This store quite literally attempted to scam me…read more On June 5, 2026, I called for a quote to repair a flat tire on my bike. I was quoted approximately $32 for the tube and labor. I brought my bike in, and after the repair was completed, an employee wheeled it out front. I personally saw that the flat tire had been fixed. Because I live nearby, I told the employees I would drive my car home and walk back to pick up the bike and ride it home. Shortly after leaving, I received a text message from the store stating that the tire supposedly was not holding the new tube well and that they recommended replacing the tire for an additional $35. They asked for approval before proceeding. I responded, "I'll be there soon," specifically because I wanted to discuss the issue in person before authorizing any additional work. When I returned, I discovered that the tire had already been replaced and I was being charged for the additional work. The employee claimed that my message, "I'll be there soon," was interpreted as approval to install the new tire. At no point did I authorize the additional repair. What makes this even more concerning is that my original tire was apparently fine when I saw the completed repair, yet by the time I returned to the store it had somehow become unusable and needed replacement. I was never given a clear explanation for how that happened. To make matters worse, when I questioned the unauthorized charge, a taller male employee responded in a dismissive and condescending manner, repeatedly saying things like, "It's only $35," instead of addressing the fact that the work had been performed without my approval. The store eventually provided only a partial refund for the unauthorized charges. Performing additional work without clear customer authorization and then minimizing the customer's concerns is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I will not be returning.

It's clear that they care not just about making a sale, but about building relationships and making sure customers leave satisfied. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and professional, and the staff went above and beyond to provide top-notch service. I recently took the Park Tool class with Cory, and now I have a better understanding of what a bike mechanic legend is. His extensive bicycle knowledge was very apparent as soon as I saw him tinkering with bikes or my bike for that matter. I am extremely grateful that I didn't procrastinate or pass on taking the course. It was a fantastic experience and I was able to swap and upgrade parts on my bike "myself"--with Cory's support. It was a $10 item and he was willing to give it away. It might have been on the shelf for a long time but he was willing to give it to me. He's a local guy and treated me like a neighbor. I will never do business with any other bike shop. His young mechanic was a great kid too. Please do business with this local HB proprietor. He's the real deal.
