Maria has been extraordinary in helping me in my journey to be as healthy as I can be!…read more I began working with Maria Faires, RD owner of Active Nutrition Fitness in December for mountaineering training to help me prepare for climbing Mt. Hood through the American Lung Association-Climb for Clean Air program. Maria is both a dietitian and personal trainer, so she has helped me identify lifestyle habits that needed some adjustments with both my nutrition and my fitness workouts. She designed an awesome program for me to keep my nutrition in check and monitor my body composition values. I've lost unneeded weight, body fat, and gained important lean muscle mass! And it has been easy. One of my goals was to lose a few pounds before my climb so she has helped me adjust my nutrition so that I can both lose the weight and train at a high level. She has provided me with sports nutrition guidance for my mountaineering and given me easy, healthy recipes, meal, and snack ideas. It's been easy to follow...and I am a single bachelor! She truly cares about me and my health and is always there to consult with me, give me kudos for accomplishments, and she keeps me accountable! Climbing Mt. I love how the work outs are small groups with really awesome coaches, every single coach has been so helpful with form, offering alternative movements if needed, giving helpful feedback while also encouraging you to lift heavier and push harder and I feel like every coach truly wants you to be the healthiest strongest person you can be! All the coaches and the owner Jake are so friendly and make the work out classes fun but challenging. They are all so knowledgeable about nutrition and fitness, they're all so amazing and so great at helping to keep you motivated! All the other members are so encouraging too, it really makes a difference when the other people doing the work out with you and pushing themselves just as hard if not harder and are super friendly while encouraging you to push yourself too. I've had such an awesome experience at this gym unlike any other gym I've attended. The community this gym has created is truly one of a kind! My only regret is not finding them sooner! I really love the structure of the work outs with the hour classes having portions for strength training and portions endurance training. I personally really enough being able to focus on trying to lift heavy and really work certain muscle groups and then finishing the work out off with another portion to really get your heart rate going. The nutrition plan I started with the 6 week program was really well thought out and all the food was tasty, nothing was bland or boring. Every meal I felt full and wasn't craving more food. I also made some new recipes that I really love and still make for myself from it! I highly recommend this gym, every work out and check in meeting with Jake throughout the 6 week program have all been so positive, encouraging, inspiring, motivating and honestly really fun!!

Although this type of bootcamp style workout (burpees, mountain climbers, flipping huge tires, etc) does not appeal to me, it motivated me to get back on track with exercise I do enjoy. Highly recommend lab Athletics for those looking for a grueling workout and fantastic, professional and motivating and experienced trainers.
