One of Doug's many strengths is his sensitive and caring nature when dealing with people who just lost a loved one. Doug and his technicians were compassionate, professional and helped us to overcome a very tough time in our lives. Doug met us at the house the day I contacted him, and literally handled us with kid gloves to help us cope with a tough cleanup scene as well as the pain from our loss. He knew we were struggling and seemed more concerned with our well-being than trying to "close the deal!" He thoroughly explained his estimate for the cleanup and encouraged me to obtain more estimates from other companies. Obviously, my wife and I decided to hire ITS and could not have been happier with the service provided at the house and, more importantly, the compassionate and kind mannerisms of the people who dealt with us. Surprisingly, at the conclusion of the job, Doug informed me that the cleanup took less time than his original estimate stated and that he would be adjusting the bill. Not only did Doug stay true to his word about the bill, but he followed up with us for a few months after to see how we were faring. Recently, we had a tragic event occur in a relative's home which left us in need for a trauma/biohazard cleaning service. After speaking with a few companies we decided to go with Island Trauma Services/Steri-Clean as we were very comfortable with the level of professionalism we received while initially estimating the cost of the mediation. The gentleman with whom we worked, Doug, was extremely sensitive and understanding in his handling of our situation. He was responsive and thorough in his communication with us throughout the process. I requested he provide me with pictures during mediation and he did so willingly. The pictures of the work they did were exactly as as is illustrated in their youtube video. This was an especially difficult situation as the family member's home was a great distance from ours. ITS dealt handled everything remotely and made this difficult situation much easier to deal with. They took great care in identifying and mitigating the contaminants and went above and beyond our expectations for what we felt was a fair price. This was especially important to us as our home insurance did not provide us with any assistance. I have never written so effusively in an online review, however after this experience I felt the need to leave an honest review for those who may find themselves in such a similar, traumatic situation. Island Trauma Services provided excellent, extremely professional, caring and compassionate service for my sister and I during a very difficult time. Our mother passed away in her home several weeks ago, and my sister and I were faced with cleaning things up as quickly as possible. We interviewed three different companies and decided on Island Trauma very quickly. We were so appreciative of how professional and informative Doug and Nils were when they came to look at the house, and give us an estimate. They showed up early the day of our appointment. They answered all of our questions, and provided us with information we didn't even think of or know to ask for. We have never gone through anything like this before, and Island Trauma made it a very easy decision for us to choose them to help us. They were able to complete the remediation and cleanup in one day, where other companies told us it would take 3-4 days. The day of the cleanup, their crew showed up early, and got to work right away. They were all kind, compassionate and hard working. They made what was an extremely stressful situation a lot easier for us to deal with. The cleanup was completed at the exact time they promised, and everything went as we had hoped. It was a stroke of luck that my family was put into contact with Doug Baruchin and his team at ITS, but it was a choice made quickly after speaking with Doug. We were faced with a hoarding situation which was further complicated by all of us living in different places - me all the way in California. Island Trauma Services is professional, prompt and very caring. They make the entire process for you very comfortable and easy. Dough the owner is very nice, professional and prompt. He came out almost immediately to give me a quote and was also available to provide the services at the date I needed. The pricing is very competitive and they do a great job. A written quote was provided within few hours of visiting the premises. On the day of the services they arrived promptly on time with all the supplies that they had discussed. Since the apartment was in the building, they were very courteous and respectful towards the building, its management and the other tenants. They did the job in a very professional way and in the time they had allotted. They were very courteous to me. Also very careful and finished the job in compliance with all the regulations. I was really happy with what they did and would not hesitate to call back in case i need their services again. Being faced with the task of having a friends apartment cleaned while she was in the hospital was not an easy project. I was turned down by four cleaning companies due to the condition of the residence. The moment I spoke with Doug I knew I found the right service to assist me. Doug and his team helped us clean up our new apartment. Why did we need industrial cleaning? Because the woman who lived her before us (for 20 years) was a chain smoker and the cigarette smell was oozing out of the walls. I spoke with Doug several times before booking the job and he was always helpful. Never pushy or speaking out of self-interest, he really had our best interests at heart. He guided us toward the right cleaning solution for our needs and suggested we follow up with a painter and an oil-based primer because of the specifics of our situation.
