I was sent into a frenzy when my best friend announced her wedding at such a short notice. I wanted to look my best during her special day, but alas, I had nothing nice to wear. I was operating on a really small budget, and though my friends suggested that I look for quality suits and jackets at my favorite Ukay stores, I knew I just had to try and at least find a place that sells great suits at a lower price. I checked the malls and everything was well over my price range, and I was ready to go thrift shopping for suits in Cubao when I noticed Isetann's window display. it was a bit sad and dreary, which is consistent with the depressing state of this old department store that my Mom used to go to a lot when she worked in Manila as a college fresh grad.
I wasn't really expecting to find anything, but I decided to check out their menswear section anyway. To my surprsie, and by a stroke of luck, they were actually having a clearance sale of old stocks of suits. The suits were perfectly okay, and they sold it with a 75% discount becuse of the sole reason that they have been sitting on their display shelves for ages. I checked the stocks and they were in pristine condition. I bought a Chancellor suit for only P1200. I had to take it to my tailor to be altered for another P600 pesos, and it fit me like a glove. The moral of the story: Don't judge a department store by its display window. Sure, Isetann may have lost its former glory and it might look like nobody even goes in there anymore, but hey, you might find just what you are looking. read more
