Cuong is the best, seriously: very reasonable pricing, extremely hard-working, honest, dependable, fair - I didn't realize contractors like this exist. I almost made a huge mistake and passed on Cuong originally because it didn't seem like he could deliver on what he quoted (he was so much more reasonable than other contractors), and he is very unassuming: quiet, no pressure, fast and easy - - so I thought there must be something off. Man, am I glad that about a year later when we circled back on our ADU remodel, Cuong was still willing to work with us (even when other contractors we originally consulted with bailed, or didn't even have the courtesy to respond). Again, he was so nonchalant about his ability to do the work that I had my doubts, but he immediately proved us wrong - to say the least. Cuong got to work right away. In the space of just a couple months he transformed our ADU from a dated and ugly, unusable space, into an amazing little home, which we furnished and rent now. I was (and am) incredibly impressed by Cuong. He is not someone you need to press to do the right thing. He is independently motivated to do the job the right way, and to work efficiently. He would ask to work weekends just to stay on schedule; he would pick up materials for us; and he was flexible and available when we needed him. *Note that the only thing he doesn't really do is design. He will consult on small things, like where to put outlets, or how a door should open, but I would not expect him to design and build. Provided you have your design and vision though, the man can execute. It is a pleasure to write this review and to share our experience, and I think our results speak for themselves (which I've posted before and after photos of). I wish Cuong and NCC all the best; although I'm sure we'll be seeing them soon on some of our many projects :)

One of his subcontractors at the time was, unfortunately, not very good, and made several large mistakes while working on my bathroom. Most of it was able to be addressed in the moment, but there were a couple of lingering issues that weren't visible until two years later. However, Tri was very responsive when it came to revisiting the bad work done. He has since let that subcontractor go, and he's doing everything he can to make things right. I went with a plumber to fix the worst of the problems, which Tri is reimbursing (and thankfully didn't cost too much anyway), and he will be doing the remainder of the work necessary to make things whole again. It's unfortunate that there were problems caused by one bad subcontractor (and that this subcontractor hadn't been properly vetted), but I'm satisfied with the resolution to these issues.

My original review is below: We hired Unique Northwest Building for carpentry and drywall work to upgrade the interior design of our home. We installed some wooden slats and installed a new door. It's very rare to find contractors who go above and beyond and Daniel from Unique Northwest was one. We are extremely pleased with Daniel's work (refer to photos). While the photos speak for themselves, for those interested in learning more about our experience, read further. From the get-go, we were very pleased with Daniel's responsiveness. Due to Covid and some logistical issues on our end, our request was conducted via phones and photos. Daniel was prompt, communicative and addressed our concerns. We were concerned about project scope as we couldn't conduct an in home visit (again, due to an issue on our side), however, Daniel had scoped it correctly and there were no last minute bait and switches in pricing, which we appreciate a lot. During the job, Daniel went to great pains to understand the details of our requirements and did a walk through the house to made sure he had got it all right. On the job, he was quick on his feet, yet thorough and precise in his woodwork. When necessary, he went by himself to procure the wood and other materials we needed and ensured he had it all right. If there were any issues he found while doing the woodwork, he would let us know immediately to confirm his proposal, and we mostly deferred to his expertise - which he had in plenty. In three days, he transformed our house from a mediocre place to a gorgeous layout. We had some other minor issues that needed fixing in the house (fixing some plumbing), which Daniel took care quickly as well. He had to come for an extra half day to finish some paint work as it needed time to dry, which he did meticulously again. We are extremely pleased with our result, and all of our friends have loved the new design. I had a specific budget and design (marble white themed) in mind and Daniel was able to meet all these and exceeded our expectations. After vetting a few contractors I decided to work with Anthony in 2019. His crew was fast and did great work. 1100 square foot addition with most of it being a mother-in-law unit. Fast Forward to November 2024. My house was hit hard by the Bomb Cyclone. Dealing with the insurance was a headache I was not familiar with. Anthony really helped me out keeping the repairs under the budgeted amount from my insurance company. I trust Anthony and him being honest and up front with repair costs. Overall we were extremely impressed by Maltom, and would happily recommend them, and are likely to work with them again ourselves! Maltom was quick to bid and within the ballpark of other estimates - but Tom set himself apart from the others by actively noting where he anticipated complexity that others' didn't (ceiling height, stair header, sewer line, etc) and flagging potential risks and solutions. This was indicative of Maltom's ability to build trust through transparency throughout our experience. The project itself was right on time despite juggling multiple permits, contractors, and a few unexpected turns. And throughout we always had a good sense of how it was progressing via Margo's weekly updates which kept us in the loop on progress and the plans for the week ahead. It was also on budget - any overages were attributable to our choices of higher quality fixtures/finishes and some minor work orders. The few minor changes stemming from unscoped work were easy to coordinate and reasonably priced. Tom was attentive to the details and quick to address any minor issues we identified along the way - but more often than not caught them before we could, pointing them out via regular walk throughs. I couldn't be happier with the work Maltom did for us. Evaluation: during our evaluation, Tom came home to walk through the project in detail with us, and midway he stopped being a contractor but a partner to us in guiding us on what's needed for the project. We truly appreciated many of his recommendations based on his wide experience. Price: cost wise, we found their quote quite reasonable, but most importantly, they stand by their quality of work. The estimate is precise, and change orders are ONLY if we requested something new that wasn't discussed earlier. We were happy we landed on budget precisely to what the original quote was and agreed upon changes and NOT a dollar more. Quality: we had worked with multiple contractors in the past, and sadly (and maybe us) it has always been difficult to work with general contractors, as quality is usually a toss of coins as part of the work is subcontracted out and doesn't always end up fine. But with Maltom, Tom personally is engaged at all stages of projects and ensures any work by a subcontractor is as good as he would have done it himself. Side note: They also take pride in keeping the workplace super clean and neat, and if you drop by mid-project to check in, you won't see any debris/ tools lying out of place. Time: as they say, when you work with a contractor, take the estimated completion time the contractor gives you and double it to usually get the real-time it takes to complete, but with Tom, he already gave us a pretty fast, aggressive completion plan, and despite some minor hiccups with local permits, to our surprise, he actually finished ahead of plan. Lastly, they say when you work with a contractor. Usually, you are lucky if you get at least 2 of 3 things you need on a project if they finish i) on Budget, ii) on time iii) on quality.
