1/5 -- DO NOT TRUST Ivey Manor with any important event.
We signed our contract and reserved Ivey Manor four months in advance, paid the agreed rental amount in full, and spent months planning through multiple walkthroughs and vendor visits. THREE DAYS before our event, the venue attempted to materially change the arrangements we had been planning with them for months.
Furniture that had never been present during any of our previous walkthroughs was suddenly placed throughout the venue and interfered with our planned layout. When we asked for it to be removed so we could use the space we had spent months planning around, owner Greg ultimately wanted us to agree to materially different terms, including DOUBLING our venue rental fee.
There were other major issues as well. The pond we had been promised would be completed for our event was nowhere close to finished. Large permanent glass doors were also installed without warning 1 week before our event, reducing the usable event space and making the best part of the venue look more like a high-school security entrance than the space we originally agreed to rent.
Again this was three days before an event that had been contracted, planned for months, and already paid for in full.
We were ultimately forced to secure another venue on extremely short notice, reorganize vendors and logistics, spend additional money, and deal with an enormous amount of unnecessary stress.
No one should have to wonder three days before an event whether a venue they contracted with, fully paid, and spent months planning with is actually going to follow through. I would never trust Ivey Manor or owner Greg with any important event. read more
