For their visit they had three assistants on hand to teach and help the kids. They started with a group activity, stretching, jumping, controlled running etc. Then they got about 40 minutes of free play then wrapped up with another group event which brought the kids back down just in time for CAKE. On the free play the instructors created various ramps, pads, tumbling, swings and a small bounce slide. The staff kept changing the design during the 40 minutes so the kids had fresh stuff to keep them entertained. They even got a trampoline exhibition from some of the staff. They love that. They have a small room off the main gym area where the kids had their cake and drinks. The staff was very attentive. It looked like they loved working with the kids and by all the smiles I know the kids loved it. Even the parents had smiles on their faces. 90 minutes was about right on the time. We only had a couple of meltdowns and I think anything longer we would have had more. If you have young one I would really suggest you consider this place for a birthday party for both boys and girls.

Porter Youth Center offers before and after school care, summer programs, and teen programs. Our…read morechild has attended for a year, through both a summer session and his Kindergarten school year. We love Porter and the people who work there. They have a variety of activities for the kids, offer breakfast before school and snacks in the afternoon, and have genuine care and concern for the children. Unfortunately, as it is located on the former Fort Ord, now the Ord Military Community, and it is funded in part by the Department of Defense, recently DoD policy has made it a military-dependent-only program. Still, if you qualify for it, it's well worth checking out.

Try somewhere else. If I could give them a zero, I would! The classrooms are ran by the kids. The…read morestaff spends more time on their phones out of view of the cameras and not paying attention to the kids. I have witnessed it several times. During the pandemic and currently, kids are seen running around yelling while kids are on their zoom calls. To many times the teachers on the zoom call have to ask the kids that are at Porter to mute their mics. The kids are unable to participate in classes properly or even hear their teachers. To add, if a child is having a difficult time, they coach your child to either throw things at the walls, if they misbehave, they get ipad time, and are allowed to play criminal games on the ipad called Roblox. When parents sit down with staff to address any issues or behaviors, they agree but do not follow through with the suggestions of the parents about their kids. They are not there to help your kids, but there for a paycheck. There have been times where I would go pickup my child from Porter and there is a report. Instead of the staff member for that day approach me professionally, they would place bets on who would run and tell me that my child had a bad day, laughing and carrying on. Very disappointing! Imagine being a service member and the before and after school (full-day) program stresses you the parent more than being in a high stress job already. What does that do for the child? Ill tell, they too feel some type of way. It is not difficult to communicate with parents on how to better provide for your child, it isnt. If they would actually listen and communicate with their staff, there would be progress! It is very stressful when other schools in the area have long waiting list so your stuck with a subpar something. Oh yeah, when you address the issues that you see, if they dont like it, they take it out on you and your child with reports. They dont like when you leave comments on the reports. They expect you to sign and call it a day because when they are audit, those reports are looked at. Choose your kids school wisely, it may save you and your family some stress.

By chance I learned of this secret gem co-op and was able to get a spot. This was my first experience in co-op and it was so much fun. And more importantly, was a wonderfully healing experience for me and my son (middle child who became a big-brother at the height of Covid.) Being in his class taught me how to be a better parent and gave me so many new strategies at home. Having the time together was very valuable to my son. Miss Kristen is beyond amazing with the children and extremely generous with her time, attention and love. Aside from everything I said above, the cost of this program is incredibly low and the financial savings we had from joining co-op helped off-set moving costs. It's an unbelievable value.

Would not recommend it!!!…read more Parenting classes are mandatory and a complete waste of time for an adult. So when it came to priorities it was an easy choice. We had a family member with a terminal illness and in the last weeks of their life, we chose to spend our evenings with them and missed a few "Parenting Classes" and were suspended. In the month before we talked about taking our child out of the class because of the constant coughing and runny noses in the classroom (to protect our family member and not have to wear a mask around them). Some kids were great and participated others just ran around and terrorized the other good kids. Some parents would get together right after school and talk while the kids played with hot wheels (usually 15 or 20 minutes), until we were asked to leave because the kids' sound bothered the school office's secretary.

I searched interviewed, and visited the various childcare facilities in the Monterey county area and was disappointed and frightened at some. She was very responsive and scheduled us to come and see her residence after all of the children were home. This told me that she took measures to keep the kids safe. While inside her residence her and her Family made me feel very welcome, gave me a packet of their curriculum, the schedule and gave me a background update about the years she's been working with children. She gave me all the information I needed to make a decision that same day but also insisted I go and do some more research to just verify that she was the right fit. And she was! Our daughter started her program the very next day and has been with her up until this year. Every day my daughter came home happy and told me all about the fun things they did throughout the day including learning the ABC's drawing math, reading books, playing in the outside play structures, making friends, naptime and puzzles. Whenever there was a misunderstanding with another student Marina was always available to answer my questions either via text or call or in person. Marina always made time to give me an update about my child's day which I very much appreciated as I know she was busy.
