This place turned out to be a hidden gem. We were looking for good food at a value, and didn't have a preference on cuisine. A stranger on the sidewalk recommended Itahy, and it perfectly suited our needs.
Staff was friendly, spoke excellent basic English, and we did our best to reciprocate with the minimal Spanish and Portuguese we knew.
They were out of the beer we requested, and so we asked if they made sangria (not on the menu). The waiter ran to the back, and quickly came back saying they could do it; not necessary but totally appreciated. As we weren't super hungry, one do us ordered a pasta dish, and the others decided to split two traditional Brazilian entrees. Not being familiar with Brazilian portions, the server quickly corrected us and indicated that one entree would be enough for three girls to split, and that if we finished it, we could get more. As always, it is so appreciated when servers use good judgement, rather than blindly seeking a higher bill.
Itahy turned out to be a very nice surprise, and while the ambience is nothing to write home about, it gave us the authentic Brazilian food we didn't realize we were craving, as well as a taste of excellent Brazilian service! read more
