I was at the Scottsdale Quarter a few days ago, and I happened to stop inside IT'SUGAR, and I was immediately transported to a candy wonderland. From the bags I could fill up with whatever I wanted (that was later weighed and paid for by pound) to the tasty gifts and candy, I had plenty to look at and a lot of temptations to face. While I didn't go into the store with the intention to purchase anything, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to get a bag of candies and chocolates that I knew my wife would enjoy as a special treat for her. I then got a similar bag with some candies and chocolates I knew I would enjoy. Most of the candies and chocolates were unique ones that I've had something similar but not this before, so I had the opportunity to try a few of the candies and chocolates when I got home. The cashier was the only staff member in the store at that time, and she was very helpful and kind. She walked me through how the process for getting candied and chocolates. She also offered me the opportunity to buy a MAKE-A-WISH WISH POP, which was a colorful star lollipop, which only cost one dollar. This place is really gross. Not only does it have inappropriate marketing and products, it is filthy! Dust and dirt everywhere, old masks in the window, stuff taped up and messy. If you like the feeling of being on a sugar high, this place is for you. I happened upon it today while browsing some other stores at Scottsdale Quarter, and was impressed with their selection of sugar (and some sugarless) treats of all kinds. I literally felt like a kid in a candy store, as I walked through this newly opened shop. Despite it being on the pricey side, I'm sure it will do really well in this location. From bulk candy including a wall of assorted jelly belly flavors, every gummy animal and flavor imaginable, licorice, chocolate, jawbreakers, gumballs, etc... and individually wrapped candy such as razzles, nerds, lollipops, skittles, m&ms, cleverly labeled gum, hello kitty, extra large sizes of candy buttons, chocolate bars, junior mints, dots, and oh so much more, there is definitely something for everyone at this store. On top of the candy selection, the store is bright and colorful and blasting music; you can't help but smile while inside. Prices are on the steep side, however, so be forewarned. I bought a package of razzle sours for $1.99. I avoided the bulk candy bins that are $2.99 per 1/4 pound and $11.96 per pound. There were plenty of people (both kids and adults) loading up on sugar while I was there, and with the iPic theater right nearby, I'm sure plenty of people will make IT'SUGAR a pre-movie candy buying destination. Pretty neat store but horribly overpriced. This place has an assortment of modern and vintage candy that is somewhat hard to find. They also have bulk candy that you can purchase by weight. Be careful though, it's expensive! I put like 6 or 7 gum balls in a bag and also a few pieces of brick candy and it was over $5! I also say a bag of pop rocks with a $2.99 price tag in them. A great place to grow your inappropriate magnet collection, pick up one of those notepads with rude checkbox items, purchase a silly tee-shirt or find a whoopie cushion. I love places like this and pick up something fun every single time I visit. They have an impressive selection of enormous candy (Care for a snickers bar the size of a man's torso? How about a gummy worm the size of an arm?), a ton of Ted (the movie) memoribilia, and lots of candy bars and mint/gum with hilarious sayings. TIP: The bulk candy can get pretty expensive pretty fast. We paid over $6 for the equivalent of a large bag of skittles, but, if you're looking for gummy everything and you don't mind splurging, you'll love it! read more

While at Scottsdale Quarter we spotted this colorful candy store and we had to go in and walk through and slowly gaze over the 5 million choices of assorted candies! My husband got a few things. Several types of licorice and chocolate almonds. They had a section of Mexican candy which I was surprised to find here in this area. So I picked up a bag of chili covered mango candy. Now I don't have to go in search of a international store or a Food City! So I left happy! read more

Their prices are deceiving, overpriced or an actual rip-off, but to me the fact that they are deceiving is what upset me the most on my latest visit and is why I feel the need to alert others. Although they have a lot of fun candy that you might not find elsewhere (see my pics of the Gummy Bear Stein & Jelly Belly Beanboozle game), they also have candy that you CAN purchase anywhere for MUCH less, however the way that they have it packaged is extremely misleading. For example, see my photos of their "BIG Sour Patch Kids" box (and that is exactly what they call it on the receipt, as well). As you can see in my photo, this is a great example of "buyer beware," because it merely contains a regular 14oz. bag of Sour Patch Kids (packaged in a box twice the size). So, the customer would need to know that a 14oz. bag (even if packaged in a BIG box that says 14oz.) costs less that $3.00 elsewhere. It's Sugar charged $12.99, and yes, I fell for their deception since I wasn't knowledgable enough about the ounces of a bag of Sour Patch Kids, and too naive to think that this box was FOUR TIMES the price (and as you can see from the photo, twice the size of the bag inside). Another misconception is that "BULK" candy is cheaper than boxed candy purchased elsewhere. I scooped out about 15 Swedish Fish, and when I got home, I saw that my receipt showed that they charged $13.96/pound. Just now, I looked up an online site who charges $5.99/pound. and as you probably know, you can get a box of Swedish Fish for $1 at most drugstores, which would contain more that the 12 that I purchased at It's Sugar for $3.91. Also, look over your receipt before you leave your place at the register, because they charged me for a "BIG Nerds" that I did not have up there at all. I called the store, and they told me that I had to call the phone number on their website for a refund. When I called the number, got a recording, pressed 2 for customer service and had to leave a message for "Camille," I politely explained the charge mistake as well as my dissatisfaction regarding the 14oz bag of Sour Patch Kids for $12.99 (and 12 Swedish Fish for $3.91). ~ I haven't received a call in return, even though a repeated my name and number once again at the end of my concise & factual message, therefore, I am writing this in the hope that it will keep others from "purchasing without thinking" and checking their receipt. Lesson learned: I'll go to Walgreens and get 4 boxes of Swedish Fish and a 14oz. bag of Sour Patch Kids for $7 to $8 verses $20. read more

Warning! Do not shop at this store! Absolutely shocked at the atrocious experience I just had at this store. Madeline the manager was one of the worst people that I have ever met in any store ever. This company sold my kids ( who were excited to go in and shop for a treat on their own ) a giant $16 gummy that they were all going to cut up and split.) so they bring it back to the restaurant that we were eating at and start complaining that it was rock hard. So we begin trying to cut this giant gummy bear with a Knife!!!! And we can't even cut it. So I tell the kids to take it back and exchange it because it is impossible to consume this rock hard years old candy. The kids return a few minutes later saying that the company would not exchange it. Well I hear this and begin walking back to the store to discuss how they could sell this potentially dangerous candy that is impossible to eat and not take responsibility and exchanging the item. I ask this incompetent check out girl to speak to a manager and she informs me she is the manager. I tell her if she can break off a piece of this gummy or cut off or bite off a piece I do not need to exchange it ( because she would never be able to do it. ) I begin to get extremely frustrated with this person and ask to call the owners of the store. Long story short some other parents shopping begin taking my side when they hear how terrible this manager is speaking to me and how they refused to even exchange the garbage candy. Bottom line is they sold something obviously old and inedible to some little 11 yr old kids, refused to return it or exchange it and were blatantly rude and belligerent in their way of doing business. Save your money and possibly kids life so they don't choke on the garbage that this company sold to my child. Ps I don't write reviews especially negative ones but I am literally beside myself with this one. A small microcosm of everything that's wrong with our society today. Hard to know where to begin, so let's begin here: When you make profit off of selling a toxin (in this case sugar) to a vulnerable population (in this case children) you should at least be grateful and kid-friendly. Next, there are too many rules. As a practical matter, when kids are swarming the store because of the excitement and stimulation of large amounts of sugar, a parent can try to corral them, or a parent can stand there reading the long lists of rules posted throughout the store. Consider posting your lists of rules on the front door before you lure families inside. Next, the glove requirement is silly and unsupported by science. COVID is not shown to spread on surfaces. You already have tongs that go inside the bins. Gloves for the tongs should be offered and optional - not mandatory. You are a private business, so you have a right to impose your own rules. However, you do not have a right to selectively enforce them. When you single out a customer and ask him to wear gloves, and he says "oh sorry I didn't know" and asks why him when no-one else is being asked to wear them, and you say "because they're lucky," understand this: you're teaching kids that it's okay to treat people differently for arbitrary reasons. When you act mean to a parent or a kid, you're teaching a kid that it's okay to be mean. Lastly, if you aren't happy and kid-friendly, you might want to pause and reflect on whether you really want to be working in a candy store. read more

I love this store. They always have cool and fun stuff that you can check out, and some tasty-looking candies. Whenever I walk past one of these stores, I will always walk in. Although, I had a very horrible experience in this store. I went in with my brother and mom and we were just looking around. We were having fun and we were very intrigued! I look over at my brother to see that he is talking to a man maybe around twenty-something. He is just trying to do a handshake (by the way, my brother is thirteen years old) with my brother. I ask my brother if he knows him and my brother replies, "He just came up to me...". He asked my brother if he played a sport and my brother replied football, he just started to ask my brother lots and lots of questions about it. He figured out that I was his sister and asked me if I played a sport. He says, "let me guess, ballet?" My mom comes out and says volleyball, I do not play volleyball very much but it is my go-to sport. He says, "let me see your volleyball position." He proceeded to show me one. I kinda just gave him an awkward face. He kept telling me to do it. Then he started talking to my mom by saying, "Are these your kids' ma'am?" My mom replied with yes and he said, "they are very beautiful. Especially your girl." He was referring to me and this made me very very very uncomfortable. We decided to buy a little something and my mom said to the cashier, "What is that guy doing? He is kind of harassing us." The cashier that did not care said, "oh, he just comes in here sometimes, and talks to the customers. No big deal." I am not trying to be annoying here, but that was horrible service. I am pretty sure when you work at these stores you are supposed to make the customer feel comfortable and not the opposite. If the game of Candyland came to life, it would look exactly like the interior of It'sugar. The sugar plum fairies definitely sugar coated this store with every possible candy imaginable, even some I didn't even know existed. This candy store is dangerous for a sweet tooth addict like myself. I walked in and didn't even know where to start. The middle island of the store is full of bucket after bucket of every type of candy; everything from sour patch gummies, to chocolate covered everything and any other gummy creation you can think of. The shop's perimeter is lined with random candy accessories like Hershey pillows, gummy bear coin purses and candy flavored lip gloss. Then the kiosks have things like the world's largest lollipop. And then there's the back wall full of endless flavors of jelly bean and M & Ms. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture! This shop is a visit-must if you are a. with a child, b. like to relive your childhood or c. have a sweet tooth craving. read more

It'sugar takes a very holistic approach as a candy store, offering everything from bulk candy, to vintage chocolate, to candy-themed paraphernalia. It's not the most interesting sweet shop on earth, but it's perfect for the location. Because of its location, though, they also seem to think that I have heaps money to spend on overpriced paraphernalia and vintage chocolate... I don't. The best aspect of It'sugar is that it provides a great way to satisfy random sugar cravings, on the spot (my last baggy contained 3 Swedish fish, 1 Now n' Later, and 4 sour cherry gummies) which is preferable to having to buy an entire bag of one kind of candy that I don't actually want. All in all, I definitely see the merit in having a shop like this in the Scottsdale Quarter. It attracts teenagers who have access to their parents' credit cards, people hoping to sneak a variety of sweets in to a nearby movie, mothers looking for a diversion for their kids, and those of us hoping to induce food guilt after a guilt-free meal at True Food (guilty). read more

Who doesn't love a candy store? Personally, my favorite thing at a candy store are the gummies. While it'sugar had the usual offerings for the most part there were a few standouts. Jumbo candy. The biggest gummy worm I've ever seen. Would be awesome at a party. fruit flavored gummy bears - separated by flavor chocolate covered gummy bears - sounds gross but they are amazing! I loaded up a bag with a bunch of gummy goodness - worms, bears, cherries, peach penguins, coke bottles, sugar rings - at set out on my sugar overload. All the candy tasted fresh (no hard gummies) and the variety was good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it was a fun stop for sure. read more

A trip to It's Sugar is necessary prior to a long day of window shopping. I filled my baggy with licorice & gummy worms aka the essentials. Though I'm not afraid of germs, I imagined a kid digging his/her icky hands into the buckets & it kinda ruined my mood for a second. Nonetheless, I kept it moving. My bag was about the same as my usual cup o' froyo which was alarming, yet okay since I needed energy to continue on with my day. Do they still have The Sweet Factory here? It's Sugar is like the updated version of The Sweet Factory, where you have a plethora of bulk sweets for you to scoop in plastic bags. The bags are nice in that they are zip-lock to seal in freshness. They also have cool candy-themed items and some gag gifts for sale. I picked up a zombie sleep mask ($4.99) and some bulk candy ($12.96/lb., ~$1.50 for 9 pieces of gummies and chocolate). My favorites so far are the peachy penguins and the gummy army men. The bulk candy prices are a bit high compared to buying them at a regular grocery store (for the more common candies), but the selection can't be beat. If I lived closer to here I'd probably have a lot of holes in my teeth from testing out all their selections! read more

O-M to the Gee. This place is so much fun with the bright colors and oversized candy bars and lollipops to purchase! They also offer non-edible items with your favorite candy logo like piggy banks, shirts, and slippers. My favorite, is more of the adult themed novelty gum packs, magnets, candy thongs, and plenty of other items that would be perfect for gag gifts or just to change up any gift you might need to purchase. If you are in Scottsdale Quarter you definetly need to check it out, it's not just for the kiddies running around in the water display in front of the store!
