The air-conditioning vents covered in black mold

I stayed here for two nights and unfortunately had a very concerning experience with cleanliness and maintenance. The bathroom had visible black mold, including around the AC unit, and the air vents were heavily clogged with dust and debris. The walls, especially in the bathroom, had noticeable streaking and buildup. The shower fixture was loose and appeared to be leaking into the wall. The vent in the wall was covered by cardboard and there was a dead cockroach sticking to it. The floors were extremely dirty--after walking barefoot for just a few minutes, my feet were black from dirt. What was most concerning is that this did not appear to be an isolated issue. A guest staying a couple doors down told me she was dealing with the same conditions and allowed me to see her room, which had similar problems. At checkout, another guest overheard my complaint and mentioned "black mold in the bathroom" as well. When I brought this to the front desk, I was not given clear assistance or direct access to management, and the issue was not resolved during my stay. Not only was I treated with disrespect from the front desk staff but when I asked for the manager she refused to give me any information other than their business card. I wrote a long email and sent it to the address that was on the card and my email was sent back to me and said there was no email address of this name. I documented the conditions and would strongly recommend that management address these issues immediately, as they may pose health concerns--especially for anyone with respiratory sensitivities.

Bug that ATE US ALIVE in the BED!

DO NOT STAY HERE --unless you want to be eaten alive by bugs!!! We stayed at the Island Sun Inn and were eaten alive by bugs in our bed, and when we asked for a two night refund that the desk person promise, we were denied it. Not only were we denied, but the management was condescending and rude--the opposite of hospitable. They denied that the bugs (that we videoed in the bed) were even the cause of the problem. Cheap place that has no desire to make it right when their customers are wronged. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Bed bug bites!

Do not stay here!!!!! I stayed here three years ago and thought it was okay for the price. I ended up with bites all over my body and thought I got them while on the beach. However, I stayed a second time three years later just last weekend and suffered the same bites all over my body without going to the beach. Went to my doctor and sure enough..... bed bugs!!!!! Do not stay here!

Seniors beware

An absolute disaster. I have already reported it to the State licensing agency. I was repeatedly cursed at by the manager, sludge came out of the sink, house keeping did not clean and I was told by the manager that I had sex with my mother. I am a senior citizen. He was decades younger and bullied me.

Blatant ADA Violation I was checking into the hotel and voluntarily told them I had 2 service dogs. They demanded I provide an ID card (FL has an over 2yr old law that would actually criminally charge me if I produced such a fraudulent document). I then told them what the dogs were for (NES/ASD), and they informed me, no ID no room. Under the same FL law, they are in violation of demanding fake documentation, along with blatently violating the way a business is supposed to question a disabled individual. When I stood my ground, he deemed that he would allow my "pets" just this once. If they hadn't already charged my card, I would of left in a heartbeat, after filing charges. As of now I will leave it with the FL disability committee and pursue from there.

Beware their 18% tax ruined it. Stayed 3 weeks & no discount. Didn't like how manager handled it. I called him out.

Absolutely do not bring your family. One word. Bugs. And no reimbursement if you choose to not want to sleep under those conditions!

Lemon with water was presented to us right away. From that point on we were well cared for. The food was excellent. The plate presentation was gorgeous and the food well prepared. We were quickly lead to a table way in the back but facing a glass window allowing us a nice view of the lake. Our waitress was not the best....drinks took a bit to arrive, bread was provided halfway through drinks, right before our food arrived, and we felt kind of rushed. My husband was really bothered by the smell of fish. It wasn't the pleasant smell of a nice fish dish cooking, more like the smell of raw fish in a fish shop. I noticed it but it didn't get to me like it affected him. The food was good, but nothing memorable. There isn't a lot of Gluten Free options. I never hold that against any restaurant just thought I'd mention it for us unfortunate folks that can't have Gluten. If we happened to be in the area we'd probably go back for drinks and apps at the bar but would make a special trip.

I debated whether to leave a review because this resort is seriously a hidden gem that I want to keep secret for us (lol!). It's clean (this coming from a germaphobe), beds were comfortable, and our bungalow was big and well appointed (had everything we could need) and unlike any other "cookie cutter" chain hotel, it kept it's old florida charm! Having both the beach and bay access was super convenient for my family to enjoy different activities like fishing, boating, swimming, and of course our kids' favorite of who can find the best shells and shark teeth :) . I'd say the best part is their amazing private beach! No hunting for a parking space, dragging all our gear and having to push through crowds to find a spot on the beach!! We were hesitant to vacation with COVID, but this place saved our family's summer trip. It was a relief to know we could relax and not have to stress over crowds or germy common interior areas, etc. All the staff are great and are very helpful and friendly. They do a good job of making sure the resort doesn't get overcrowded ( I'm glad they regulate the # of day guests). Oh and the beach pavilion is amazing!! We enjoyed the most peaceful, breathtaking views while relaxing under there, highly recommend!

Staff is exceptionally rude and my room was absolutely unacceptable. Mold, stains, dust, rundown appliances and human fluids - a total health hazard. When I brought these issues to the attention of management, instead of resolving the issue I was charged additional fees by the owner, Chris Charles. Every weekend since I stayed here he has tried to process payments on my card, and I have been forced to close my account because of it. The owner is a total scam artist. Save yourself the heartache and don't book a room here.
