Ismael did a fabulous job recovering our sofa, sleeper and chair. He added padding to the back cushion in the chair. The welting and dust ruffle came out perfectly. We could not be happier with the results. It's hard to find true craftsman today when everything is made in China. Ismael is a treasure. He offers true value for his service. read more

We have a sleeper sofa for 10 years and the seat cushions required new foam. We chose Ismael based on some older Yelp reviews. We met Ismael at his home and we immediately felt confident that we had met a professional. He was personable but thoroughly technical when it came to his recommendations. He gave us sample of various foam firmness and he requested we sit on each. We chose extra firm. He explained he needed to order and they should be ready in one week as it was July 4 holiday. Well, a couple of days later July 7 they were ready. I find it amazing an upholsterer can make cushions look and feel brand new. The new cushions are back on the sofa now and they are perfect and even better than the original cushions. Unfortunately, Ismael's trade is a vanishing one. People forget that old can be made to look and feel new again. Do not dispose of older furniture that needs new fabric or foam/stuffing. Contact Ismael and you will not be sorry. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

Wife - "what's that flaky stuff under your chair?" Me - "what flaky stuff? Uh-oh! Must be from me sitting in these chairs on Zoom calls the last few months!" She - "no worries. I've been meaning to re-upholster them anyway. Let me look into it." Me - "huh? Ok." So that's how we ended up hauling our four tall dining chairs to Ismaels garage cum workshop in Dublin earlier this month. He was the more transparent of the two local businesses we found on Yelp, and his prices were not too outrageous, so we tried him first. Ismael helped us pick out the right type of foam (we chose medium firm) and the right cover (we preferred a left-over fragment vs. ordering something new from the catalog). He said it would take a week (it took 6 days). With labor and materials the total cost was $390, a hundred or so cheaper than buying a new set of chairs from IKEA. Moreover, it felt good making an environmentally friendly choice, and supporting a local business during the COVID pandemic was the right thing to do. But perhaps most importantly, Ismael did a superb job - the missus and I were very happy with the transformation of our drab chairs into something out of the Arabian Nights (see before-after pics). Thank you Ismael - because of your professional work, I have a comfortable seat during those unending Zoom calls, plus I don't have to deal with snarky comments about "flaky stuff" under my chair anymore! read more

wow! We just had Usmael upholster two large sofas and two easy chairs. We could not more be pleased, impressed or appreciative of his work. Every phase of our interactions with him was excellent. Promptness in his home visits, huge selection of fabrics, very helpful thoughts on what would fit with our wishes and our room, a very fair price with excellent value, frequent email updates on progress, a declared finish date which was met early and a perfect result. We are writing from a perspective of over 60 years of working with upholsterers on our possessions. This current experience exceeded all of our previous ones. We sincerely hope that this unsolicited review reflects our strong positive experience and our respect for this professional. read more

Called 10:07 am, Friday, based on ratings on Yelp. Here's the interaction: Looking in Yelp, for 'auto re-upholstery" - this company had FiVE (legitimate??) STARS I called the #: Male response: "Hello" (Note: no identification of who they are, nor, with whom I was speaking - big flags) My reply: "Hello, what company is this?" Male response: "What company do you want?" My reply: "I'm trying to find a certain company, recommended, that is at least capable of identifying itself, & the person picking up the phone." Male response: "Don't call this number then." He hung up on me. Are you serious! Singularly unappealing individual, if I must say so myself. I again made the call, on a separate line - to ascertain the number was correct, to give him/them the benefit of any doubt. Indeed, it was the CORRECT NUMBER. Ladies & Gentlemen: I was polite and direct. I'm in healthcare - when you p/u an incoming call, you identify your business, or department, AND, your name ... PERiOD ... NO SUBSTiTUTiONS ! ! ! It's business. Period ! ! How can ANY business, that answers a customer inquiry, or call, WiTHOUT identifying - NOT ONLY the business itself, but, equally important, that person answering the phone call itself - expect "ANY" intelligent customer to do business with the same. But, worse yet, to provide a response such as I was given, is unforgivable. Outrageous behavior - I highly recommend one NOT conduct any business with these people. It appears that the YELP recommendations were a farce - something I was banking on, in order to find a legitimate business to repair my auto upholstery. Don't 'blindly' accept YELP's stars !! This guy was RUDE - I, was not. YELP's stars were apparently all FRAUDULENT ! Wow - what an -opener ! ! Should be ZERO STARS - the system does NOT allow such. read more

We are so thankful to Ismael for making our old beloved sofa and side chair with ottoman beautiful!!! He was very professional with his advice and expertise! Very much appreciated his recommendations and attentiveness to details! The whole process was very smooth. Sent photos of my furniture to him with measurements. He came to look at them. Made an estimate depending on the material I chose. He brought me a bunch of upholstery material books to look at. Ordered the fabric. When the fabric arrived, he called me to pick up the furniture. Two weeks later, he was done!!! They are beautiful!!! So Grateful and Thankful!!! read more

Ismael worked with us on a custom Airstream interior project. He was helpful and friendly every step of the way, and the finished product was GORGEOUS (despite my choosing a difficult fabric to work with). He made sure we got exactly what we wanted, was reasonably priced, and very time-efficient. Thanks so much! read more

Ismael was wonderful to work with. I found him here on Yelp and had no previous experience or knowlege of him or his work...I only saw that others rated him highly. I was not disappointed. From beginning to end, Ismael was professional, knowledgeable, great to work with and reasonably priced....and the job was done within a week. I had six dining room chairs reupholstered. His knowledge not only of the type of wood, but also of how to best position the fabric/pattern I chose, was outstanding. I picked them up today and they're PERFECT. He also replaced the padding and the weave at the bottom of each chair. The boxed welting also looks great. Perfectly aligned, sewn and crafted. I have to say that I called other shops to have this work done. When some told me that there was an additional charge of $18/yard if I didn't purchase the fabric from them, I was a little turned off. This is not the case with Ismael. He runs his shop from his home but please don't let this deter you. He is very professional. Please consider Ismael for any upholstery needs you may have. You will not be disappointed. read more

Ismael was the most responsive and friendliest of all the companies I contacted when I finally decided to get my two stools reupholstered. Since no one else returned my calls, I can't compare his prices but I was very happy with the results for the price. I got to pick the fabric--and the workmanship, turnaround time and the general interaction with him was great. He was willing to work around my schedule for the delivery and when he got stuck in traffic on his way he called to let me know so we could work something else out. read more

I cant say enough about Ismael's great work, professionalism and friendly customer service. He reupholstered an old 1940's barber chair for me (I took the pieces off my chair and brought them to him), and he did such an amazing job beyond my expectations. What spoke volumes for me was that he was willing to work on my chair pieces when both a Furniture Upholstery store and an Auto Upholstery store both passed the buck. Ismael's honesty and friendly service have earned my business for future barber chair reupholstering and any furniture pieces too! Thank you sir!!! read more

We had several pieces of furniture that we needed re-upholstered and Ismael did all of them. he is a real "find." Two of the pieces were very old oak (Mission Style) chairs--one a rocking chair--that had been in storage and needed a great deal of rehabilitation. Ismael not only upsholstered them and fixed the springs in one--he also cleaned up the wood so that they nonw look great. He also made seat cushions for four chairs, and constructed a cushion for a long window seat. Ismael is extremely skilled. He gets his work finished when he says he will, and he was able to pick up the furniture and deliver it (to Pt. Richmond) with no extra charge. Ismael is a lovely person and a great craftsman. Can' recommend him too hightly. read more
