Dishonest, states he takes Medicare and all insurances and then he charges $100 per treatment or a package deal. Doesn't take insurances.
I spoke to Joseph over the phone who said he does take Medicare and Anthem Blue Cross. I send photos of my insurance cards as requested that day and scheduled me for that same week.
I arrived to my appointment greeted by a man in a white coat. He never introduce himself as the doctor. I had to ask him for his name. He said, my name is Joseph. We seat in his office for me to fill out a medical form. I asked if everything was good with my insurance and he said Oh! Yes, Yes medicare does pay for acupuncture but you have a deductible of $100. I already knew Medicare pays for 24 acupuncture treatments per year and I had told him that over the phone. I didn't know about the deductible, Medicare didn't mention it.
Why? I would not recommend this acupuncturist: He insisted to treat me for back pain and not for sleeping and HTN like I had requested but said next time. It was the most painful acupuncture treatment I ever had. He tapped the needles very hard and they felt like a nail going in. On three of the needles, I told him it was too painful, he insisted the pain will go away but the pain worsen like a nerve pain, I had to ask to please, removed it and inserted again. I hurt for three days. He is not honest and straight forward about not taking Medicare. After my treatment he brought me back to his desk and asked me to pay the $100 deductible which I did then he pulled out a sheet to offer me to buy a package deal of 10 treatments for $800. I asked, are you not going to submit my deductible to Medicare and Anthem then bill them for my treatments? He said they don't pay enough and went on saying he has the package deal.
He had already scheduled my next appointment so I said, I'll have you submit my deductible to Medicare and we can talk on Thursday.
I called him a few days later and he said for me to submit the deductible. I cancelled the appointment. I hurt to much, it looked like he doesn't have experience, I didn't trust him since the beginning and not now. He is not honest. He is by himself in the office and I don't know if he has a license to practice.
I had many acupuncture treatments in the last 30 yrs. All excellent experiences. I had 36 acupuncture treatment last year at Agape Natural Health in Irvine/Newport by Dr. Huang and his team who are all are excellent. The Best! and much much less than $100. Look them up on line.
