We had a wonky start when first using our new dryer. There was burn off, that activated the smoke alarm and the breaker popped. I thought I'd installed it incorrectly. We called Island Electric the following morning and Jeff came over early afternoon (quick service for getting an electrician to your house). I think he spent 2 hours or more troubleshooting, opening up our electrical panel and various outlets around the house. He pretty much looked at the entire electrical system. With extensive expertise he patiently explained what happened and how our old house's panel is not up to today's power needs. BUT, that was it. For the first time since we moved in 8 yrs ago, our generator back up system failed during the last big wind storm that caused a large electrical outage. I called Island Electric & Sign and they came out the same day. Did some trouble shooting but couldn't find anything. Since the power came back on, there was no immediate hurry to find the problem. Today they came back out and after checking numerous things, it was determined that an unused switch was causing a dead short which prevented my generator from powering the house!!! All in all, a simple fix BUT could have taken a LONG time to find. Jeff did a great job, and billed his time very fairly. read more

I called Island Electric on the chance they could fix my lift chair that was stuck in the back position. We paid a lot for this chair and it quit after 2 years with no warnings. I called the manufacture and they said they no longer had the part I needed but was not sure if it was the power box. Jeff came out here on 12\27\20 to trouble shoot the problem and sure enough it was the power box. Not only that he found a replacement part on the internet, yippee. All order and soon we will have our chair in working order. Excellent service from my phone call to when Jeff left. I highly recommend them for any eletrical problems not just your home. These guys are absolute crooks! They may have cost us the sale of our home because they wanted to give some totally inflated trumped up bid to the buyers to do work that they say was required by code but not only wasn't required, it was absolutely unnecessary. If you decide to get a bid from them because they've answered the phone there might be a reason. If you do get a bid from them I highly recommend getting at least a second and maybe third opinion as well. I believe that they are either totally clueless regarding residential electrical or they are simply trying to take advantage of people. read more

I didn't expect to.get anyone when I called but am very fortunate that I did. the man said they were just leaving and could come and look at my job.to make an appraisal of it. I had taken a hanging lamp out and was putting in a fan with light and didn't like the looks of the wiring. Jeff said they had some meetings to go to but if they could would come back in the afternoon. 3 pm Jeff and mark showed up and went right to work. excellent job. very happy with how it was installed and looks outstanding. when they started loading up to leave it asked about the difficulty of putting a new plug in on a wall. they stopped and went into a back room to assess the issue. their day was over but took the time to answer a question for me. not only did they figure out a good answer they also gave me a great way to take care of a lighting problem that I had I didn't think could be taken care of.
