If you don't want to read the full review just know if you have a storage unit at I Storage in Clarksville you are paying double what you'd pay at Clarksville Self Storage. $45 a month at Clarksville for a 5x10 compared to $90 at I Storage on Pea Ridge Rd.
I have held off doing this review until I made sure no refund , no apology and no explanation was coming. It's been over a month now and none of those things have happened so here is the review I promised "I Storage", on Pea Ridge Rd, I'd be doing.
I've had a 5x10 storage unit at #IStorage on Pea Ridge rd for close to 3 years and never had an issue. I have them on auto pay with a credit card and it's been charged on the 3rd day of every month for $78. It started out 3 years ago at $69 and increased to $78 but I was given notice of the increase at least a month before the increase so no problem.
I happened to check my credit card statement in June and saw that in May and June I was charged $90 for my unit. I'd never received notice of an increase so I called the office. I was told they added insurance to my unit because I had no renters insurance on file. This was never a requirement before and I'd received no notice before they added the insurance. I have renters insurance and was happy to provide a copy but the manager told me I'd need to call corporate to get the charges refunded and removed going forward. I called the corporate office and they confirmed it was a charge for insurance and asked that I email the manager a copy of my policy and they'd make sure to refund the charge and notate my account. I emailed the copy of insurance and thought that was the end of it.
In July I checked my statement again and there was another $90 charge on July 3rd and no refunds or adjustments were made either. I called back to the local office and he couldn't figure out the problem but confirmed my insurance was fine and notated on my account. I called corporate and after being put on hold twice for extended periods so they could figure out the issue the representative finally came back on the line and said they had increased the rate to $90 on that unit. I told her I'd never received notice and they said it was sent a couple months prior. It was not and I asked why the lie about it being insurance if it was actuallya price increase. She would not answer. I was then told they could not issue refunds and that I'd need to contact the Regional Manager to get that done. I emailed 3 times with zero response and was never contacted to resolve the issue.
So, what that means is they were adding insurance to my unit to get the total to $90. When I proved I had insurance the unit magically goes up to $90. The truth is they wanted to charge $90 for the unit but because they failed to send notice they used the lie about insurance to charge me. When I produced the insurance they immediately went up to $90 with no notice. That is against consumer law but they are a big corporation and know the likelihood of someone taking them to court is very low.
I feel confident they will regret their thieving ways as their customers start reviewing their statements and moving to facilities with lower prices and honest customer service. I found the same size unit for exactly half the price at Clarksville Self Storage off Wilma Rudolph. I've been there almost 2 months with no issues. read more
