This grocery store and gas station took over the space vacated by the very briefly present Wal-Mart convenience store, and is a huge improvement over that atrocity. Walking in, the improvements over the Wal-Mart are easy to see. Attractive interior that doesn't feel overstuffed. A large variety of fresh foods and meats. There is even a small bakery and deli counter where you can order sandwiches to go. One of the best parts of this location, however, is that they have quite an impressive beer selection (wine, too)! You'll find everything from standard domestics all the way up to local, state, and larger craft brews. I picked up a 6 pack of "Not your Mother's Iced Tea" because who doesn't want to sip on a cold tea laced with a bit of alcohol while lazing on the beach?? This place really packs a lot of great services into their smaller location. They also double as a gas station, propane retailer, and red box movie stop. Be sure and support the pig when you're in town, so we don't have to drive all the way to Bayboro to get groceries again!

But the real gem is the case at the front of the store next to the register that holds the HUGE homemade truffles. I did not get a picture of them all because I ate them too quickly, but I got the banana split, the pb fudge, strawberry something or other and they all were fantastic. I probably wouldn't venture here at night alone, but during the day, it had all of the things we needed: paper towels, ice, and some snacks. Nothing special about Big Daddy's, except maybe the name, and the Christmas decor on the outside, but it did meet our needs on this Sunday afternoon in Beaufort.

Also stocked downstairs and upstairs is kitchenware, tea towels, and antique tins and trays. I love the candy shop, full of "penny" candy from yesteryear and an ice cream shop in the back. For your tots, there's a large selection of toys and puppets, puzzles and more. I had a Blast moseying around Parsons store filling my basket with bygone treasures. After we browsed a bit, and spent a fair sum on well priced trinkets (I fell in love with a bicycle planter that I got on sale!), we set a spell on the rustic white porch and watched the whirligigs do their thing.
