Aaron was fined by the Division of Professional Licensing for this action but continued to use Makoa on our project for another 6 months. Additionally, if you search on the Division of Consumer Protection for "Simply Comfort" you will see that it is not a licensed HVAC company nor is Aaron [Anthony] licensed to perform this work. NEVER use unlicensed contractors or contractors that use unlicensed workers. There were issues with quality of work, price manipulation, construction defects, unfinished work, broken commitments, deceptions, dishonesty, and other issues. Aaron did not return as he promised to complete some work and also refused to address warranty issues related to construction defects. Strongly do not recommend Aaron or his companies (Energy Systems, Simply Comfort) for any work due to the issues described above.

I still had doubts on my upstairs unit which was struggling to get to its desired temperature. Then the downstairs unit outdoor fan stopped working. I went with Eagar for the diagnosis and they came by same day and diagnosed a common capacitor replacement issue. Replaced capacitor and downstairs unit started working as expected. Great! The technician was also willing to do a quick basic check on my upstairs unit and turns out it was low on refrigerant. 2 lbs and some UV dye/sealant later my upstairs system now can match the set temperature for a change, and I didn't have to break anywhere close to 4 or 5 digit pricing. The pricing seems fair to me. They don't offer those $30 tuneup prices but they also don't beeline to pressuring your into a new HVAC unit either or suggesting services which seem dubious and with exorbitant pricing. Makes it hard to trust. Instead Eagar charges a reasonably regular price but also gives your unit a fair, honest assessment, which ultimately is what I want, with units that are 18 and 12 years old! I've known Chris for several years now. This is the second time he's done a new installation for us. About five years ago he installed a new Tempstar furnace in our town house. We had a very old furnace at the time and the new Tempstar was a much needed upgrade. Chris also helped us qualify for the Utah Home Performance Plan, a state run program at the time, that saved us a lot of money on the new furnace. Consumer beware... this company serviced our furnace in the attic and right after they left…read more(unknown to us) the furnace started leaking as the condensation pipe they had blown on during their 'tune up' they unfortunately jarred apart and it started to slow leak condensation into our walls!! We gave them a fair chance to take responsibility for this before posting a bad review by sending an email and certified letter to them with repair invoices (costs we incurred) and photos of the flood damage asking for reimbursement (under 3k), but they took zero responsibility. Despite being the last ones to touch the pipe they sent me a lengthy email back blaming the people that installed the furnace five years prior when the house was built, claiming it was installed incorrectly! Can you imagine?! Mind you these people have serviced our furnace the last three years and never once mentioned a faulty installation as part of their duty to let us know if something with our furnace wasn't right!!! I would absolutely not use this company unless you're willing to have your house flooded due to their negligence and then get stuck with the bill ontop of the stress of your brand new home being damaged. They came and replaced a fuse for $300, but they warned her that the unit was original with the 30-year home and it was on its last legs. It surely would break over the hot summer and would need to be completely replaced at $8 to $9k if she agreed to do it right now. Or, if she waited, she was told that it would cost more this summer. I was on the phone and heard the salesman say this. I told her to first get a second opinion because this just sounded too much like a pressure job on a single 20-something female. We had another local company come that same day and they inspected the system. They told my daughter that the system was only 6 or 7 years old--not 30--and showed her the proof. It has plenty of life ahead, completely contradicting Larsen's technician. This second company did not charge my daughter a penny to come out and said they wouldn't give her a quote because she did not need a new unit. I am so glad my daughter got a second opinion. Now I am wondering if my other two units really needed their systems replaced. Larsen has lost my trust and I won't use them again. I will not recommend them and have found a new heating/ac company I will use in the future. Honesty counts. I asked for a response from the owner and he has not written me back. I paid another guy to come out on Easter Sunday to just say yep it's broke here is some space heaters. Then Air Express came out actually took it apart and fixed it for me and gave me great feedback let me know where some concerns were that the other guy never said. I am able to replace the furnace later on giving me enough time to take advantage of this opportunity to change my ductwork before replacing the furnace so I can have it in a different location. I feel like we prepare for rainy days and this technician is helping me knock two birds with one stone by not leading me down the rip off path the other company did to me twice now. Utah remains one of the hottest states for solar adoption. Because of the large number of solar…read morecompanies, it's very confusing to know which one to use. Adding to the confusion is when some companies inundate your neighborhood with sales reps going door-to-door, a practice that--to me--is extremely irritating. Rather than choosing a finance company in the guise of a solar installer (more on that later), I searched through Yelp and found Redstone Solar, and I'm really glad I went with them. I had four different companies provide bids for my system. Chris (the owner of Redstone) surveyed my home and made the most easy-to-understand proposal for the system that would match my specifications. He knew I'd be getting Tesla Powerwall batteries as well as a Tesla automobile, so he made sure my system could provide all the capacity I'd need. He was extremely nice and explained the answers to all of my inquiries. That was very different from the other companies, most of which were an absolute waste of time because they were too busy convincing me to buy solar rather than answer my questions or design a proposal. (I'd already decided to get solar, which is why I asked for bids, not sales pitches.) And unlike one of the competitors, Redstone didn't require me to sign any documentation prior to receiving a bid. (That's just craziness.) The Redstone proposal was not the cheapest, but all of the equipment was name brand and after doing some research online, turned out to be some of the most efficient and longest-lasting solar products on the market. Knowing that solar is an investment, it made sense to go with value instead of choosing the cheapest bottom line. Chris and the other folks at Redstone were also the nicest, had the most prompt communication, and never said 'let me get back to you' to any of my questions, proving that they were super knowledgeable about the products and services they offered. All that--along with the 5-star rating on Yelp--helped me feel like I'd found the right company for the job. Another thing I liked was that Redstone is NOT a finance company masquerading as a solar company. Redstone only does solar; They don't try to sell you their own financing, which is something you'll run into a lot when shopping solar installers. Instead, Chris looked around and found that Key Bank had the best rates at the time, so that's where I got my home equity loan. The system was installed in September of 2016 just as the state was about to change the solar net metering rates. Chris knew I was in a hurry to get in under the wire, so he scheduled the installation over the course of a few days rather than waiting for one full day. That was extremely helpful. In the end I got a 6.5 kWp system with 20 Panasonic panels and a Solar Edge 7600 inverter. Redstone worked hard to get all the city permits approved and get Rocky Mountain Power to install the net meter (the unit that monitors how much power you send back to the grid.) They also worked with the roofing company I chose (because I got a new roof installed prior to the solar system) and provided me with all the state and federal forms I needed for the tax incentives. Initially I didn't see profoundly lower electricity bills from November through February (the most challenging months to garner power from your roof, at least in the northern hemisphere.) Still, my average $100 monthly bills were reduced to between $30 and $40 dollars. From March to May (it's getting sunny and the days are getting longer), my monthly bills have been $9.00. That's right: 900 pennies. I'm able to monitor my solar production online and via an app on my iPhone and iPad. It's a real gas to see how much energy I'm generating (a total of 3.9 MWh so far), how much CO2 I've kept out of the environment (6,027.55 lbs.), and how many equivalent trees I'd have to plant (151.82 trees) to make the same environmental difference. In the end I'm extremely satisfied with my solar system and the job it's doing for me, my neighbors (who use my extra solar power instead of fossil fuel-based energy), and the environment. Now that solar power is under attack from state and federal agencies, it's up to us--the citizens of the planet--to make the investments necessary for our world to be here for future generations. Redstone Solar made that process very easy, and I'm head-over-heels happy with the results.
