"Upstairs was closed until..." Which was a total bummer. Where we wanted to look was upstairs. Don't get me wrong, there was a good amount of items to look at downstairs, but as the name implies, it was just general. It's a nice set up inside and it does in fact make you feel like you are in an old time general store. Employees were polite and a delight to deal with. Sticker shock! It is a nice store with a decent selection but they are jamming it to the customer as far as prices go. When we were checking out we asked if there was anything open as far as restaurants. They literally looked at us, scoffed and said no, everything closed at 9. Ok, well good to know but you don't need to make people feel like they are stupid when they ask you something. Had we not have paid already I would have left those items on the counter and walked out. We didn't return the remainder of our stay. We purposely went out of our way to go elsewhere. There is a small store nearby, a Dollar General up the way as well as a grocery store. Don't waste your time or money here. Unless you just like getting ripped off for no reason. read more

Solid general store. It's so nice not to have to take a trip 20+ min to the Food Lion when you can take a 5min bike ride to the general store. The best part... they had absolutely everything we needed. Like I said- solid general store. And prices were reasonable. As long as you're not picky you'll be fine. It's a tight store. There's a ton of variety, but small selection of each. Plus: nice amount of gluten free items including crackers, chips, frozen meal items, wraps. A better wine/beer selection than I've seen in many stand alone wine/beer stores. A fresh produce stand. Non food items for purchase, such as decor and kitschy items. Very helpful and friendly staff (or owners?). Great cheese selection. Paper bags only! Minus: the produce was hit or miss.... Some items looked fantastic while others sat on the open table moldy. Not a great selection if you're looking for organic, or to stick with a specific brand. If you're the kind of person/family that isn't picky and is creative with cooking, this is the place for you. If your kids need Tyson nuggets and Kraft cheese sticks... maybe not so much. read more

A Hatteras staple. More than 15 years ago the store was rebuilt, from a lonely remote general store with creaky wooden plank floors into the tidy and more modern shop you see today. Despite the rebuilding and the loss of old tyme charm it is still a place to grab that beach towel you forgot to pack, that styrofoam cooler you didn't have room for, a six pack of micro-brew for the beach, and a hoodie sweatshirt for your toddler for a night on the beach hunting ghost crabs. Rude staff. Older grandma tried to discipline my kids who were harmlessly looking around the store. And then when confronted with her rudeness continued in her attempt to lecture. Also, the prices here are twice as high as anywhere else. Go up to Frisco or Buxton. Conners has a better selection of almost everything. read more

Bypass Food Lion. Same for Burrus. And go right to Lee Robinson's General Store. They've got a little bit of everything that you would expect at a general store...souvenirs, toys, candy, coolers, ice, wood...but their grocery section is solid. Whipping up Italian tonight...got it. Mexican...same. Sandwiches...covered. Baking...yup, even that. Great beer & wine selection. Fresh baked bread. Then hit the fresh produce stand across the street...try some Sticky Bottom salsa or jelly or dressing. We won't stop anywhere else during our time in the Frisco area. Very friendly. Very fun. They have EVERYTHING! Literally everything and anything you could possibly need. It was really nice being able to find the little randoms things we wanted while on Hatteras for vacation. They even had coconut oil! As far as groceries go, I feel the prices were fair. And I thought the beer/wine selection would be marked up like crazy, but the prices were cheaper than the wine I bought at home to bring on vacation. Overall, I was very pleased with the General Store and will definitely return. They also have cute t-shirts, fudge, bulk, candy, boiled peanuts. I mean it when I said they have everything! read more

The staff us super friendly. The store is conveniently located in Hatteras Village. Their prices are a little high. The food selection is very limited. We were disappointed when we discovered some of what we bought was expired, so probably a good idea to look at the labels. read more

I love Lee Robinson's! My family has been staying in Hatteras Village for decades and we don't know what we would do without this store! They have everything that you need / forgot to pack and some great t-shirts to boot! This past week was a little rainy so on one of our many trips, we stopped in to pick up a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle and a couple of make your own six packs (they have a pretty good craft beer selection). Fun times! FYI - there is a great produce stand across the street so you should stop by there while visiting L.R's. read more

Great store run by people who are kind and care about the quality of the products they sell. This is not the place I'd come for all my staples or protein but by far it has the best wine and beer selection on the island, not to mention they have a good cheese and charcuterie selection. Where else could you find a Napa cab, a chianti classico and a sparkling brachetto with bud lite and a Belgium iambic in Hatteras? The wearables are well priced and are not some of the scary bedazzled Ed Hardy variety they sell at the ferry pier. The fudge is very good too. read more

The merchandise is very nice but the checkout lady could use some customer service training..... she acts like you (the customer) is an inconvenience. I was in LRGS last year (2012) and she was there..... I went away with a "bad taste" in my mouth with her attitude but thought maybe she was having a bad day. My husband and I visited the store again this year because I wanted to show him the beer selection. The same lady was at the checkout and she was even more unfriendly (short sarcastic remarks and harsh answers). Too bad! read more

Good for light groceries and booze. It was well kept and the staff was friendly. I would choose this over Burrus Red & White every time.
