We are back again after 8 years! Chris and Mick were outstanding! Had a lot of fun, learned a bit and laughed continously! A must do for all tourists and even locals!

Date: October 2016 This was such a fun amazing tour! I love amphibian tours! Our tour guide was so funny! Unfortunately my BF & I were the last ones to board. We left the Guinness storehouse a little later than expected. They actually called us as they did not want to leave us. As they called our taxi pulled up right behind the bus. Due to being late there were just two seats available directly behind the driver not the prime seating and certainly very uncomfortable as we are tall! Knees were hurting a bit after. We still had fun but wish we would've had some leg room the back and other seats definitely had more. We still had a cool fun time so I won't take stars off for our seating as it was our fault!

We had the best time ever on the Viking Splash Tour!! We got to see the historical sites of Dublin, roar at crowds while wearing our viking hats!! Our driver Liam and guide Brenden were very funny and professional on this tour and made it a lot of fun. We will definitely do this again our next time to Dublin!!!

Ah it's just great craic really isn't it. What can be said that hasn't been said before? - Have a sneaky drink before you go on - merriness will help the cause ;-) - Wear warm clothes even if it's not cold outside - you'll thank me for this advice! - Sit up front if you can - it can be quite difficult to hear the (perennially hilarious) driver / guide up front if you're near the back - Have your camera ready for the water part. It's rare to see Grand Canal Dock from this vantage point, and it really is a sight to behold. - Resistance is futile. Embrace the RRRAARRRRR!!! - Go get yourself a nice cosy drink in the Dawson Lounge afterwards, or some nosh in Hatch & Sons that's right across the way from the drop off point. If you can't have fun on the Viking Splash, you can't have fun anywhere. Fact. Job done!

What an excellent tour the Viking Splash tour is. On land and water. Climbing on board we found a Viking hat on each seat, yay! Our tour guide, Viking Bill went through all the safety precautions, while maintaining the entertainment factor. And then we set off! We laughed, smiled, waved and shook our fists all around the city. It really was a hoot. To see the reaction of some of the celts (AAAARGH!!!) as we drove past was priceless. From broad smiles, to bemusement, to "what-the...", to pretending we were not there. Hilarious. I did think at times the driver was rushing a bit, but maybe the tour normally goes fast in some places to make up for time lost in traffic? That said, the guide was immensely humorous, the highlights being the Lady in Red and Chelsea guy. He also had some great information and history to tell along the way. There was a good mix of laughs, while not getting too serious with the the history lesson. Thanks Bill. These amphibious vehicles, DUKW, were built by women during WW2 for use in the war. Girl power and all that. I'm sure the Spice Girls are delighted about this. We didn't get to splash due to a death in the canal basin. Maybe next time. Recommended fun, I would think kids would love this and all the roaring. AAAARGH!! CELTS!! AAAARGH!!

If anybody comes to town and wants to do something very unique, cool and crazy, then this is definitely the thing to go for! It is a bus with open top that cruises around Dublin and tells you some of the touristic stuff, in a funny and quirky way with the loooovely Irish accent of course (hope you understand it!). Everyone gets to wear a plastic Viking hat and there's lots of growling noises to be made whilst cruising around: "Raaawwwwr!!!" Awesome!!! There are some great photo ops BUT the coolest thing yet remains, because.... drumroll please.... the bus turns into a BOAT!!! Yes! Can you believe it?! You literally take a little swim around some of the newer parts of town, where fancier buildings can be seen. The local, up and coming, trendy neighborhood. Of course the neighborhood is even trendier with local offices of Google and Facebook nearby. Hear hear! If you're a Viking and are not afraid of a little fun, then you should definitely give it a try!

What a hoot! Our Viking Splash Tour guide had me/us in stitches! He was very entertaining! I highly recommend the tour if only to get a good laugh and to work out any stress in the form of 'Hagar the Horrible' yells at unassuming Celts. AAArrrggghhh....! Yeah, this tour is good for the soul! A lot of laughter and yelling in a 'safe environment' (i.e. big yellow boat-ish thingie on wheels) never hurt anyone! As for the tour aspect of it, well, one can glean little tidbits here and there. But, you are moving and there is a noise factor; so, don't plan on this tour as a reference for your Irish history research paper. Go with a friend. Go with a group of buddies. Have a drink beforehand and enjoy the ride. You will learn a little something and you will laugh and, at minimum, you'll be able to don a horned helmet finally. Aaarrrggghhh....!

    Katie G.

Don a helmet, jump into the amphibious WWII vehicle and prepare to ROAR your way around the streets and waterways of Dublin. An interesting way to tour the city (and canal) - this gives a different perspective from the usual tour bus. Sense of fun and sense of humour needed to enjoy this to the full.

Sometimes it's nice to be a tourist in your own city and when the sun is shining, I can't think of anything more fun. So we hopped on the Viking splash tour. Firstly it is pricey, 20 euro each for about an hour and twenty minutes. The novelty is in the by road and by water tour. You travel around Viking Dublin, but you learn very little about the Vikings. Instead the guide pointed out he typical tourist hotspots such as St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christchurch, Trinity etc with no mention of when the Vikings arrived, Wood Quay settlement etc. I guess the Viking part of the tour is wearing the historically inaccurate horned helmet. Anyway, it's fun. You can't deny that. The boat part around Grand Canal was lovely but again not very historical or Viking related. The guide was full of wit but also a lot of factual inaccuracies, calling Westland Row DART station Tara Street etc. But as the only Irish people on board, I guess that didn't matter. If you would like a historical guided tour, there are probably better ones. But if you want to throw on a horned helmet and shout at unsuspecting passers by, go for it. We had a good laugh but perhaps rebranding it as a splash tour and ditching the Vikings might be more accurate.

view from the water of where Bono's recording studio is
    Betsy B.

Where else can you wear a viking helmet and yell at tourists? That's what you get to do on this tour. It leaves from the north side of St. Stephen's green and you board the vehicle in the order in which you booked-you can book online any time. There is a helmet for everyone and you get to practice your best viking roar before setting off. You will see the main city sites before heading to the water area. They put pontoons on the vehicle and give you life vest and then you cruise in a large circle type of area where you see where Bono's recording studio is and facebook and google headquarters. It was fun.

He sang a song or 2 along the way but he couldn't answer any of the questions asked and barely spoke. He dropped us at stops going in blindly. He was an older gentleman, so I understand the low energy but perhaps time to hang up his hat. As first timers to Ireland, I chose the Dark Hedges/Giants Causeway/Belfast tour because I was infatuated by photos of the Dark Hedges I saw online. I had no idea it looked NOTHING like it. It was really a waste of a stop. Giants Causeway was nice.. great photo op. It's a long walk downhill, then back up. Luckily, there was a bus that operates both ways for £1 (tap cards accepted ). We heard there was opihi in Belfast and found some along the way (we're from Hawaii). Super windy that day so we were getting flown all over the rocks. Only stop on the tour that was worth it. Next stop, Belfast City Centre. The tour guy dropped us off near City Hall with absolutely no direction. He told us about a mall nearby, but that's it. Anything worth seeing was already closed. I really wished he would've gave us more recommendations about what to do, where to eat, or anything worth seeing in the short amount of time we had there. After walking around City Hall, we walked to the mall to use the bathroom, stopped at a souvenir shop, then headed back. Total waste of time, again. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND! Sadiy, I purchased the tickets for this tour after the price had gone up about €10 from their 2025 prices. Tour was also supposed to end at 8pm but we got back by 7pm because he kept rushing us. Leaving early from stops. Felt rushed the whole time. I feel it was a total waste of money that could've been used elsewhere.

On the way, we had some bus trouble, which was unfortunate, but I will certainly not blame that on Irish Day Tours. In fact, I want to give them praise for the driver's attentiveness, making sure the passengers were safe, and the company being expedient in getting a new bus out to accommodate the rest of the tour. The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most beautiful sights I have ever laid my eyes on and we were blessed with great weather on this particular day. Sunny and not too windy (our visit was at the end of February but not sure how typical this is for that time of year). I believe we were allotted 1.5-2 hours at the Cliffs which we enjoyed every minute of. The stop in Doolin for lunch was charming and I was impressed with how quickly they were able to serve us. Unfortunately, we were not able to experience Galway on our tour due to the technical difficulties but I appreciate them being mindful of the schedule. I want to give particular praise to our driver and guide Kevin, who was absolutely fantastic in not only getting us there and back safely but is full of fascinating information on Ireland's history. As we continued to learn about Ireland over the course of the rest of our trip, I found myself wanting to ask Kevin his opinion on many topics. Thank you Kevin and IDT!

It's something peppa pig would ride on of and when she visits the Isle! The teas, coffee and juices were quite nice. We enjoyed some "Nosecco" (Non alcoholic prosecco) as part of ours and were quite happy with the purchase. There were half a dozen tea choices as well as Cadbury hot chocolate, which we all liked. Everything had a screw on lid in a cup we got to keep so there was minimal spillage and maximum memories! The selection of finger sammys, tea cakes and accouterments was quite nice. The passion fruit and mango mousse was the biggest crowd pleaser from the desserts, and the scones were as good as advertised- someone's mom taught them well....or the Irish equivalent of bisquick is solid! The tour took us around the city and while we don't remember a ton, we got an idea of some of the main spots to see, and learned that no one know why the doors around town are painted fun colors - perhaps it's just because they're fun! He actually knew what he was talking about and didn't just recite facts -- he added personality, humor, and context that made everything stick. When you're spending that long together on a bus, the vibe is everything, and he nailed it. We lucked out with amazing weather at the Cliffs -- cold, but crystal clear visibility.
