieved to uncover this truth so we can find somewhere else with more integrity and compassion for their patients.
