My husband stayed in the memory care unit for respite. The staff was excellent and caring. They did fun activities that my husband loved. I gave it four stars instead of five because I did not like the layout. The place is huge and it was a long walk from my husband's room to the living area. read more

This facility is amazing. My parents (mom had Alzheimer's/father has dementia) were mistreated by another facility (they were abused so much my father stopped speaking and both parents had scabbies from urine soaked mattress that they didn't put waterproof covers I KEPT buying, on and on). Isle has such a good reputation with independent caregivers that one actually told us to leave where we were (located in Mans/Arl border) and told us to check out Isle. We did. In just over 30 days, my father learned to trust again and began speaking. The food is so good, the care is amazing, the atmosphere is just what you would want if your loved one has to be there ... The facility is beautiful and priced accordingly. The staff turnover has left us wanting in many ways for an expedite response to the use of my loved one's call button; they've suffered needlessly awaiting medication for hours; even simple ice for acute arthritic disease. I've regularly stayed overnight at the facility so I was able to see the interaction of all staff, at all hours. The amenities are very nice and if the staff's knowledge and tenure allowed them to fully comprehend their responsibilities and or execution of the daily processes, it would allow my family to be better cared for; you do not always get what you pay for - be very diligent if you select this facility. read more

I offer my highest recommendation of the Isle at Watercrest, Mansfield, TX. Your Staff is attentive, patient, and professional. Your Community is clean, the rooms are large, and the amenities, from onsite library, to media room, to onsite Physical Therapy, to 24/7 onsite RN, are impressive. What I appreciate most is the compassion that you show to your Residents, and the support that you provide to Family members. My mom has been at this facility for a month and we are very impressed. The therapy and therapists are outstanding. They all come in to celebrate the small success with her. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms and other facilities are very nice. We asked if we could host a small dinner party for my mom last Sunday after dinner hours. We were able to bring in food and friends and sit around the dining room and visit. It was an incredible boost for my mom. No facility is perfect and there always things that we can find fault with, but overall this has been a very good experience and my mom had thrived and been safe, which is all we can really ask for. read more

I have serious concerns about this facility. My mom is being isolated from her family, denied visits, no phone in the room and no way to contact her. She says that she has never seen the doctor, even though they are prescribing her a number of medications, including anti-psychotics, dementia, and sedatives-essentially throwing the book at her without having a qualified neurologist evaluate her care. I am trying to get her out of here, but I would like to know if others have similar stories. She is frightened and alone. read more

This review is in specific response to the review posted by Mary K on 3/24/15. I'm truly saddened to see that a family member has such negative comments of Watercrest based on what appears to be misinformation. I'm qualified to comment because my husband has been a resident in memory care since 2013. I am at the facility every day for an extended period of time unless I'm out of town. Now, I know not every family member has that ability and I am honored and privileged to be able to spend as much time as I do at Watercrest with my husband. First, the current director of nursing, Amy, is a most caring and compassionate individual. Her level of professionalism is truly topnotch. I can honestly say that I have never witnessed favoritism toward any resident or staff person by Amy. I have experienced and witnessed only fairness, care and concern for all the residents and I challenge Mary to give examples of said favoritism to Mark and Amy based on first-hand experience. I assure you that if there were evidence of favoritism by Amy, Mark Terry was would quickly respond and take appropriate action. As for her comments about residents left to fend for themselves for feeding. This is simply not true! Most of the residents are able to feed themselves. My husband is not. Never, ever have I seen a resident who needs assistance with feeding left to "fend for themselves." What does occur at EVERY meal is that those residents are brought to the tables among the other residents (socialization), and as soon as all the meals are distributed to everyone, the staff will sit with the ones who need help with feeding. Since I do not see Miss Mary there during meals, I'm unclear how she can report this is going on. If she is getting this feedback from her mother's private caregiver about this, I wonder if she has spoken directly to Mark or Amy about her concerns. Again, if indeed this was going on, either of them would address it quickly. As for private duty caregivers in the facility: my husband has one, as do others who have been there in the past. I have only witnessed positive exchanges between the staff and private caregivers, including the one with Mary's mother. While at times there have been personality clashes that have had to be dealt with, never have Steve's private duty caregivers felt unwelcome at Watercrest; nor, have I felt that the staff and representatives of Watercrest didn't support my decision for the extra care and, in fact, I found that they all are willing work together as a cohesive team. I am very surprised to read that Mary felt the staff or representatives of Watercrest made her feel she was in the wrong for wanting to know her mother had fallen. I agree that notification to the family needs to occur as soon as an incident occurrs. My husband does not have good balance and is at risk for falling. I can say that I have only had one experience when I was not notified and as soon it was discovered that he'd fallen. Amy was quick to respond to that oversight. Is Watercrest perfect? No. But what is perfection? Anytime I have a concern, I share it with the appropriate person there and, for the most part, my concerns are addressed quickly. It may not always be the response I desire but it is addressed, always. A family member once said to me that no place and no one will be able to provide the level of care that I would and she's right. But I can't do it all, nor can I do it by myself. So after much research and weighing options for keeping my husband home or placing him in a safe, comfortable, caring environment, I have found Watercrest to be the closest to "home" as I could hope for. Because of the caring support of the Amy and her staff, my family has wonderful care partners whom are an extension of us. This enables me and our family to focus on spending quality time with my husband all the while knowing he is being well cared for. I wish Mary the best in finding what she needs for her mother who is a very sweet lady. The Isle at Watercrest may not be the place for her, but I strongly felt the need to respond with another opinion from someone with first-hand experience. Knowing that potential future residents and family may be reading these reviews and basing their decision on them, I would stand behind Watercrest and Amy as being a high quality, caring place for their loved one. read more

My mother has been at this facility for quite a while. She went from assisted living to memory care. The care has gotten progressively worse. The manager and the Director of Nursing seem to operate by favoritism not professionalism. They have residents that need feeding, that are just given trays and left to fend for themselves. My mother was left naked and incontinent in her bed to fend for herself. Luckily we stopped by and found her like this. They told me she had been left like that all day because she wanted to be. They do not like having our private duty caregivers in the facility. They seem to think we dont need the help. But clearly we do . My mother was found on the floor and I was not notified for 6 hours. Then they made it out that I was in the wrong for wanting to know that my mother had fallen. My mother was in the hospital for a week and the DON never came to check on her. Protocall calls for a visit within three days. My mother wound up in the hospital for a week and could not walk or talk. All because they would not treat her when I said there was a problem. Now that she is home I want the private duty people to sit with her at lunch and eat with her while helping her eat. They will not allow it. I am in the process of moving her, but the new facility has no openings as of yet. The new facility is even more expensive, not like I am moving her to save money. I just hope it is better care than at the Isles in Mansfield read more
