Hot water is VERY hot--be prepared for that the first time you wash your hands . Bed is a little soft, but tolerable enough for a couple nights. The parking situation was not as satisfactory. You need to park at the back of the property, which makes for a bit of walk. Wi-fi kept cutting in and out, which was a problem seeing as I'd brought along some work to do. There isn't any closet or hanging rack, which would have been quite handy. But I'll deal with not having one here, seeing as overall the place was clean and comfortable.

The cabins are comfortable and clean, and the owners are very nice. We stay at the Cloud 9 when we are fishing for salmon and steelhead, and the owner has always given us some helpful hints and tricks to land fish. I've always gotten the feeling that they just want everyone to have an enjoyable time, no matter why they are up there. We have stayed in Cabins 1 and 4. Cabin 1 has a bedroom and a living room area, and cabin 4 is more of a studio type cabin. Both have kitchenettes with everything you need. There is a swingset behind the cabins that my son likes to play on, and also a provided fish cleaning station so that you can bring your catch back with you. You can't go wrong staying at the Cloud 9!

We have never been paddle boarding before but have always wanted to try it. Kelly was so kind and patient when we initially inquired about the rental process. When we decided to go ahead and take the plunge and just do it making the appointment was very simple. The website was user friendly and easy to navigate. We showed up for our appointment and she had everything ready to go. She made sure that our life jackets were on properly and did not skip a single step. Her instructions and demonstrations on how to actually use the paddle board were easy to follow and very thorough. She also made sure that we were comfortable with our paddle boards before leaving. Out on the lake we got to see SO much wildlife, it was nothing like being in a motorized boat that's for sure. I have never considered myself athletic by any means and am far from being in shape but thanks to the equipment she provided as well as amazing instructions and answering all of my questions I can say I mastered the paddle board in no time! It was for sure the highlight of our vacation! Thank you Kelly and Lakeshore Water Sports!!!

Since we were staying at Bowman Bridge Campground on the Marquette River, my wife and I wanted to avoid driving back and forth between Baldwin at the start and end of our trip, especially after a few delicious river Oberons. I sent them an email and Troy was quick to respond. They were able to pick us up at our campsite the next morning (on time!) and take us straight to the launch. Not needing to stop in the rental office was greatly appreciated as was the fact that they take care of the river permits for you! Even better was that when we got back to the campground, we didn't need to call and wait for a pickup. We simply put the canoe up on a rack and continued on with our day! It looked like they have staff and buses at each of the major stops of the river, ready to help out and transport any groups as they came in and every employee we ran into was super friendly. Seriously, I can't say enough about how great of a livery this place was! It's a seriously well-run operation that made our little weekend getaway so much more enjoyable!

Donated by the daughter of a…read morelumber baron in the early 20th century, it's now a popular camping site perfect for RVs and even tent campers. Here's why to go: 1) Price: Most people have annual passes for $30 or so making it pretty affordable. (It's $9 a day for out-of-state cars to park,) Our camo site was $40 a night and it fit our two tents for four adults and three kids. 2) Space: With all the RVs everywhere it does get crowded, but each camping space is spacious and we didn't feel on top of others. 3) Amenities: The bathrooms were near our site with individual showers. Unlike other camp grounds, the bathrooms are kept very clean. They never smelled and were never dirty. Kudos to the cleaning team for keeping them spotless despite a full camp site. Each camp site comes with a fire pit. 4) Beach: It's a short walk from the camp site with several playgrounds for kids and dunes with benches and places to hang up a hammock. On the beach is a shop with food, fire wood ($6 per fire wood pile) and ice cream. 5) Location: It's a very short walk to the main street of Pentwater with a mini golf course, shops and even coffee shops!

I cannot emphasize how awesome this was for me! We were able to find a great spot where we could hear the water! I must admit, I slept the entire time we were there. It was so relaxing! Avoid the middle section of the beach if you don't like crowds. Head to the northern end if you want some peace and quiet. It is a clean beach. Be aware there are only a few handicapped spots so you may need to drop off your disabled traveler before parking. Get there early to get the best spot.

There's a paved path that takes you down pretty close to the water, with plenty of places to sit along the way, which makes the beach really accessible for just about everyone. You can also walk out onto the lighthouse, which is a fun little addition to the beach. We didn't spend quite as much time here on this trip because we were exploring some of the other areas around Ludington, but we've enjoyed coming here. I wouldn't say this is the most beautiful or dramatic beach we've been to. It's a big, open stretch of beach without a ton of natural scenery. But it definitely makes up for that with the views and everything around it. You have the harbor right next to you, and the SS Badger regularly passes by, which is really cool to watch. The water itself is beautiful, and there's something fun about being able to sit on the beach and watch the boats coming and going. Another huge plus is the location. You can easily walk into the cute little beach town for food, drinks, and shops, and there's a skate park and mini golf nearby too. You really don't have to move your car once you get here. Overall, it's a clean, convenient, family-friendly beach with great accessibility and plenty to do nearby. It may not have the dramatic scenery of some of Michigan's other beaches, but the location and atmosphere make it absolutely worth visiting when you're in Ludington!
