Like with many activities at this age, it took a couple of weeks for her to fully adjust and feel familiar with the environment but consistency made a big difference. As parents, we appreciate seeing her come home excited and proud of what she created. It is easy to notice how much she has progressed over time and we get very excited when we see her project. We also appreciate the communication style of the school. They provide a high-level overview each week of what the kids will be working on, which keeps parents informed without overwhelming us with too much information. On the administrative side, tuition payments and renewals are simple, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful whenever we have had questions or needed help resolving any mistakes on our part. We also love the location. Depending on the day and who is with me, it is easy to wait nearby at the library, a coffee shop, or a restaurant while class is in session.

I'm excited about the fact the studio offers 4 week sessions and weekend classes, and look forward to enrolling in a class soon. The owner is very knowledgeable although I don't find him very friendly. I feel he would rather be doing something better with his time but he does respond when I ask questions. He has never offered suggestions to help - like saying "try this piece as it is almost the same as the one you are looking at but half the price and you don't need that big a piece" or "this piece is hard to cut and won't work with the lead you have just picked out". He holds classes at the shop which always look well attended. He always wraps the supplies very well to protect them.

My wife and I stopped by for our date night, and neither of us had much experience with ceramics. Bri guided us in selecting the object we wanted to make and how to put it all together. We got to chat with her a bit, and I am sure Studio Sumi is soon to be a neighborhood gem.
