Attended the evening of Sept 12th, with a group of six adults. Upon arrival we were given our own table and were introduced to Johnny, our storyteller. Johnny was very welcoming and interested in getting to know a bit about our group; turns out we had a Philadelphia, PA connection as he spent some time there a few years ago.
The evening includes two rounds of story telling and a musical performance during dinner. The stories were interesting and fun. You really get a sense of Irish culture and traditions. Johnny's passion for storytelling was very clear and he did an excellent job keeping the attention of his audience. The musical duo were excellent and very engaging; they definitely get your toes tapping and hands clapping. We particularly liked the rather salty musician, he was a good time.
I found the food to be great too. The Beef and Guinness stew was wonderful and piping hot. The service was okay, I agree with other reviewers that it was difficult at times to order a drink. I found it easier going down to the bar downstairs to get something. The room where the evening takes place was on the third floor of the Brazen Head, and although it was a packed house, it didn't feel too cramped. However, as the evening went on, the room did grow to be a bit warm, so if you tend to get warm easily, dress appropriately.
Be sure to provide your email address to Johnny at the end of the night; he will send you the stories from the evening. Overall, I'd highy recommend this event during your visit to Dublin. Thanks Johnny! read more
