As a newly middle aged weekend warrior with a history of injury it was important to me that I partnered with trainers who would be very focused on form. I like to be pushed to continue meeting new goals, but I have no interest in bro-y, no pain no gain environments that lead to injury. Trailhead was everything I had been looking for and more. I got stronger than I'd ever been before and I was constantly encouraged to get out there and use the gains I'd earned in living a more adventurous and fulfilling life. The folks at Trailhead weren't only my trainers, they were my friends and they genuinely cared about my well-being and happiness. I've since left Bellingham and I miss my workout buddies. But I'm glad to know they're still there keeping the stoke alive and keeping people sweaty.

I just began taking yoga for the first time in 30 years, and they have made me feel really welcome…read more I attended the free Iyengar yoga class that is held between the sessions and was really impressed by the owner, Ingela, who explained all about yoga and made sure we were all doing the movements as they should be. I purchased an entire session of 12 classes ($140) and was happy to see they provide the mats, belts, blankets for their students. The level one yoga is not difficult, but made me feel amazing and stretched .

I've taken yoga before, and I know that the instructors come around and help you with your pose but when the women (the instructor and some other random older woman who was walking around) came to help they weren't very helpful, they would say really general instructions and then get annoyed when I didn't do exactly what they had in mind. I signed up to relax and get some exercise, not to be made uncomfortable and self conscious.

I love how the work outs are small groups with really awesome coaches, every single coach has been so helpful with form, offering alternative movements if needed, giving helpful feedback while also encouraging you to lift heavier and push harder and I feel like every coach truly wants you to be the healthiest strongest person you can be! All the coaches and the owner Jake are so friendly and make the work out classes fun but challenging. They are all so knowledgeable about nutrition and fitness, they're all so amazing and so great at helping to keep you motivated! All the other members are so encouraging too, it really makes a difference when the other people doing the work out with you and pushing themselves just as hard if not harder and are super friendly while encouraging you to push yourself too. I've had such an awesome experience at this gym unlike any other gym I've attended. The community this gym has created is truly one of a kind! My only regret is not finding them sooner! I really love the structure of the work outs with the hour classes having portions for strength training and portions endurance training. I personally really enough being able to focus on trying to lift heavy and really work certain muscle groups and then finishing the work out off with another portion to really get your heart rate going. The nutrition plan I started with the 6 week program was really well thought out and all the food was tasty, nothing was bland or boring. Every meal I felt full and wasn't craving more food. I also made some new recipes that I really love and still make for myself from it! I highly recommend this gym, every work out and check in meeting with Jake throughout the 6 week program have all been so positive, encouraging, inspiring, motivating and honestly really fun!!

My first Yelp event!…read more After getting lost, I found lab Athletics tucked away off Meridian near a warehouse. They wasted no time in putting us through a challenging workout! Unlike some other gyms, you can tell the trainers sincerely care about you as a person and helping you attain your fitness goals. They also have 6 week challenges, personal training and Jurassic Snacks onsite for some tasty post-workout treats. Although this type of bootcamp style workout (burpees, mountain climbers, flipping huge tires, etc) does not appeal to me, it motivated me to get back on track with exercise I do enjoy. Highly recommend lab Athletics for those looking for a grueling workout and fantastic, professional and motivating and experienced trainers.

(I no longer workout here but it was more for location reasons than anything about Barbell itself.)…read more I worked out here for several years and absolutely loved it. Jessica is a fantastic person and somebody who helped me out a great deal with my goals, without trying to hustle me into buying gimicky products or expensive sessions. I learned so much from her and her passion/energy is also represented in every square inch of the gym. Always renovating; bringing in new equipment, establishing relationships with clients, etc. It's amazing what her and her husband have accomplished with such little space to work with. It is a small gym but it's also one where it's never overcrowded and has just about anything you would need or ask for. So if you're in the mood for a great workout without the typical hassle of other gyms, this is the place to go. Highly recommend.
