We've been here many times and had to do one last time since it's really the best selection of cachaças. Although they don't carry the type of cachaça that has a dead snake or some type of animal but the waiters will assure you they have it in their home towns and laugh when you suggest you want to try it. They also don't have the tongue tingling Jambu, like they do in Casa da Cachaça in Lapa, but they do have a variety of better tasting classic cachaça that you want to try out. They also do flights so if you aren't a connoisseur, it's a good way to get to know what you like without getting too wasted. Food is simple and classic Carioca style as well, such as toasted tapioca squares, grilled heart of palm, chicken in pitanga sauce. Tire sede is a non-alcoholic drink made of sugar cane, lime and is delicious.

We found this cool spot after searching for a nice tipical place to eat dinner in Leblon. Academia da Cachaça is as typical as can be. The restaurant was full and still we did not wait more than 5 minutes for a table. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The roof is covered with colored type string that form the Brazilian flag, it is pretty cool. Here you can find a wide variety of cachaça for those who would like to venture out! Caipirihnas were delicios we tried the academica and the brasilera. Both delicious with great flavor. We order to start bolinho de mandoica com queijo. Feijão, which is a small black bean soup with beef pieces. Escondidinho de frango com pure de batata and one of beef. Both great in flavor. Our preference the escondidinho de frango (chicken). Carlos was our server and he explained to his best the menu and recommended great dishes! They do take a little to bring out the food, but with the great ambiance you do not realize it! It is extremely recommended to eat Feijoada here. They have won multiple awards for it. Unfortunately we did not order it! We will definitely return to try it!!!

I was warned that Academia da Cachaca would be overpriced, but it actually wasn't that bad (most base prices start around R$12). They most certainly have a wide assortment of rum, and you can spruce up your caipirinha with higher quality ones (at a surcharge, of course). I had one with pineapple and red peppercorns, which was weird and not to my liking. Also tried one with orange and ginger. Nothing special. They have a nice outdoor seating area and the servers were nice enough (they have English menus if you ask).

Famous place with really good feijoada - best I've had. Great place to have a lingering lunch.

There were several items I wasn't familiar with, so we decided to try the escondidinho de frango and the cubinhos de tapioca.

I liked the Bianca beer as it was very nice tasting and it wasn't too dark and it was good for just a light beer. We had ordered a few different items the first one was the pork with cheese bites I forget the name of the appetizers and I tried to find them on the menu online but I can't seem to find it the appetizers come in pretty large portions good for 2 to 3 people with a pretty unique flavor in different options to indulge all parties taste buds. What I really appreciate about the place is there attentiveness to always grab another beer or ask us if we need one. When we first walked in we were able to be seated right away even though this place is very packed with people in the other simply amazed we were able to get a spot. This is my second time here and both times have been great I would highly recommend it to the other yelpers. There was just one small issue we had as we came with two people and as the others started arriving we needed a bigger table and was told briefly that we need to wait back in line within a few minutes a bigger table opened up and they gladly moved us over there is the reason for the 4 not the 5 star other than that we were able to enjoy the three hours or so we were there.

At 12.5% ABV, it's potent but also delicious! The whiskey caskets they seep them in really intensifies the flavor. This has to be my favorite Noi beer, though it only comes in bottle, not on tap. We tried a variety of food as well, such as the bruschetta, chicken strips, salad and chicken sausage. The bruschetta is usually delicious and comes with several pieces which is great for sharing. The frango crocante, is like chicken strips with a sweet mustard sauce, which is also idea for sharing. The arugula salad was topped with a light dressing and sun-dried tomatoes with a fist-size of mozzarella (huge!) and a mound of Parmesan bread- very filling. The chicken sausage was a huge plate with the chicken sausage coiled under a pile of potatoes. It is only for the truly hungry! All the food was great and service was good too. Definitely will be back.
