I came here back in 2021 for the first time and again today in 2026. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I thought I'd give this office another chance but the staff is still as rude as before.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In 2021 the front office girl was told me they didn't take my insurance but I was said how when my brother came the day before with the exact same insurance. She was just too lazy to call and check.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I come today and they tell me they have to reschedule me because I brought my baby. There apparently isn't room for him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I work at a dental office as a hygienist and the office I work at would never ever treat patients this way. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wanted to use my medical before I no longer have it anymore so I came here and I regret it so much.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Where I work prioritizes the patients and gives them a comforting environment as soon as you walk in the door. Valley grace dental is way better than here. The staff is so nice there. Too bad they don't take medical I would recommend it to everyone on medical. I have NEVER left a bad review in my life. I'm so sad, this dentist is a terrible and selfish doctor with what feels like unethical business practices. He's clearly great at ridding himself of long term patients. I tried to ignore his bad reviews and awful bedside manner due to my interactions with him in his office being minimal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As most of my care was handled by other staff members who were so kind, supportive and good at their jobs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I first went to him 5 years ago. He was never nice. Nor very helpful in explaining treatment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Again, his staff made up for that. I had my work done. First time he was okay. Staff was fantastic. Second appointment he lived up to the reviews I had ignored and showed his ugly unprofessional side. The meds he gave me were taking longer than he cared to wait for to provide the partial sedation he needed to begin my work. He threw an actual tantrum like a child and began raising his voice at me when he asked if I could feel the work being done. I raised my hand like I was directed to when asked, he slammed his tools down and loudly began telling me and his staff he will not work on me since I'm not fully feeling the sedation yet. He acted as if I should be ashamed of refusing to cooperate with him when it was a medical reaction I had no control over that was really at play. I was really out of it and confused as the meds had partially began to work. I called for my ride to immediately turn back and pick me up. By the time my sister returned to get me 10 minutes later I was so high on the sedation that I didn't remember anything the rest of the day. So if he had been professional and calm, and used his medical education to realize sedation can affect everyone differently, I could have had my work done that day. Simply waiting 10 more minutes would have solved that situation. Instead, I went elsewhere feeling way too anxious about getting scolded by a disrespectful doctor over something normal and out of my control. 5 years later I really wanted to return to get the remaining care I now need handled due to the amazing experiences with his STAFF ONLY. I was hoping that I would be able to advocate for myself utilizing his kind staffs assistance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I made my appointment 1 week ago. Tomorrow is when it was scheduled. I received the very first confirmation attempt approximately 3 hours ago. No previous confirmation calls were attempted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was busy, as most humans often are on a daily basis. I just now returned the call from 3 hours ago and was told they cancelled it automatically due to my lack of confirmation 24 hours before I understand a 24 hour confirmation is needed, that is not where my complaint is based. However, he has the most unprofessional system in place to handle those confirmations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are saying that I failed to confirm in a timely manner and can only reschedule me for next week.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They literally said I had to answer that call immediately and confirm immediately. If they need that confirmation done in that time frame, they should have a simple and realistic policy of calling the day ahead of time so we can have a few hours to return that call.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 3 hours later from their FIRST attempt to confirm my appointment they gave it away to someone else. Do yourself a favor. Take the those bad reviews seriously. Kind, helpful staff can not make up for a rude, unprofessional dentist. His appointment confirmation policy tops off his trashy bedside manner and lack of empathy for patients that he should want to provide care for. First, she agreed to book me for the next appointment, as someone had canceled and I was in need of care; therefore, the doctor will be able to see me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A few minutes later, I was called again to confirm my insurance, which I couldn't provide at that moment since I was at the store, and I was told that I would need to have that information on hand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked if I could book the appointment and call early the next morning, but at first, she agreed. However, a few minutes later, she called again, and she then changed her mind about what she wanted to do, which left me confused.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked for clarification as to what she wanted me to do, and as a result, she refused to book an appointment and hung up the phone on me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I understand that he is a good doctor, but his staff is what deters people from coming back. I just left Dr Ivan Medina Martinez DDS on Brundage and had THE WORST experience!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was extremely rude and pushy and when I asked questions about the very extensive procedures he was recommending; he said that I was being hostile and aggressive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I prefaced this appointment and my last one (the evaluation) with the fact that I have A LOT of anxiety and haven't been to the dentist in a long time bc of it. I just wanted to understand what and why things were happening/being recommended bc I dont think it was all communicated last visit (if It was my anxiety did not allow me to retain it). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Neither he nor the nurses were understanding and just kept saying "well insurance approved it", "you don't have to do it".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They showed me a xray of the teeth in question and kept pointing to "the grey" saying that was why and when I said it looked the same as the tooth next to it and asked to see a healthy tooth to compare bc I wasn't understanding the difference in grey areas and they seemed offended that I would question him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Like I understand it was approved and that I don't HAVE to have it done but you're not explaining or making me feel better about anything. I never once raised my voice or used an aggressive tone or facial expression or anything, just questions and nervous anxiety that I expressed profusely. So far so good. I made an appointment & didn't show up, a few years ago. Today, i finally mustered up the courage to try again (I'm terrified of the dentist). I spoke to Daniel and he verified my insurance and set me up for my first appointment. I do feel like this guy cared and tried helping me a lot. Even to the point of a lil encouragement. I remember a couple years ago Dr. Medina got on the phone with me to ask why i was scared and he tried helping me with my fears then. He didn't have to do that. That act of kindness is why I'm coming back to him when i am ready. He took that time to chat with me, and it wasn't a waste. I feel like this office cares. I was originally scheduled for just a filling, but when I advised Dr. Medina that I had a filling fall out of my tooth recently he was able to fix up the filling that fell and also for the filling I was originally schedule for. It was honestly a quick and painless procedure, and I was only there for about an hour. I enjoy the atmosphere of the whole place very much, and the assistants for Dr. Medina are also very kind and super friendly. I loved every second of my experience there. read more

Horrible experience... lack of professionalism... They lack ability to submit pre-authorizations, and properly communicate with patients. They set ridiculous office policies. I had a serious medical issue that prevented me from doing a crown as quickly as I'd have liked to. (Won't resubmit pre-authorizations a second time.) Office is filthy, dentist is more concerned with flirting with assistant, hygienist doesn't do a true deep cleaning. DONT BELIEVE ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS- THEY GIVE OUT $10 TARGET CARDS OUT FOR THE POSITIVE REVIEWS. I've been in the dental field for over 25 yrs, only tried this place due to insurance carrier. Appointment was 01/23 & 01/24/2020. Pros: friendly staff, nice and clean office. Cons: Dentist does not wanna take fault for bad work done/not done right. Today is 02/11/2020 Procedure done: cavity fills on molars and upper wisdom extraction. So its been about 2 weeks going on 3 weeks and let me tell you i have never experienced pain like what i have felt through these past days. I called the office 01/24/2020 to let them know i was having pain but in my fillings they said if it persisted to come back tuesday as they are closed mondays. Sure enough i went tuesday because the fillings were giving me trouble. They had started to cause headaches and couldnt even eat normal. Dentist stated it was just sensitivity to the filling and to "give it time". Well i went back on 01/30 because the pain had gotten unbearable to the point where i couldn't even focus at school or driving. After his office visit i visited a different dentist which then stated that tooth#3 was underfilled. Dentist ivan got upset because i got another opinion. Basically also started saying it was because i grind my teeth. Anyways he then proceeded to say "i can refill them but i have a feeling your gonna come back to shave them off". I was appalled and just wanted to leave. He then stated to look up symptoms of grinding teeth. Honestly if you want someone to invalidate your feelings or do bad work then he's your dentist. Staff is pretty nice however dentist needs to listen to what his patients are saying if he wants business to keep growing. read more

I did my research and this dentist was recommended by a couple different people, so I called and they were able to schedule me soon and not months out. They have plenty of parking reserved just for their patients . The office is cozy and clean. The few times I've went, I've never had to wait a long time like most dental offices. Everyone in the office has always been very polite and informative. They are up to date on technology. They have text and email reminders which is very helpful. I feel comfortable with Dr Medina and his staff even though I absolutely hated and dreaded going to the dentist. I think I have found my spot where I will be resuming regular dental care from now on. read more

The customer service and employees are awful. My wife and I switched dentists, specifically telling Ivan and his staff that we switched to them because they accepted Blue Shield. We even had two in-house appointments where we explained why we switched to them and what services we needed. They took our money and sent out referrals for us to begin our treatment plan. I am not a rich person and I had to pay for all of this out of pocket, so I started a Go Fund Me and I raised $1,400 to have a root canal and to get a cap. Today I got a phone call from a clueless employee telling me that they had finally been able to get out of network on HMOs. They had been trying for some time and were finally able to get out so they recommended I pay for everything out of pocket. I explained to them that I didn't have that kind of money and that I had just gone in to get the root canal treatment that morning and was supposed to be seeing them for the cap tomorrow. I begged them to work with me, I even three-way called my wife and recorded the phone call and they refused to work with me. In fact, the first thing she said when she got on the phone was that they wouldn't work with us on a billing plan. It wasn't something they were interested in. They made a phony appointment for us to go down and talk to the manager at 3pm. Once again, I recorded my interactions with them and they lied, lied, and lied. They claimed I treated their employee poorly on the phone, I told them I had the entire call recorded and could prove I had not spoken to their employee in any foul manner. At that point, Ivan moved the goalposts and claimed he wouldn't work with me because I was committing felonies by recording my interaction with them. I explained to him that he had left me no other choice. They had left me in the middle of a treatment and were refusing to work with me even though I was begging them to help out and was still trying to give them my money even after all of this. Ivan called the cops and claimed I was being "belligerent," to which I calmly told him that I only wanted to explain to me one simple thing and I was happy to leave: Why was his office still taking the money of patients they knew they didn't want to treat? What was the point of hearing someone tell you that they switched to you because you accepted an HMO when you knew the whole time that you didn't want to accept an HMO and were trying to get out from the network? I left before the cops arrived because I have no interest in being arrested nor was I being "belligerent," but I would highly caution anyone against using their services. I am already going to be contacting a lawyer and taking legal action against them. I'll be posting audio of their employee admitting that they knew they were trying to ditch HMO patients several months ago. I'll be posting audio of Ivan lying to the police about my demeanor and our interactions. These people aren't just bad at business, they're super shitty people. read more

The experience here will be truly unforgettable!!! The front and back staff were highly professional, friendly, and helpful. The x-Ray assitant, helped me feel comfortable to the max and although she took a while, I know she was doing her job by getting the best x-rays. The oral hygienist is beyond funny and so is the young Dr. Martinez. Both shared past experiences that made laugh and smile from ear to ear. Can't wait for my next appointment. First of all the staff (for the most part) is incredible. I have very bad anxiety at the dentist and they all comforted me and reassured me I was in good hands. I scheduled an appointment to get some work done in the next upcoming weeks. I was told the cost of everything my insurance wasn't going to pay and figured I would go shop around to make sure I was getting a good price with them. When I walked in to ask for my dental records (which you are legally entitled to) they hesitated and asked a lot of questions. I understand that as a business they could see it as a financial loss if a client goes elsewhere; however, as a customer I want to make sure I'm getting taken care of health wise and financially speaking. They gave me my dental records after many questions and I left their offices. I had to reschedule my upcoming appointment due to work and I was notified right then and there that they're denying me as a patient. No issue with insurance or anything like that. They just refuse to see me. When I asked why they said that I "didn't seem happy" when I was in to get my dental records. I told them I didn't say anything about not being happy or wanting to be seen by the office and he didn't really care what I had to say and just told me that I didn't seem happy and I should find another dentist. Overall, the initial experience was great. The staff was friendly and reassuring but following that was just horrible. The office staff in this practice is unprofessional and rude. My insurance provider try to talk to them to clarify a misunderstanding with the type of insurance service/coverage they had with my insurance, and the staff advise my insurance representative that they don't want to talk to her and don't care to clarify anything and disconnected the conversation without advising my insurance representative. Don't recommend a rude and unprofessional place of service. If this is the way they treat the company that is providing/paying/release the money, I don't want to imagine how they treat the patients that are receiving the treatments for that money being released to them. read more

As someone with horrible experiences at dentists, I have found myself to always feel ready and comfortable for my treatments with Dr. Medina and his staff. They are all so friendly and welcoming. They work quickly, efficiently, and diligently. I now am completely fine visiting the dentist and I have recommended him to all my family and friends. Whenever I go in, I completely trust the Dr. and his staff to take care of me and my health. They are very thorough when explaining policies and procedures and answer any and all of my questions without hesitation. His staff go the extra mile to make a connection with a couple laughs and I always feel safe and at ease. Although I still get very nervous and I am terrified of needles, I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Medina and his team, making all visits and experiences a breeze.
