Like to try new places. This was a disappointment. Some say the food is good. I must disagree. Got the sirloin steak medium rare with mashed and green beans. Green beans were great. Then tried the steak. It was cooked right, medium rare. From there it went quickly down hill. This was the toughest steak I have ever remember eating. My fork would barely penetrate it. Cutting it moved the meat from side to side. It was riddled with gristle and sinew. I definitely will never order that if I come back. The music was very loud. Holding a conversation would be difficult at best. Leaving with a headache. Waitress's are service challenged. Not once did the waitress stop to ask how my food was. The guy who bussed the plates did not ask either even though he could see alot of steak left on the plate. Tells me they know they sell food that gets complaints if they ask. It was also a job to get a drink. Guy next to me was whistling at the waitress to get service. I worked after a half dozen attempts. She was not busy either instead she was listening to the music and shuffling around. Not a place I would bring my kids. Wouldn't recommend to a friend either. Got to be better places. read more

I do like this place because there wings are good, and we come here all the time but recently I went there and Krystal was our server we got a drink that the bar. And it didn't not taste how it normally taste and so we asked her to remake it. She made a big deal and rolled her eyes then slammed the drink down. By far one of the best bars n the city of Monroe, NC. On a quiet weekday, the mix of 90's Top 40's alt rock and 70's Classic rock. Matched with a chrome topped bar and siding instantly gives you the feel of a biker bar. If there were any doubt, the massive chopper mounted in the foyer will dispel any uncertainty rdgarding the theme of the tavern. The food is exceptional. The environment is dynamic and unpredictable. The food is made to order and everything I've had there, from the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp to the Cajun Dry Rub Wings, has been exceptional. I highly recommend the pizza. However, IF...you are Anywhere in the vicinity of any type of altercation created by someone else, and you protect or defend yourself; be prepared to be told on your return visit that you are no longer allowed in there for food or drink. *It is unfortunate that a Regular patron can no longer frequent their favorite new bar & grille as a result of someone else's choice to act violently out of drunkenness. First off I would like that state that my brother and I went to another restaurant for lunch before coming to Iron Thunder and were very disappointed in the OTHER establishment. Then decided to go to Iron Thunder. It was a brisk afternoon and we were in the mood for some warming alcohol. We walked in the front door and saw many people having fun and enjoying themselves, so we were excited. Sat down at the bar and Maddie quickly and efficiently asked for our order. She offered many suggestions and was able to Steer us in a direction of culinary excellence. We enjoyed many cold beverages and numerous televisions to watch our NFL games on Sunday. There were unruly guests sitting at the other side of the restaurant and Maddie and the staff were able to easily handle the difficult situation. As the evening progressed, the service provided by the Iron Thunder staff continued to be excellent. We enjoyed our delicious draft beer and continued to enjoy the service provided by the Iron Thunder staff. Will Most certainly be returning soon. read more

Bad, bad experience!!! Started out asking for drinks in a short glass, 3 x's and got a large glass. Red flag #1. Ordered pizza, how can you screw up pizza? Large Pizza came and cheese was burnt, the ground beef may have even been burnt, hard to tell since each bite you took tasted burnt, crust was fine. It was so bad that we only ate 1/2 piece each and left the entire rest of the pizza when we left. 7 + full slices. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog!! After a couple of drinks we decided to have a shot and be on our way, but we were informed that our regular drinks had to be empty before they could give us a shot, really!! First off, I see previous reviews on how the women look. This is their gimmick and I 100% agree with this. Hooters is classy girl next door cheerleader, but Iron Thunder is the tattooed chick and your not so next door girl. This particular Iron Thunder is the epitome of trash. I was told they were closed at 11:10pm while there were 13 others inside by the bar and pool tables. The bartender exact words were "we're closed" I have been a server and bartender for over 15 years and normally you say "I've already called last call or im sorry but......" My husband and I were the 2 "odd man out" if you will, but we were there to meet our friend. Iron Thunder was our son's choice on a Sunday night while we were visiting the grandchildren.Straight in the door was pool tables on the left bar in the middle,tables to the right and a ton of TV's.Our waitress was fairly quick to greet us and bring our menu's.Iron Horse is a pretty good size place,just a hint loud but I'm a hint OLD myself so there you go.The grandchildren got a grilled cheese and fries.(their a yr old).Our son was telling me their Buffalo Chicken sandwich was good.And kinda Large.He And I ordered that with fries.My wife got the grilled chicken with fries.Our daughter in-law chose chicken tenders and tot's.While we waited our waitress was fairly good about keeping our drinks full.When our food came the look on my wife's face was priceless.She is Not a big eater and her grilled chicken sandwich was Huge to say the least.She asked for a box before she started to eat.Mine and my sons was just as big.Looked like a chicken on steroids.Our sandwich came with Lettuce and Tomato and their Buffalo sauce.Pretty good I thought.Even though it hung of the big ol' bun it was on I managed to get it down.Their sauce was good and a bit warm(hot).But dipping my fries in the ranch dressing helped with the heat.It was a very big sandwich.Really not that pricey for what we all had either.I hope we will go their again.Soon.Be hungry if you order that big ol sandwich. read more

This post is based 95% on service. Our food was very tasty for the most part minus the mac and cheese which was very greasy, we were literally pouring oil out of the cup it came in. My buffalo chicken sandwich tasted great despite coming with lettuce and tomato a requested be left off. What upset me the most though was the nearly 10 minutes my drink was empty. I understand being a server you can get busy and have trouble getting to everyone but my server was sitting down enjoying her lunch while I was hoping to get a refill to wash down my sandwich with burnout sauce. I have had good experiences at this restaurant that's the only reason I gave two stars but today was not one of them. I will give it one more try and hopefully the service will be better. read more

Im surprised there are only 3 reviews for Iron Thunder. I have been here about 6 times since it opened. (All for lunch I believe). Every time I visit, everyone is friendly....service is good (usually very prompt) and most importantly, food is always great. Very consistent. Not sure where this place gets their chicken from but the chicken sandwiches are enormous!! Even the amount of chicken they pit on their salads is huge. Also, the chicken tastes great. Never tough. I would highly recommend this place for lunch and/or dinner! read more

One of the most HORRIBLE experiences ever. I don't even know where to start. We've had bad service at this location so started frequenting their location in Concord although it's a longer drive. Recently, we've started going back to the Monroe location and have noticed a decline in customer service lately. Tonight was unbelievable even for the Monroe location "standards" (Or lack of in this case) 1) From the start our waitress was in a bad mood (see #4) and had a bad attitude. We witnessed her rolling her eyes on numerous occasions as she walked away. The 2 waitresses actually bickered over who was going to take the 2nd table in our party. 2) Took over 1.5 hours for the food. Only "explanation" we got was "we are short staffed" and "this place is a shit show"(quote from our waitress) 3) Sat at table that wasn't cleaned. After an hour of waiting, we asked the barback to clean our table. and was handed a bottle and and rag and he walked away leaving us to clean our own table,,,,REALLY????? 4) Ended up getting most of our drinks from the bar ourselves because it took 16 minutes to get each drink (we timed it). This could be because we witnessed 2 servers (including our own) playing "grab ass" with 2 other "customers" and flipping off each other which turned out to be a stalking ex-boyfriend, which the manager on duty acknowledged, but still allowed them to stay. 5) While trying to voice my concern with Hailey (manager on duty) she proceeds to ignore me and answers the phone. How rude !!!!!! 6) They have a blatant disregard for the mask mandate. They do not require their staff or customers to wear masks. I have been there a few times and everytime the food has been very good. I love the wings, Burnout is my preference (very hot) they have a great flavor. They also do karaoke on Friday nights and the KJ is very professional and does a great job. My only complaint would be the layout tends to make it a little loud and it's a little difficult to carry on a conversation but it is a restaurant/tavern so it is expected to be a little louder than a typical restaurant. First time. Called in for some wings. Wings are pretty good.Wings were ready when I got there. That's a plus. Was only about ten other people in the place. All guys except for one "woman"..all the others were waitresses. Must have been pajama night. They were in there night gowns. What Was left of them. Bartender was in a pair on daisy dukes that was about 2 sizes small and her wife beater was about to bust out. The guys and "woman"shooting pool was loud and about drunk. This is a pretty good bar and bar food restaurant. It won't be getting it's Michelin Stars anytime soon, but for fried appetizers and basic but tasty sandwiches it's pretty good. Good on tap beer selection with a few crafts, but a few basic Miller, Budweiser and Coors selections too. The liquor selection isn't great, but they have the basics. Plenty of TVs for football season, and the service is decent. It's biker friendly, always a few nice bikes outside, but not a "biker bar" by any means. The staff wears Hooters style outfits, short shorts and tank tops. If that offends you, avoid the place, probably not your scene. In the big picture it's a very average sports bar. For Monroe, I'd rank it above average based on food, booze selection and location. read more

Only reason for the 2 stars is because i came here before and service was great as well as the food! Came here tonight and the food again was good but!!!....we asked for lemon cake and wings to go, and my hubby ended up in the er because what he thought was lemon cake was actually almond! And our winds were full of blood i have pics but cannot post. Called bk to let management know and she hung up on me...called bk to speak with general manager and she said she was general manager explained what happened and she said "well there is nothing i can do", and hung up again! It is a shame when u have a solid restaurant locally and it is poorly managed by incompetent people....hannah will def give this business a bad name with her poorly put together uniform and poor management skills...well and our friends will not come bk to very under cooked food and management with people or customer service skills.. read more

Welp! Where do I start. Came in and ordered Tacos because it "Wednesday Taco Night" .75 cent tacos with a purchase of a drink and dine in only. So I ordered 6 tacos for me and my boyfriend to share. The waiter never mentioned that it was only certain tacos that were on sell or special. The promo on the table and at the front door does not say anything about certain tacos. Come to find out I order 24 dollars worth of tacos instead 4.50. I understand I should have asked but I feel as if the waiter should have made that clear when someone orders tacos on that special night. The buffalo chicken taco was great. I went to this place when it first opened and I was impressed. I enjoyed the food and it came out around 20m after ordering. The girls were new of course but they were nice and we didn't have to wait to order. I do want to note that the outifits the girls wear are not skimpy unless they have a theme night.
