I'm not sure why irvine only has one dog park. The dog park is okay, and you can't really complain since there's no other one around outside of smaller neighborhood dog parks that are gated and keyed. There's fresh water here and portable toilets for humans. There's the same group of people who go and hang out everyday while their dogs are just playing. I would say the worst thing about this park are the owners who don't watch their dogs or clean up after them. This dog park is also right next to Irvine animal control if you want to go pick up another furry friend. Parking can be limited during busy times. read more

Love Central Bark! I used to take my babies here and now take my fur nephew. I feel it's one of the best dog parks in the area. It has a really big section for bigger dogs and another for smaller ones. Most pet parents are very friendly and responsible. It's clean and has a designated parking lot. My dog and I go to this park on a weekly basis. He enjoys it and has become a bit more comfortable and out of his shell. The park could use a bit more seating. BEWARE! My wife and I stopped here on our way to S.D. Two aggressive dogs entered the park. You could hear her in the parking lot trying to control her dogs, and as soon as they entered, one of them went after another right at the gate. The owner did nothing to control her dogs. The owner of the dog being attacked yelled control your dog and she did nothing. I would be mad too; however, things escalated really quickly. The owner of the dog being attacked may have gone a little too far, but again, I would have been mad too if the owner was just doing nothing! Other people got involved for no reason at all. One lady got in the owner's face of the dog being attacked and was yelling, you wanna hit me, go ahead, hit me. It was absolutely nuts. As we were leaving, someone else mentioned that this park had been called in by the police a few times. Proceed with caution! read more

This is a great park for dogs! Very friendly people and most of the dogs are very playful. There are some spots where the grass does grow, so you might want to wash your pup's paws when you get home, but that's probably normal for any dog after a walk. Getting in the parking lot can be a challenge as it shares the entrance with the Irvine Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, which is usually busy and has someone pulsing the cars into that parking lot. If you can, approve from the other direction and let the person pulsing in the cars that you're here for the dog park and they'll usually let you in. read more

This is a well kept dog park. There are separate areas for small and large dogs. Thank you for the PLENTY of poop disposal bags and garbage bins in which to place them! These are checked daily and if any one area is out of poop bags, the bags are immediately refilled. This is impressive and demonstrates Irvine's commitment to keeping the parks clean. There is plenty of shade and, depending on the time of day, can be found in different areas of the parks. There are green metal benches, which have holes in them; probably to keep water from collecting. The only complaint from nearly every one who sits on these benches is the holes because it is a HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. The holes make sense but they are hazardous to the dogs. The problem is the holes are big and wide enough for dog nails to get caught. One dog had a back toenail get caught and was ripped clean out of the foot; on one of the benches. Tons of blood. This same dog caught a front paw on a similar bench in another area and got cut where the foot meets the toenail. Four weeks later, the poor dog is still fighting off a stubborn infection. Quite costly, too.$ This is fixable. Please note: This is not my dog but is one of the regulars, beloved by all. Central Bark is a terrific Dog Park. There are very few scuffles or negative interactions. The owners are mostly mindful of their dogs. My main concern is too many are busy watching their screens and not their dogs. This parking is fantastic. All dog owners are extremely respectful and keep a close eye on their pups. Every time we visit there is a large community of people chatting it up. The environment here is genuinely great to be around. There are other benches to sit at besides in the center of the park. The area is vast with multiple poop bag stations as well as 2 water stations. The place is so big sometimes I'll lose my dog behind the trees. There's a bunch of trees here it almost feels forested going towards the back section. Dogs do tend to dig around and will leave some pit holes. My dog is notorious for crawling into them, especially when they have water. read more

Overall this park is great to visit and socialize your dog. The large dog park is massive with different areas and terrains for your dog to roam around. Everyone was super friendly and mostly aware of what their dogs were doing to ensure minimal confrontations. There are a few shaded spots with benches which is really nice during the hot summer. The only con is that not all owners clean up after their dogs, but that's going to be the case at any dog park unfortunately. The entrance can be confusing as there's a busy recycling center next door that uses the same entrance. It's a one way loop with 2 lines, the right side is for the dog park. Left side is for the recycling center that usually has the line out the entrance you can skip! read more

This is the place to be for dog owners in Irvine. Large area for the smol ones and and even larger area for the big bois. I've only ever had an issue once here w another corgi dog owner. His dog was actually aggressive and harassing multiple other dogs. I had to give a shout out to see who the owner was....ofc it was some guy not even paying attention to his abusive dog behavior. Otherwise everyone is pleasant and the dogs have a lot of area to free range. They usually have little pools for them to jump in during the heat and this place is upkept really well. It's sad what's happened to this place. It's a perfect example of what's happening to our great country. NEGLECT. This used to be one of the best dog parks in Orange County, if not the best. And you can tell now the city of Irvine had completely abandoned taking care of it. There's mud and dirt everywhere, they run out of poop bags so that you have to watch out wherever you walk. After 2 years of consistently coming here I have decided it's for the best to retire because you truly always put ur dog under the risk of something bad happening. I understand it's a public dog park (which is the problem lol) but it doesn't mean you as an owner should be careless of your dog's behavior and the risk you're putting other dogs at the park. A lot of owners find it funny or think it's a playful behavior when their dog is barking, suddenly jumps on other dogs but it rlly is not. I have given up educating people about this bc the owners have no brain to use. I know it's very convenient to take ur dog here to run around and play and it was rlly hard for me to give that up but please find alternative ways of entertaining your dog (long walks, hiking, runs) it is not worth your dog either getting brutally attacked or potentially catching a disease. Too much Poo! I am newer to the dog park scene but have visited quite a few. About four months ago we adopted a puppy from the Coastal Shephard Society. The pup has energy. I have never had a dog that ran so fast, jumped so far, and had this much unlimited energy. When she takes a nap, it starts all over again! I found that the off-leash exercise is the best. The dog parks offer a great way for her to run after the ball or just run. Two visits a day keep the midnight zoomies away. She loves the beach but the current weather with the high winds has taken away this option. Central Bark offers a huge piece of land for her to run. She can meet other dogs here also. I have met a few people that seem AOK. My pup likes to run and fetch balls. Baseballs are her favorite. Tennis balls are her second favorite. Unfortunately, twice a dog owner has walked off with her baseballs. The tennis balls and her paws come back with poo. I have walked in poo. I think with such a large park, it is easy for an owner to pretend they didn't see their dog take a dump. Because of the number of visitors, I think the city should have it cleaned more often. I find the dog park by my house to have friendly people and a cleaner environment. I think with a larger park like Central Bark, some of the accountability is lost. The intimacy of good folks and seeing the same pups is also lost. Overall, AOK. Just way too much poop for me on some days. read more

I took my dog here and he had so much fun! The park is spacious with separate designated areas for big and small dogs. Cooper had lots of space to run around and socialize with other dogs. I like how big the small dog section really was - so much room to play! We stopped by on a weekday during lunch time which worked out well since the park wasn't crowded. Still sharing a similar update. I've witnessed a dog owner in the evening laying down on a bench while his dog attacked another dog and someone else had to pry his dog off of the one it was attacking and then she was yelling at him to watch his dog and he said he didn't know what was going on. In the mornings, a small dog monopolizes the benches in the back corner by the water fountain and barks at any dog who comes near it showing obvious signs of possessiveness. Owner does nothing to fix the behavior. I just don't understand how people can come and think they own this dog park when it's a public park. Why are you allowing other to watch your dog or take over a bench. Seems like some of these regulars need some rehabilitation and owners that don't just take their dog to the dog park for exercise but take the time to train them. Just my two cents. I've also noticed dogs who "dig" in the water bowls and the owners aren't nice enough to go clean out the dog bowl after their dogs puts their dirty paws in the SHARED water bowls. This dog park is grassier and bigger than the other dog parks in OC... Barker Ranch has Astro turf and is really small... La Paws is half muddy all the time and has a dirt parking lot... etc. Theres a lot of poop bag dispensers and they're always stocked. The best part is they're open until 10! The only part that I don't like is they close all day on Wednesdays but that's just a small inconvenience. As with any dog park, there are some dogs that have behavioral issues but that's the owner's fault, not the park's. Pros: -Opens from 7am to 10pm -Lots of dog bowls for water -Decent sized paved parking lot -Relatively clean portapotty -Lots of seating and some shade -Both sides are fairly large -Dogs (and owners) are generally nice/socialized -Mostly grass with a wood chip area (small dog side) -Dog food truck and mobile groomer show up often Cons: -Closed all day on Wednesdays -Sometimes hard to get into the parking lot because of the e-waste recycling located at the entrance The other issues I've had here are common with any dog park but I'll list them anyway... -Inattentive owners that don't pick up their dogs' poop -Unneutered/unspayed dogs -Poorly trained dogs -Poorly trained owners In a nutshell, this is a well-maintained dog park that usually has a lot of dogs and it stays open the latest. read more

I'm sure every pet parent can relate to this! Nothing brings me more happiness than to see my dog running freely and playing with other pups, he's smiling the entire time! I try to visit couple times a week and each visit so far has been great. There's plenty of street/lot parking, the dog park is covered in majority of grass, friendly dogs, and balls/water bowls accessible if needed. Not only is my pup exerting energy and having a blast, it's therapeutic for me as well to appreciate being outdoor while receiving some good ol' vitamin D! If you're having trouble deciding on whether entering the small or large dog areas, the best advise is to use your good judgment. I've noticed the large dogs play rough and have witnessed a few scuffles so I myself have been hesitant to enter. As long as your medium-sized dog is gentle with the smaller dogs, you won't receive death stares. read more

I've been coming to this park for years as an "auntie" to my friends' dogs and now on a monthly or so basis as a dog mom myself. I do appreciate how much space there is in the small dog area, and ample parking and human seating (though you may want to bring your own folding chair to get a spot in the shade on a hot day). Another plus is the number of folks that frequent this park - I always know that there'll be someone here for my fur baby to interact with no matter what day or time! That being said, for a park that gets so much traffic, I do wish that the upkeep was more frequent and thorough. Some reviews note that sections of the sidewalk and rubbish bins are in need of pressure washing, and I agree. Local dawg park for me and Maximus C. located close to Irvine Valley College off Valley Oak & Irvine Center Drive. This dog park is huge allowing you to "unleash" your pooch & let him/her have some fun & run. Great place for most ppls pooches. There are fenced Small and Large dawg areas with the Large dawg area the size of half a football field. Plenty of benches in the sun & in the shade (trees & umbrella coverings) in both areas. On any given night, there could be 30-70 dawgs of various breeds & ages. A really kick back atmosphere for both dogs & ppl/owners. So far, owners have been pretty good at keeping an eye on their dawg(s). Been coming for about 3 weeks since adopting Maximus from Irvine Animal Care Center. Both he & I have regular friends. Once in the morning & evening, then sometimes during the afternoon. If you have a dawg, it's socialized, & never been here before, then come by between 630am-10pm and join the group.
