A coworker and I came here for lunch and were sat at a booth towards the back of the restaurant. The ambiance was fine, casual, we were pretty much left to ourselves. Service was minimal. Our waitress said "I'll be right back" a few minutes after we were sat then returned a few min after that with some pickle mix for us and to take our food and drink order. Besides bringing our drinks and our food, we didn't see our server- which was fine for us, but if you're looking for attentiveness, this is not the best place. Took our family for lunch on a Monday and it was very good! The adults got soup and sandwiches and the children got kids meals. Everything was very reasonably priced and the food was very good. Especially the tomato and pepper. Jack cheese soup. Highly recommend. We all enjoyed our sandwiches and our waitress Tracy was super nice and very attentive. My mom and I decided to stop at Isaac's on our way to Turkey Hill after we saw the sign on the highway. Normally, those signs do not provide an ideal dining experience but Isaac's was quite the exception. It was a weekday so the crowd was thin already, but I felt comfortable being far more than 6 feet from the next table closest to us. Our server was super sweet and friendly, and all protocols were being followed-including paper menus-which was reassuring. Upon introduction, our server brought some pickled veggies to munch on as we reviewed the menu. My mom ordered the Cormorant (house-made cranberry-almond chicken salad provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, cheddar wrap). Our server said it is her mom's favorite. My mom thought it was "just ok". I ordered my son the Kid's version of a classic Isaac's sandwich (Rainbow Bread with turkey, provolone cheese, bacon, tomato and lettuce) and I chose raw carrots as his side. It was super cute they used rainbow bread, although my son only ate the turkey and cheese. I ordered the BYO sandwich with roast beef, pepper jack, Ikey's sauce (horseradish like)-quite the delicious combo. The bread was crusty and soft, the roast beef was not dry and flavorful, and I always love a good horseradish sauce. This was our first time here. Came over for lunch after surrendering my turtles next door at "That Pet Place". We were starving and i didnt feel like driving elsewhere and this was next door. The BF had the Cormorant wrap and i had the Isaac's Famous Pepperjack Tomato Soup and the Turkey Reuben. The Turkey Reuben is served with swiss cheese and sauerkraut and a touch of thousand island dressing, then grilled on rye with chips on the side The Cormorant has cranberry-almond chicken salad, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes in a cheddar wrap. The Pepperjack tomato soup is to die for. Its creamy and made just right. It went well with my sandwich. For dessert, I was recommended a chocolate brownie. It was just a regular David's brownie. Rip off pricing! The combo (1/2 sandwich and cup of soup or two 1/2 sandwiches) provides no discount whatsoever for the sandwich and just a few cents off on the soup It actually costs more to order a 1/2 sandwich than half the price of a full sandwich. The combo price is made up by selecting a 1/2 sandwich (more expensive than what half of the full sandwich price) then selecting either a cup of soup (a few cents cheaper than the full price) or another 1/2 sandwich Overall the prices are high. $7.49 for a lettuce wedge salad, $4.99 for a mixed greens side salad, $8.59 for a turkey club etc. I don't like being ripped off and don't like prices higher than they should be so wont be back here and i suggest the bagel deli cafe next door which is great and has New York City style bagels, lox, deli sandwiches. etc. But closes at 4 p.m. The lentil soup was adverised as spicy lentil soup but has no bite whatsoever. Be sure to check it out if you want a good laugh! A misnomer for sure... a name change to domething like "The Hummingbird" would be much more accurate. Very disappointed in the "new" French bread they are using. It's basically a pre-packaged roll and not French bread. If you are going to get rid of French bread for your sandwiches, then you need to at least update the photos on the menu to reflect this pale white bread-like object instead of the French bread pictured. Been coming to issacs for many years, and this by far is the dumbest change to suppliers I have seen. 2 other patrons around our table were also heard complaining to the waitress about it. I was really hungry in Lancaster and I had no idea where to eat. I saw that Isaac's Restaurant was nearby, so I decided to go. I ordered half of the Gooney Bird, which was a sandwich which came with really good turkey, sprouts, mushrooms, cucumbers, and melted muenster Cheese, along with chips. The half of the sandwich also came with Pepperjack Tomato Soup and it was so good. I also ordered the Speckled Lemonade, which was a delicious and amazing sugar rush. I used to work for this place many years ago and est the food there almost daily, loved it. Continued to be a fan for many years but then it seemed lacking. Issac's was almost always the favourite spot to have lunch with my son. But over the last year or so we went other places. So this past weekend my son suggested we lunch there. On my end of the phone I rolled my eyes & said sure. I was pleasantly surprised! Loved the new appetizer selections! My son ALWAYS get the pepper Jack soup & this time so did I. Just as wonderful as I remembered! We chose three well portioned appetizers to share. Leftovers went home. Also loving the fact that there a now fried on the menu. Way to up your game, Issac's! Good food, a mess of service. Maria was our server, while she tried to be nice with a smile on her face, it didn't work in her favor. She was very pushy, made decisions as to what our kids were going to eat, moved things around on our table bc they were out of order for her to do her job apparently. Examples: I moved the salt and pepper shaker holder from the center of the table so I could see my child when I spoke to him. I moved it to my area which had room and was not in her way nor a danger to anything or anyone. She moved it back to the center! When she approached us to get our order she demanded the kids orders. We were 2 separate families, she asked what the kids were having and as we were informing her, she told us "ok, and apple sauce for the kids." Neither of us mentioned apple sauce, and 2 out of 3 kids waisted the shit bc they didn't want it. We wanted fruit but hey, Maria knows better then us. My son's nuggets were refrigerator cold, when I found her to report this, she tells me to go sit down and she will bring it, I said no ill wait. Come to hear her talking to a Co worker how "I put them in as soon as I took them from the bag, there's no way they are cold." YEP, OK, SHE KNOWS BETTER THE US,ONCE AGAIN! After we were done eating, and after we paid her, we asked for a box. She never came back, I had to go to the front where I'm assuming I met a manager, but he made it so his tag was not visible and who was not too professional. He spoke to the employees like they were annoying him. (I could see why after dealing with Maria, however you still need to collect yourself dude) I got my box and we went out as fast as we could. Dealing with a pushy server is never good... not for the service and not for the business. We tipped her nice, bc our food was well over $100, and fair is fair, however, Maria, if you're reading this.... you need to work on allowing the customers to speak and make their own decisions... we are adults well into our 30s not some teeny boppers. Different week....different city. This week, Lancaster, PA. Worked late and was tired from flying out of Grand Rapids early in the morning so I wanted something quick and easy. The woman at the desk of the hotel suggested the sandwich shop next door.. Said it was good and I could walk there. I was basically sold, but did my usual "Yelp Check" and the reviews were mostly good...so Isaac's it was. They had 4 soups and a gazillion Sandwich Choices. I was overwhelmed by all the sandwich choices as I was tired so I elected for the "Build Your Own Sandwich" and ordered sandwich of Grilled Chicken Brest, Bacon, Provolone Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato on French Bread with Pesto as the dressing. I was going for a "Pesto Club Sandwich" thing. It was great. Got the combo which included chips and a drink and a small dill pickle. I also ordered a small side of Tortellini pasta salad. The pasta salad was pretty good, but to be honest the sandwich was the star. This place will be a regular stop for me over the next few months since I will be working here off and on until December. Couple hints....go on their web site and sign up for their frequent diner program. Other hint is that if you are staying at the Hampton Inn next door and show your room key you get 15% off you bill. I've been going to this particular Isaac's since I was 5. Even now, when I don't live in Lancaster anymore, whenever my sister and I are in town together, we go here. The servers are always friendly, and I've heard they treat their employees really well. The sandwiches are tasty, their menu has changed when appropriate over time, yet I still get the same good vibe from the place as I did when I was 5. I love the artwork, the bird theme, and the overall attitude- it's a fun place, and the food is good (and reasonably priced). It also has such a variety of sandwiches, you can take people with a wide variety of tastes there. Plus there's lots of seating and take-out. read more

They have the best grilled sandwiches I've ever had. I used to live in Lancaster, PA and would go there whenever I could. Now, I visit them when I'm in town on business. I had dinner there last night with my two daughters. I was extremely disturbed to see a sever had a meal for herself left on the table next to ours. While she was waiting on other tables she would go to her food- take a bite, swipe her chips in some kind of dip and shove them in her mouth. Never once did she wash her hands. Our server never once came to check on us. When we were done eating I had to flag him down to bring the check. Also- and I know this is my fault- I left my sunglasses there on the table and when I called an hour later for them they said they were never there. Again- my fault for leaving them, but it was just the final nail in the coffin on this restaurant. It's strange, as a kid I loved coming to this exact location. I would always get the same thing, turkey breast on rye with potato chips and pink lemonade. But as an adult coming here, it's not quite the same. The decor is admittedly dated, being from the early 90s. The staff is still certainly friendly. But it just simply doesn't taste all that great. It could be nostalgia that all along influenced my childhood love of Isaac's both as a brand and more particularly for this location. But as an adult, it just doesn't appeal to me. All the same, your mileage may certainly vary. It's a great, relatively inexpensive place to take your family for lunch or dinner. I've been to many Isaac's locations throughout Lancaster but this was the most recent location I had lunch at about a week ago. The pretzel bread sandwiches are always tasty and leave me satisfied, but as one reviewer recently posted, they do seem to be skimping on the potato chips and they should load up your plate when paying almost $10 for a turkey blt sandwich. I've usually had good service in the various locations I've been to, but our waitress today was quite inattentive and despite mentioning needing to leave soon and pay for our meals, took almost 10 minutes between the time we received our check and the waitress came back to take our payment. I thought she'd maybe gone on break and was about to go find someone else to pay for our meals when she finally reappeared. I'll definitely be back, but would be a more regular visitor if the pricing was a little more reasonable, or the portions a little more generous. read more

As you can see, I live in LA, but I'm from Mountville and I used to work at this location. I miss Isaac's sooo much. I LIVE IN LA AND I MISS A RESTAURANT IN LANCASTER. They have the best sandwiches I've ever had, the Fudgie Wudgie is my favorite dessert ever, and the wait staff is always delightful. My friend and I decided to give Isaacs another try, as our previous visits were not pleasant. Well, it looks like we won't be going there anymore. Had been going there a few times a month for over ten years, but sadly, service did not keep up with the great food. So, on Monday, the 11th we entered with high hopes. A waitress came by and said she would be back in a minute or two to take our order. 10 minutes later, she had not returned. The hostess was setting up a table next to us and I mentioned the waitress disappeared. I watched her go to the waitress and even point to our table. The hostess came back and said the waitress would be back on a minute or two. I told the hostess the waitress said that to us 10 minutes ago. The hostess left and a moment later another waitress (Leah) came to our rescue. She was FANTASTIC and a credit to the company! Soup and drinks delivered quickly; she checked back to make sure the soup was good...Turkey Stuffing Soup was delicious! Sandwiches came right after we finished the soup. The little complimentary bowl of pickles hits the table with the menus and we each scramble for our favorites! Great selection of sandwiches with something for every member of the family. I had the mallard. Was tasty. He had the twisted chicken. His chicken was precooked and not heated all the way thru. There were maybe 3 other tables sat. Our waitress was cheerful but didn't offer a refill on our drinks at all. When asked if the chicken was precooked, her answer was a cheery yes so we didn't have to worry about anything.
