Love the ambiance, flavor, and service. This place is our new favorite place for Filipino cuisine. I just wished they were in the East Bay so we didn't have to drive do far. We came in for a late dinner with oyr family friends. We came in with no expectations only with the assumption that it's a place worth visiting considering that they don't accept reservations on a weekend :) . They have a wide variety of dishes: soup, grilled food, fried food, appetizer, meat or veggies, etc. We decided to order their squid ink fried rice, Garlic rice, binagoongan pork (pork in fish paste sauce), adobong pundit ( squid stew), sisig (minced pork in a sizzling plate), Squash veggie in coconut milk (loved it!) All the dishes were very tasty. I especially liked the Binagoongan Pork with the crispy pork seasoned with shrimp paste and topped with Mango and Tomatoes. I was also very impressed with the Coconut Squash Shrimp Veggie.
Our group made reservation for Saturday night. They split us up into 3 tables. We had 3 birthdays. Once seated, our waiter was quick with taking our order. We ordered Lechon kawali, Longganisa , Isla BBQ pork, Grilled Liempo, Sisig, Kare kare brisket, Pakbet , Sinigang liempo, and Adobo rice. Everything was good, on the salty side. It was my first time trying kare kare. It was good. Plenty of food. Love the free steamed rice. Our water cups were refilled many times. Will be back!
Food was great! We had some appetizers like fried tofu and calamari. Main dishes: sinigang, adobe rice, Lechon kawali, Laing. The halo-halo withube ice cream melted super fast at night! The tibuk tibuk was surprisingly warm as dessert and they gave us an extra one which was nice. Drink selection They didn't have any other drinks like calamansi juice unfortunately which I was disappointed they didn't have since other Isla locations usually have this besides water, soda as options. Service They kept trying to take away my plate when I wasn't done eating. Ambiance Popular place, plenty of seats/tables/space, finding parking is a bit tougher but not impossible for street and parking lots, look out for the signs and pay so you don't get ticketed.
This is my 2nd time trying Isla to give it another shot. The aroma of different foods was too much for me in the restaurant there was no ventilation I felt like I couldn't breathe and felt nauseous. Service was ok, could be better. When we were ready to order it looked like one person was only taking orders during dinner time. For family of 3 we ordered lumpia that was pricey $16 for appetizer, sizzling sisig bungus was $16. I wasn't impressed by the bungus it was not sizzling looks like they heated it up in a microwave and placed it on the plate. Bangus was greasy and not crispy. Another disappointment visiting this place I will definitely not be coming back.
I cannot understand why this place has only 3.5 stars. Maybe it's not authentic? It IS really good. The rice plates in particular are a great deal. I particularly like the sisig plate, which comes with a fried egg, garlic rice, soup, and a fountain drink. The sisig is very tasty: freshly fried and crispy, and bursting with flavor. Paired with some delicious garlic rice and egg? Out of this world. I've had most of the standard things here at Isla: lumpia Shanghai, Kare kare, kaldereta, and chicken adobo. Everything is a very good version. Also, there's free unlimited rice! In this era of having to pay for bread and butter, this is a welcome perk. The servers here are also super friendly and very attentive. I love this place.
Love Isla! We absolutely love their pork sisig, which is packed with flavor, and the unlimited rice servings are such a great bonus. The service was quick, and the servers were very attentive, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. The portions are generous, the dishes are fresh, and the overall vibe of the restaurant is casual and welcoming -- perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to and recommending to anyone craving Filipino food.
There was about 16 people in our party. We walked in and they had 2 tables for us immediately. AMAZING service by the staff. The food is incredible! I loved their lechon kawali kare-kare! Must try! Everything they served us was perfectly prepared. We also loved the Laing. At the end the gave us 6 complimentary deserts! So generous. We loved the halo-halo topped with Ube ice cream and their Leche Flan was also as amazing. There's parking on the side but be prepared to pay for street parking in case that is full. $3 for 2 hour parking.
Came to Isla to try their Filipino food. Heard good things about this place. Large open restaurant with large family style tables. Some with bench seating. Cheerful service staff and very helpful. I gave them 4 stars for one main reason, portion size for the money. While the food was very good, (4-1/2 starts?!) I do like when restaurants give you good value for my money. Their servings were on the smaller side especially for family style. Kare-Kare Brisket, luscious sauce and very tender brisket, wish there was more meat though ( for $31!!) , comes with string beans on top Sisig, Actually was a surprise as it was very tasty and well seasoned Bistik Bangus, a braised fish dish with creamy sauce and potatoes. Again bit fish would have been nice ( $21) Garlic rice, nice portion with fried or roasted garlic. not bad
Love going to this place.. this time I just got it door dashed to watch the Niners game It's expensive but it fed myself, mom, and dad and had two meals of leftovers. Total price is around $160 after getting it door dashed. I'd say food overall is a solid 8/10. I've been inside before it's a huge dining area with great service, and a fun loud environment. I really liked the short rib adobo never had that before. I always get the Lechon.. so good with the brown sauce and crispy. Mom loves the Shanghai lumpia. And you always gotta get garlic rice
I came here for dinner yesterday late afternoon. Me and my family had an amazing time enjoying over their tasty dishes. We ordered fried lumpia, pork sisig, pork sinigang, a bowl of garlic rice and a plate of longanisa and rice for my toddler son. I thoroughly enjoyed their pork sisig. This was sizzling perfectly. I can taste the fat and sizzled diced pork. Their sisig is by far the best I've had from any Filipino restaurant I've been to. They do it right here. The pork sinigang has the right amount of seasoning and salt balance. It was perfect with the equal portion of meat and veggies. Personally, sinigang is matched perfect with plain white rice because the garlic rice can clash with the flavors. We also enjoyed my son's longanisa. The fried crunch outer layer is really good and makes it unique. The longanisa is curled as well so this is unique compared to others. I think the prices are definitely affordable and reasonable for the portions. Their service is excellent and quick at what they do. They're friendly as well so this makes the experience better. This location is spacious with plenty of seating with a breathable environment. The bathrooms are clean too! This is a major plus if I should add that in.
I think about this restaurant whenever I start missing Filipino food. It is top-tier Filipino food, which says a lot as the competition is high in the Bay Area. even my homies who were born in the Philippines say that this restaurant is up to standard. I feel like a lot of Filipino restaurants in America are overtly salty, but the flavoring was all there and in all the right places. I am so glad that they have chicharron bulaklak here because that is my guilty pleasureeeee Attentive staff who was on top of it when it came to refills and re-ups with sauces, sides, and water. So respectful with their mannerisms and always with a smile on their face when they would do their table rounding. did not feel bad to make requests because it seemed like they took pleasure and pride in their jobs. I get shy to ask for more water, but I felt like I could easily do that here without hesitation. They also would take it upon themselves to capture photos for the people and their parties, which is soooo considerate of them. Got to love the big dining tables because yes...there would be some parties with that many table. goes to show how good the restaurant is. I like that it is set up in a big circle so that you could easily share the food and make conversation with the whole table. i like that they were playing Filipino music and playing Filipino television in the background...but imagine if they had like a karaoke happy hour omg...that would have made this the best restaurant in the bay area
A spacious, open restaurant that can accommodate large parties. The service was good. Extensive menu of varied proteins cooked in so many different ways. The food was very good, very tasty, and delicious! The portions were a bit smaller so one then ends up ordering more dishes. The Palabok was one of my fave dish there. A bit disappointed with the BBQ pork skewers as it was a bit dry and tough. The halo halo was one of the best ones I've had. Overall the food was good. And when you're satisfied with your meal, ring the bell on your way out!
We Ate at Isla for Father's Day celebration. It was very busy and overall the food was good. We do not eat Filipino food very often. The paying guests seemed a very big representation of Filipino culture. Food is on the pricey side. Service was fast, so fast that I thought some of the dishes were pre-made? Seems this establishment can accommodate very large parties. I did take pictures of the dishes, but since my grandson did the ordering, I cannot label what each dish was! I would probably give it a 3.5 star and maybe it's very authentic but since we don't usually eat Filipino food, I do not really have a good comparison. read more
If I could give this restaurant 5+ stars I would! Great authentic and comfort Filipino food, probably my favorite in the Bay Area. The family meal is a GREAT deal which gives you a great variety of dishes and unlimited rice! You must go here to eat family style, this is a great place for large gatherings or just a good bite with all your foodies! Food came really fast and despite the amount of people in the restaurant, I never felt rushed. If you're going for the first time, I highly recommend the Crispy Binagoonga Sa Gata (pork belly with spicy coconut sauce), Kare Kare Brisket, and Sisig Kapampangan. Rarely have a chance to experience Philippino food. This place did not disappoint. My partner made a safe choice and ordered a standard pan it with shrimp - which came with quail eggs, btw - and I chose to live a little and ordered the I'ma Lita's Tinta Rice. It is squid in black ink sauce, and had a tartness to it. Very good, no hesitation in enjoying the majority of the generous portion, which came with a generous side of rice. Came here for a big party birthday celebration, around 20 people on a Saturday at 12 pm. Restaurant was clean, roomy, and poppin with most tables filled with Titas and Titos. They have TV's on the ceiling, but didn't have anything on but advertisements. Service was a standout, with food coming fast after ordering along with the friendly server continually checking up on us. Everything was family style served in a metal pan. It's funny how for birthdays they place a birthday song on their speakers. Would definitely come back when craving Filipino food! Food was legit, coming from a third gen half-Filipino. All dishes that I tried had were freshly made and had awesome flavor. Noticed it was saltier than my moms home Filipino cooking, but that really is an given considering the restaurant needs to cater to the masses. Misua - 5/5 - simple, nourishing, and had just enough flavor. Appreciated that it was not salty, Chicken wings - 5/5 - no joke, these were so good. Crispy and juicy, up to par with Jollibee. Fried Prawns - 4/5 - clean prawns, not overly greasy, vinegar sauce with it hit. Palabok - 4/5 - generous portion with all the fixings. Textures were there and I found myself getting seconds, thirds. Shrimp Pinakbet - 5/5 - super fresh with a light coconut flavor. Green beans were perfect and shrimp was plump. Beeef Brisket Adobo - 4/5 - Generous portion with lots of sauce for everyone's rice. Served with potatos. Beef was flavorful and tender, served with pieces of fat. Pancit Bihun - 5/5 - loved how many vegetables were in this dish! Flavor was there and noodles were a good consistency. I was craving so kare kare and my friend recommended me to try this place out. When we got there it was pretty packed. They had two big groups of 7 plus. They have a pretty in depth menu. But they did have a couple of pages saving discontinued. I wanted Kare kare with ox tail but they only had brisket or Pata. We opted for the brisket. We also ordered a side of Pata and bbq chicken. They offer a bucket of rice. The kare kare came with brisket, eggplant and string beans. They also offer a side of shrimp paste. The shrimp paste is different from the Asian type. Which is a bit more peach colored. The Pata was really crispy, fatty and not oily. Which was amazing. The bbq chicken was so delicious. It had just the right amount of sweetness. The staff are super friendly and nice. They checked on us here and there to make sure everything was OK. Will definitely come back in the future to try other items from their menu. read more
This restaurant is located in the heart of Downtown San Bruno. They have a small parking lot behind the restaurant. There are also plenty of metered parking spots available around this restaurant. We came here with couple of my friends for lunch. We were seated right away upon entering the restaurant. They have an extensive menu. There are so many varieties to choose from. We were debating what we wanted to order. We decided do it family style and order different entrees to share. We had the lumpias and fried calamari as our appetizers. The lumpias were crunchy on the outside. The fried calamari was just ok. We definitely had better elsewhere. While we were almost done with our appetizers, we had to flag down our waiter to take our entree order. We ordered bunch of entrees like bangus sisig, lechon kawali, pinakbet, pancit, and brisket sinigang. The entrees came out in a timely manner. Majority of these entrees were too salty and greasy, causing dehydration and dry mouth throughout the rest of the day. Out of all the entrees, our favorites were the pinakbet and the bangus sisig. As a outsider/non-Filipino, Isla seems like a strong representation of Filipino culture. The restaraunt is designed for big gatherings of family and friends, but of course this doesn't mean you can't go in smaller group! The Sulit Bilao #1 comes with a plethora of items. Some of the favorites were Kyle's Chicken Wings, Prawn Crackers, Lanz's Lumpia Shanghai. The only minor misses were the Grilled Liempo (Pork Belly) and Squid which were both a little chewy. The Tinola Combination Soup and Pancit Bihun Guisado were flavorful and warming. Everything was definitely more than enough for a group of 3. Wish I was able to save room for dessert! read more
This is definitely at the top of our 'favorite Filipino food' places. We were driving by the neighborhood and just had to stop to eat here even though we weren't hungry - that's how much we like the food. It was around 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and the place was a little over 1/2 full. There's plenty of seating here so we were seated right away. They are quick to bus the tables once they're emptied so the place always looks clean. We weren't hungry but had to have a few of our favorites: lumpia shanghai; lechon kawali; and pork sinigang. If you dine in, they offer unlimited plain white rice. Everything was so yummy and we had plenty left for our baon. read more

We tried Isla's and really enjoyed the flavors! Dolly provided such friendly and attentive service, making us feel very welcome. The crispy pata was perfectly fried and crunchy, the kari-kari and chicken adobo were both rich and savory, and the tinolang tahong had a comforting, homestyle taste. The garlic rice tied everything together beautifully. The ambiance blends traditional Filipino charm with a modern touch, creating a cozy yet stylish dining atmosphere. The only downside was the portion sizes a bit on the small side for the price but overall, the food and experience were delicious. Would definitely come back again! read more

Love this Filipino spot! I'm definitely not a Filipino food expert, but I am a huge fan. The place has tons of seating, gives off a very friendly vibe, and has a strong family feel to it. The restaurants plays happy birthday on the speaker and helps takes photos. There's also a bell you can ring on your way out if you were satisfied with your meal! At 7pm on a Thursday, we (party of 2) had to wait 10-15min. Definitely a packed spot, even on weekdays. Parking is pretty doable, but be mindful that meter goes till 8pm. We ordered: -Lumpia Shanghai: smaller than other Lumpia Shanghai I've had but sooo crisp and filled with meat. About $15 for 20pc. -Prawn Sinigang: plenty of prawns (were a bit of a hassle to peel), and tons of veggies! I do wish the broth was just a tad more sour. -Pork Sisig: came out super hot and crispy. This dish was delicious but very oily. Definitely a treat item! -Garlic rice: $11 for huge cauldron of rice but this was so delicious. The best garlic rice I have ever had! Overall, paid around $80 for the two of us, and had some soup and rice to take home. read more

Isla is our go to spot for Filipino food in the Bay Area. The TNT shrimp is delicious, although not as good as the Newark location. We also got the all day happy hour drinks, which includes 3 beers and a free fried tofu appetizer. The service was spotty. This location has parking in the back and side of the restaurant which is why we came here. We ordered: set menu #2, lechón kawali and beef brisket Kare Kare. My favorite was the fried chicken and the lechón kawali. Yummy. To drink: we had beer San Miguel. The beer was light and good. For dessert: halo halo and leche flan. It was ok. The leche flan is too dense for my taste. I like my flan lighter, more Latin American style but it was ok. I would definitely come back especially when the service was very good. I wouldn't order one of the set menu but perhaps something that is not part of a set menu. But the best part is, you get to ring the bell if you were satisfied which we all were. read more
If you are in San Bruno and craving for some authentic Filipino food with large dinning area that can accommodate large group of people. Isla Restaurant is for you. I came in with my bf who is Filipino and he said the food is tasty and similar with what he grew up eating. When you finish eating, you can even ring a bell as you walking out the restaurant if you satisfy. I found it's so fun to do. Service was decent, they will come over one to fill your water and ask if you need anything Food price is a little bit pricey, but it comes with free and refillable white rice. read more
It has been awhile since I ate at this place and it justified why it's not my favorite pinoy restaurant "go to" place. The service is terrible in a not busy hour at 4:00pm on June 8, 2025. Three crews are cleaning up while we patiently waiting to get their attention. One guy keeps on complaining in tagalog while cleaning up. It is not a good atmosphere to eat. We ordered Chicken Inasal, Vegetable Kare kare, Sinigang Boneless Bangus,l, Calamari and Halo halo. The Kare kare veggies lacked vegetable and not appealing see picture insert. There are 2 pieces of bock choy. I complained and asked to add more bock choy. Calamari is okay but soft. Chicken is not good, hard and burned. It looks and taste awful. The Milkfish sinigang is too sour. The foods are all over priced for the service and quality. Servers are not paying attention and I constantly look and waive to get their attention so I can leave and pay. I only see servers when they brought the foods and when I complained about tge bock choy and when I pay. This place is not worth to try at all even the second time, it always the same low quality and over priced foods. However, I still gave them 16% tip. I will not return and not recommending this place. read more
This was my second time here with a big group and they did a great job again. Each time I've come, we've order the large platters to share and some extra entrees. This will leave you fill! They have a lot of menu items, you will find something you like. They have a bunch of party or spending deals so take a look at their menu. We also ordered the sisig which was really good with lemon. Very family friendly! I took my family of 7 there for dinner on a Saturday. I have an infant so I was worried the stroller would not fit. The restaurant was large enough with communal tables, our stroller fit very well within our table area. They were very accommodating and very attentive. When we were low on rice, the servers were quick to replace the pot! The food was delicious- we ordered the sulit a la carte and other dishes. They came out quick. I definitely recommend this spot and will be coming again. read more

Went here last night to celebrate my dads early birthday and also celebrate Mother's Day. The service here is quick and amazing and it feels so welcoming because it is Filipino owned. The food here is really good. We ordered Ponsit lumpia saying chop Suey and squid ambience feels like the Philippines. There's a lot of wooden chairs and almost feels like back home when you visit the Philippines the people here are really nice. It's very family oriented with service. Here is quick and amazing. Admittedly this was my first time ever having Filipino food outside of lumpia and Jollibees. But, it was a very interesting experience! Think Cracker Barrel but Filipino. The food was very good and authentic (according to our Filipino friend), but I have no benchmark to compare to. I personally really enjoyed salted fish with plenty of rice to offset the saltiness! I believe rice is endless here so don't be afraid to get more. This food is HEAVY - the pork cracklings, trotter, and fried bangus were are very oily, but super delicious with rice and plenty of coconut vinegar sauce. We polished off our meal with halo halo, of course. And it was delicious - a very interesting mix of textures from shaved ice, ube ice cream, corn?, flan, and other chewy things. It reminded me a lot of Vietnamese ché! The service was super friendly and the platter feed a party of 5 comfortably! I would recommend Isla to be your first adventure into Filipino food if you haven't tried it yet. read more

I would give this place a 3.5 overall. Me and my family were seated right away and the service was good. Apparently when you order food here you get unlimited rice which I thought was nice. It seems like this place can accommodate large parties as well cuz they have plenty of seating. Calamari (3/5) was all right. I've had other calamari with better seasoning and texture. For some reason this one felt more rubbery and just wasn't what I expected from a calamari. Pork BBQ (5/5) was really good! This is one of my favorites from this place. The pork is grilled nicely and the sauce is perfect! Crispy pata (5/5) tasted great as expected. I feel like this difficult to get crispy pata wrong, and this place came through! Halo-halo (1/5) was what brought down my overall review. Apparently they were out of ube ice cream and instead of letting us know, they just served it without it. So we asked them and that's how we found out they ran out. Running out of ingredients is understandable, but you should communicate that with the customer. I wouldn't have ordered this if I knew there was no ube ice cream and I felt cheated for not being told ahead of time tbh. Not only that I barely got any coconut pieces, barely any jellies, no pinipig, no corn. The only thing that made this halo-halo were the beans, milk, and mango ice cream. Nevertheless I still think this place has some solid food options with the BBQ and the crispy pata. Just stand your ground if they serve you a dish with incomplete ingredients. read more

This is a great hole in the wall Philippino spot in San Bruno. The service was quick and the food delicious. I went with some friends who grew up in the Philippines who said the dishes felt very authentic to the region. It's hard to choose but my favorite pieces were the Crispy Pata or the Lumpia! read more

It's been awhile since I had sisig and Isla's sisig did not disappoint. It had just the right kick and was so good with the steam rice. The adobo pusit is also good. Pancit I think could have a little bit more flavor. The service is very attentive, no complains. The waiters are very pleasant. On your way out, there is a bell you can ring if you were satisfied. read more

A group of us came here for the first time to enjoy some Filipino food since most of us were Filipino. We got here around 11:45 am on a Saturday, and it was literally empty. We perused their very extensive menu and decided on the Sulit Bilao #2, lumpia shanghai, and another dish. We got about nine dishes that were more than enough for the six of us. Overall, the food was delicious, although there were a couple of dishes that were a bit salty for my taste. Since we arrived early, we were comped leche flan. It was very thick and not too sweet. My preference would have been a bit lighter, but this is my opinion. As we were leaving, the place had filled up; and the noise level, of course, increased. The service was very good. I wouldn't mind coming back when I'm in the area. read more
My fiancé and I ordered takeout yesterday and the food was great! I was skeptical at first because of the ratings but one of my friends recommended it. We ordered sisig, pancit bihon, garlic rice, and a chicken dish (he ate it before I saw what he got). The portions were good and the food tasted like home. I liked the vinegar on the sisig and adding the lemon was perfect. You can also taste the garlic in the rice which not every place does. The pancit was also the best I've had in a while. The halo-halo was pretty good but I didn't like all of the toppings. There was too much corn and beans for my liking. All the sisig and garlic rice needed was a fried egg! I definitely got my Filipino food fix and will order from here again. read more

Came on a Wednesday night and thank goodness that this place is big because we had a party of 6 and the place was packed. We came to celebrate our friends birthday and didn't realize but they have special birthday specials on top of daily specials. The server that we got was super friendly and accommodating. The menu is extensive and some items aren't available but all the selections were still really good. And our server didn't miss a beat with the unlimited rice and water refills. We ordered soooo much food that we were able to get the calamari for free. And everything came out swiftly and delicious. Everything was well seasoned and portions are perfect for family style sharing. This is our go-to spot when we need to get our Flipino Food. Pictures are with a thousand words so took a picture of everything we ordered. And we were able to get free ice cream at the end of the meal. read more

Yes, they are set up for outdoor dining. The tables are spaced out for social distancing and are set up for groups of 2 or 4.
