So while I love the iPhone (and have been a user for over a year now), I very much resent the ease with which the screen cracks --even with a case! Its a brilliantly crafted scam by Apple if you ask me. In either case, the first time I damaged the screen I figured, the thing still works, so I will ride it til the wheels fall off rather than opt to pay $250+ for a new phone. Inevitably, the wheels fell off and a final drop left my formerly cracked screen, cracked AND out of commission. A friend of mind suggested that I consult with "The iPhone Doc" --or Mike. Mike met me at a Starbucks around the corner from my job on my lunch break. Within 10 minutes (possibly less --I didn't time him) my phone was restored to its original shiny glory. I was incredibly grateful that I didn't have to compromise my entire lunch hour; that Mike came to ME; and that I didn't have to dispense $250 to those sneaky snakes at Apple! The price was more than reasonable and Mike was super nice. Where ever I see a cracked phone, I recommend his services --unless the person looks unsavory in which case I just pass along his business card and keep it moving. read more

The guy was 30 mins late. My phone's original condition was that it turned on and functioned but my the screen didn't light up. He opened my phone and to my surprise found water inside. It was most likely a collection of condensation from humidity or having in the bathroom when I showered. But he kept giving me absurd scenarios such as someone at work spilled water on my phone and didn't tell me. Maybe he found it amusing but for someone who really needing their phone fixed it was frustrating. Anyway he told me he doesn't do water damage which is understandable. He try a new screen and battery anyways, neither worked. He put my phone back together and now it won't turn on at all!?! read more

Needed to replace battery on Iphone 4s, and went to Apple store, even though I knew they charged a lot. After about two hours of waiting, they tell me they won't replace battery because at some point screen had been replaced, and their policy is they won't touch any phone that's been touched by a 3rd party repair. (Was my wife's phone given to her by my daughter. Never knew she had screen replaced). After fruitlessly arguing that battery had nothing to do with screen, sought out another option. Michel is awesome. A commuter accidentally stomped my phone at Grand Central, and my lovely iPhone 7 Plus screen spiderwebbed. Because I don't enjoy glass shards embedded in my fingers, I sought out a repair service. I stumbled upon this one after reading a Refinery29 article. I was able to make an appointment easily through his website. Unfortunately, on the day of my initial appointment, my screen had not been delivered. He called me hours before and informed me of the issue. Not only did he overnight the part, but he was super gracious and flexible with rescheduling my appointment (I have a crazy schedule). He arrived before I did (and I was there 5 minutes early), and was done in less than 15 minutes. We also had a friendly chat, which made the time pass by faster. When he was done, he inspected my case and fit, and recommended a different case to use (one that he actually had on his phone). Even better, he didn't charge me extra for having to overnight the part. This guy blows my mind!! Researched for phone repair last night, found this guy had superb reviews and was able to meet basically anywhere in Manhattan and Brooklyn. So was in the city this morning made an appointment 40 minutes in advance, met Michel at the coffee shop, handed over my shattered iPhone 6, went to order a tea and use the restroom and as I was walking back to the table he was already packing up his stuff!!
