Iroco is situated in the more posh parts of the town now, that is promissing though not a guarantee for quality.
The service was polite for Madrid standards, and very professional (for the most part).
To cut a long story short. The best about the Iroco is its garden. Idylic, well maintained, stylish, actually a good setting for good food. I am not sure if we caught a bad evening but there was too much just not right to be coincidence.
We were 5 pax and spend EUR 273 for 3 starters that we shared (the foie gras was excellent, the rollitos were good, the croquetas caseras de jamon tasted of nothing really) 5 main dishes (two solomillos de tenera, one tuna fish, one cabrito and one sorpresa, three deserts (two cremosos de chocolate one glace de cafe)
The solomillos were not served with the degree of cooking that was ordered (one was ordered a punto the other was ordered medium rare) I ended up with the medium rare, my friend with my solomillo which was not a punto. I should have ordered the Merluza, well I had fish the day before and the solomillo was the next best choice as I don't like cabra.
The plates were stylish food was arranged in a minimalistic way onto them.
My friends who had ordered the Cabrito and the tuna fish were satisfied, we meat eaters were not.
The desert was announced wrongly the Cremoso de chocolate was announced as cremoso de cafe (not on the menue) which we of course declined after the waiter had come back twice with the same dish giving it a different name (until the head waiter put an end to all this and placed the two cremosos).
All in all not a very pleasant experience oh.. and we do speak Spanish and there was a Spaniard with us :) read more
