The excitement with which my child talks about the day's work, and the enthusiasm for learning that has been instilled, are very encouraging. I truly appreciate the Montessori approach, especially the practical life aspect, which has positively shaped my child's day-to-day habits. I'm also grateful for school's effort to educate parents on the Montessori philosophy and methods, as there is a lot that I have been able to incorporate into my home life with positive results for my family. The teachers were continually patient and understanding with my child, who had long stretches of regularly getting upset during the drop-off time. I would highly recommend Auburn's House to any parent!

My son and daughter attended for over 4 years, all very important years and they would not be the amazing kids they are today without the guidance, love and structure they were given at Auburn's House. The Peace Table is one of my favorite examples of ways kids grow here. Children settle differences at a small child size table, with only one kid talking about their feeling at a time (whoever is holding the flower gets to talk). Everyone has a chance to be heard and to explain how they feel, reinforcing to kids that their feeling matter and that they matter. The adults do not interject right away, the let the children have the opportunity to be problem solvers and peacemakers. My children brought this into our home, after learning it at school, and they still use it with one another to this day. The things we learned from the teachers at Auburn's house helped us grow as parents! Mr. Joseph gave us tips and techniques to try at home with our son, that when followed almost always worked! They really understand children and their needs at this school and I am so thankful to have found it! It is worth EVERY penny spent, and then some!!

We visited a few schools in the area, as well as around San Francisco prior to moving to Monterey, but didn't find a place that we were comfortable with until Ryan Ranch. I called Ryan Ranch the moment I heard of it from a nanny at the park and was super impressed upon learning about their curriculum from Miss. Kelly over the phone. I went in the next day to tour the facility and knew it was exactly where my 2-year-old belonged. I went back again the following day with my daughter and husband, and they felt the exact same way as me. It was such a pleasure to see my very shy 2-year-old jump up and down asking if she could stay. Things that stood out to us were the structure, the learning opportunities being offered and the fact that the children seemed very happy. Now, two months in, we are happier than we imagined we could be. My daughter is well taken care of, and though she went in with far more knowledge than a typical 2-year-old, she is still learning new things. She has become more confident, outgoing, and self-sufficient, which has been a real pleasure to watch over such a short time. The owner, Miss Loretta, goes above and beyond, and is very easy to connect with and talk to. TLDR: The Children's Center is a safe and inspiring environment for a child to learn and grow, and I would recommend it for any parents that are looking for more than a typical daycare for their young children.

I was actually pleasantly surprised at how quickly she transitioned to the new school. We really love the staff, both teachers and administrators. They are sweet people always smiling and ready to help, they are also very professional. I am especially grateful that kids don't have to be potty trained, she is 3 and still having some accidents, but there's no pressure. It's a good learning environment in many ways. We also love the outside area, it has a good size playground. My daughter loves, loves, loves to swing. The site is very secure and clean. I love that they pray with the kids, and learn from the Bible. My son is at Anthem Christian School next door and it's very convenient to drop them off together! Plus once my baby is two I can take her to daycare here too, again avoiding extra hassle. And there's a sibling discount. We are very happy with both schools.

A teacher could not leave at any point without being out of ratio, which is very concerning given how young the kids are. (Example: a toddler who was already potty trained asked to go potty and was told they put a pull up on her so they didn't need to take her and put them out of ratio) The teacher for the 2 year olds seemed very dry and gave very little verbal praise during activities. Nothing about the instruction or preschool aspect of it seemed to be very stimulating. (no singing or excitement) In addition, the toys outside were mostly either very dirty or just broken, even right at the beginning of the day. Teachers didn't play games or interact with children unless it was for help or cry. Granted what they charge a week, this place is 100% not worth it.

We are a military family and last year we chose a different private school for our daughter. The tuition was more expensive and the campus was nicer, but it was lacking in many aspects, like academics and social environment. At Monterey Bay Christian School everybody is really nice and we can tell from the very beginning that everyone involved in the school genuinely cares about the growth of every single student there. Everybody has been very welcoming. Our daughter loves her teachers, classmates, and is looking forward to going to school every single day. We have witnessed a huge, positive change in our daughter thanks to MBCS. We are impressed with the level of academics and our daughter's teacher is making sure that she is at level with the other students after being at such mediocre school last year. At first we were concerned about choosing a Christian school since we are Catholic and very relaxed in our religious practices. We were afraid that religion would be pushed too much or something. It is not like that. Our daughter loves the religion class, the daily prayers, and they go to the chapel just one day per week. It is actually nice to know that she is learning many positive things and nothing is radical or weird. Also, we like that many of the families at MBCS are military and also the fact that the student body is very diverse. As I said before, I will write updates in the future, but so far I could not be happier.

Both graduated at top of their classes. MBCS had about 15 in older son's 8th grade class and younger son's graduating 8th grade class had about 4 due to some staff changes that parents did not like. The education was still good and MBCS dealt with small class size (something the public schools complain about) by combining some grades. Which was not us parents' preference, but it worked. After all, the USA somehow survived long ago in the "one room school house" days of combined grades. It worked and our younger son graduated and went on to MVCS in Watsonville, like his older brother which was an academic kick butt school at least until his senior year when new leadership made changes the staff and students did not like ("IB" etc) and lost experienced teachers. MBCS is affordable at around $7,000 a year. Classes small. Teachers dedicated. They try hard for a small Christian school. And teach both academics for high school prep and good citizenship (Bible teachings) though one does not have to be a professed Christian to attend. Older son went on to MVCS (Watsonville) and was a top student and got a merit scholarship and then on to U.C.Davis which was good on classes but totally sucked at helping him get into a grad school. Davis did nothing to help. Happily older son made a friend of one professor who helped him get accepted into a good grad school in PA, Marywood University (Catholic) where I think she was alumni, and where he did well, got a job in his major and now works full time and is happy with everything but the weather (hot summers, cold winters...not Monterey, CA weather for sure!) It took a lot of effort to even get older son's diploma out of U.C.Davis...huge school, huge classes, huge graduation and so next to nothing in support timeliness and help. Plus did forced "get covid shots or get kicked out" right before classes started so no time to change schools. Younger was a top student at MBCS (the small, mixed grades classes did not hurt...maybe helped with so much individualized teacher/student attention), and then became a top student at MVCS and when applying for college, applied about a dozen schools and was accepted by all. He went to Simpson University in Redding, did well. Good teachers, ho hum counseling dept. A modest sized Christian college where he did well. Worst was 4 in a dorm room for Freshmen, after that he got double rooms with a friend as RA (dorm resident assistant. RA was a good deal...got 1/2 price on cafeteria and free room in dorm as I recall. Plus a $20,000 academic scholarship per year for 4 years. Which was nice for a $50k/year private college (tuition, books/fees, dorm, meals). Then he applied to grad schools, where all but SFSU (San Francisco) the last college I attended, accepted him and is now at Sacramento State University in a very tough doctoral grad program that makes him glad his previous schools were academically intense. So two kids, one now working for a couple hospitals (one full time and one part time) and one a top student due to intense hard work with a heavy, exhausting medical-related academic load, both got their start to successes at MBCS. A small, humble, caring K-8th Seaside, CA Christian school where they began. So yes, I like MBCS because it started out two kids out to a path to successes. And our young niece there is happy. Has friends and likes the teachers. Where could MBCS do better? It could send graded quizzes, tests, etc home each Friday so parents could get weekly "how their kid is doing?" feedback. I think that would be a very helpful idea. Weekly academics feedback instead of less frequent parent/teacher conferences. RH

Although, they do get kind of combative over silly rules in not the most professional way. However, i think people need to realize that if you are a student at CSUMB and are using the day care during your semester you will have to continue to pay 700 a month even during the summer and winter breaks to keep your spot. (This is unlike any other college day care ive ever seen). They do not care about the consistency of the child or the well being of the child the are there to make profits. I was under the impression we would be able to hold our spot but apparently thats not true and dis enrolled us but not before cashing the check we sent them for January that we can not get back because they put that toward the rest of December (which i paid for the few days my child attended. 300 hundred or so) . So even though they dis enrolled us they still were happy to cash our check. Also, we have had 3 different people taking care of our paper work on the business end and the newest one send my husband and i a letter demanding we get our child up to date on her shot by the end of the week (it was wednesday) or we will be dis enrolled. Well, she was up to date so we were like you need to be better trained or something. But no she was sure we were missing 5 at first then it was like 2-3 . I dont think she was sure either. So i gave her the same exact piece of paper that i gave them originally and everything was ok. She apologized. I was furious. This women up rails our life during exam week and demands we do these things or we wont have day care; But i always said i would put up with it because i didnt want to take my daughter away from her friends. But they dont care about that not one bit. Im reporting them to the BBB and see if we can take legal action to get our money back. One more point that i thought was important. They have no real curriculum its pretty much an over priced day care, the child are not taught to sit and write their names to prepare for kindergarten. I would just like to add a quick update. I tried showing my toddler pictures of her new school and she started crying saying she wanted to go to her school so she could see her friends. Thank you again early child development services. Apparently the only people who dont have to pay to keep their spot are the ones who are on government assistance. So thats fair.
