    You had me at Halo.

You can re-tile the floors, dress the staff in spiffy neon-green polos, and tweak your name, and still... You will always be Golden Farm to me. In its original Golden Farm incarnation, I, like apparently some of my fellow reviewers (see Yelp listing), had a love-hate relationship with this market: I loved it 'cause it reminded of a time I was more starry-eyed about living in NYC. Back in the day, hubby used to work nights, so I'd often call him at midnight, asking him to pick up milk for the morning from Golden Farm, which was open 24/7. Cause I was living in the 'City that Never Sleeps,' and I could. The Eastern European girl in me loved that it provided a local resource for Blintzes, Pierogies, Pelmeni and such. The cook with a fondness for obscure ingredients in me loved that I could often find things like Tamarind Paste or Curry Gewurz Ketchup. I hated it 'cause I didn't like thinking about the implications of the infamous and endless boycott against the store for unfair labor practices. I hated it 'cause the produce, while admittedly cheap ass, almost unfailingly rotted within a day. Flash forward to this new Isaac's. I believe it's still open 24/7. Prices have creeped up, but if that means the staff is getting paid more fairly, I can deal. Though what's up with devoting such a significant part of the freezer section to ice cream, and mostly faux ice cream, aka Halo, at that? And why is it that I can no longer find Tamarind Paste or Curry Gewurz Ketchup? The inventory doesn't seem quite as quirky and ethnic as it once was. But hey, some scallions and cilantro I bought one evening were gross by the next morning. I guess that ultimately, it's true what they say: The more things change, the more they stay the same.:) ps Am bumping up my rating to 4 for sentimental reasons, though overall, I prefer shopping at nearby Carnival instead.

Ok, so there's only so much you can say about about a fruit and vegetables stand, with that said, here we go.... Isaac's Apple Farm is open 24 hours. Isaac's has a great selection of produce, meats, dry goods, deli meats, coffees, teas, etc.. Very limited organic section, but not a big deal, I don't buy everything organic anyway! Reasonable prices! Staff friendly and helpful. I've shopped at Isaac's a few times, so this review is based on only those few trips .

We've been going there for 3 years now and have seen Golden Farm turn into Isaac's Apple Farm. They've changed the inside and added new wooden crates on the outside, a little flower corner, making everything a little niftier. I still think we need to face the fact that the items sold are at the verge of ending their shelf life. Some of the prices are slightly outrageous such as the $2.9 per lb zucchinis that are twice the price as the supermarket around the corner. I continue to go there because it is open 24/7, there are some super fresh and good deals and the ladies at the cashier are lovely and efficient.

Affordable, fresh produce. Everyone who works here is very friendly. A fair selection of dry goods.

I haven't been here since it was Golden Farm, but the produce is still gorgeous and reasonably priced.

It used to be a gas station, and still has some of the hardware. I haven't used their rewards system since the first rewards FOB dried up and broke off my keychain 8 or 9 years ago. I am not sure what the deals are that you get with the scanning of the rewards card, but I know you sign up online before going there. it's kinda outdated. I should get a new one. This is a great 24 hour produce store. Circus Fruits is nearby, but generally these types of all night local grocers are rare finds.

They have a weekly circular and it does not state any limits on produce. When you get to the actual store front, there is a limitation. There was an avocado limit at one point. If you didn't purchase a certain amount, you could not buy the avocados at the sale price. But it's not written in every language and even the English was not understandable. This week is 3 for $2.00 oranges. But your only allowed 3. Doesn't mention it anywhere so if you even had an extra bag of oranges, they will take it back. I work in a school, and have done bulk orders for festive events. They gave us less than the amount ordered but were able to fix it. That situation was stressful only because it involved kids. And since it was a mistake of the store, they needed to cater to our timing for the event which they almost weren't able to. They did fix the problem but with much hassle. Overall, the store is decent. Workers are alright. Certain things could be better.

I am sharing my experience regarding a watermelon load delivered to Jacob's Village Farm Corp,…read moreBrooklyn Cruise Terminal Pier 12, 75 Bowne Street - Dock 36, Brooklyn, NY 11231. After delivery, the receiver claimed under protest that the watermelons were "overripe" and that the bins were "half empty." Based on my records, photos, and videos, I strongly dispute these allegations. Before leaving the farm, I took photos and videos clearly showing the condition of the product and the fullness of the bins. Upon arrival and after the complaint was made, I immediately documented the load again by taking additional photos and videos. I personally opened and lifted the bins to inspect them, and they were full and intact. I also asked the receiver if they wanted to reject or return the load if there was truly an issue with the freight. The receiver refused to return the shipment and accepted the load. In my opinion, there was nothing wrong with the freight at the time of delivery. During the situation, the receiver became very upset, and I became concerned about the handling of the paperwork, including the POD. For this reason, I preserved all photos, videos, and documentation related to this shipment. As a professional carrier, I believe freight claims should be handled fairly and based on facts and evidence. I am requesting full payment according to the agreed rate confirmation and a fair review of this situation. To all carriers: please be very careful. Take photos and videos before unloading and stay at the back of your truck while the freight is being unloaded. Document everything to protect yourself. Learn from my experience and be cautious.
