I've been debating whether to post this review for a while, but I think it's time I do…read more The worst treatment center I've ever been to. I had money on my card the entire time, yet my caseworker never took the time to sign a slip to withdraw it and put it on my account. She also failed to arrange a trip to procurement so I could get clothes, even though all my leggings and personal clothing were taken away upon admission. It got so bad that other patients were gifting me clothes to wear because I had none--entirely due to my caseworker Kylie's neglect. Overall, I felt completely unadvocated for and as though my caseworker had a genuine disdain for me. I've been to several treatment centers throughout my life, and this was by far the worst. They kicked me out for telling my roommate "I'm not the one" after a heated argument ensued. They already knew tensions between us were building, and she had been repeatedly targeting me by running to the program office, even while I was severely sick with a stomach flu that put me in the hospital. I wasn't the one who went to the office to report her either, because I don't believe in dragging others down or tattling to make life in a treatment center easier. That's bad karma, and sure enough, that same patient eventually had everyone turn on her when my friend returned there later to try to get help. When I was told I was being terminated, the caseworker's supervisor claimed that "I'm not the one" meant "I'm going to f*** you up." That is not what it means. In my context, it meant "I'm not someone you want to mess with"--a statement of boundaries, not a direct threat. But by that point, I was so over the place that I didn't even argue. I was done and ready to go. After I was kicked out, Kylie made it a point to call and inform my father, clearly hoping to make my life harder. This was especially telling because every other time my dad had called during my stay, she never returned his calls. It was obvious she was reaching out to try to create turmoil between me and my family--but it completely backfired. Instead, my dad was fully on my side and ended up chewing her out, giving her the opposite of what she was hoping for. They couldn't even relay my insurance information to the hospital, despite billing my insurance for treatment. It wasn't until I received an almost $9,000 bill and had to call to straighten it out myself that I decided to finally post this review due to their incompetence. This place is about business, not truly helping people. If they were, they would have advocated for me and made my stay more manageable. Many of the women there are cliquish, and if you're into tattling to conform to the program, you'll probably survive. But if you're unwilling to compromise your morals and values by becoming a snitch, it will be a very difficult environment. There is also clear favoritism. I will give them credit that some of the staff were genuinely cool, but the ones truly in charge were not.

How we got here & why!!!…read more I thought the police knocking at your door would be the last person you would want to see at your door, turns out it's actually DCFS- Department of Children Family Service . I'm very familiar with then since I too work for The County of Los Angeles-different department. Unfortunately when we moved into our new home from the beginning we had issues with our downstairs neighbors. You know when you get a vibe, we got that vibe but always did the friendly hello & goodbyes, then it got weird. They would run when they would see us, we'd think to ourselves ok??!? . Then this where I was WTF?? I caught our downstairs lady taking pictures of my son & I yelled wtf you doing & off she ran, a few days later DCFS was at our door with a claim against my husband, not even me which I was surprised, apparently my husband was high on opioid & let our son fall out our 2nd floor window and we didn't call the ambulance. I was in utter shock... luckily for us the social worker immediately saw this was a false allegation & we just needed to do this test to have our case cold, we killed our neighbors with kindness after this & not too long after they had been evicted & unfortunately the children she had been hiding in her apartment where taken away from her due to her substance abuse & mental state. It was all very sad too see anyone have their children taken away, I can only guess she must have assumed we may a report against them. However when they moved out, she threw everything child related out, clothes, toys, cribs, everything. Back to the why we where here, the people where very polite didn't make you feel uncomfortable as if you where a bad person, even though this place is specifically for drug/alcohol problems. Warning: you will be watched when you tinkle in a cup, all very professional. I highly recommend their services

I happen to be in the area visiting my brother in Altadena and came across the center by chance…read more Being new to the area can be quite a challenge and it's a wonderful discovery. Its rather small, a few offices and handful of staff There is a Large room in the back for larger groups and meetings as well. Overall a cozy warm and inviting atmosphere. What makes this place stand out though are the people whose work there, both Carl and Maryland have been extraordinarily helpful and and I'm quite grateful and delighted for the bonds and friendships created since coming around. The one who person that makes this place so unique and special is Shirly. An exceptional woman with infinite capabilities and resources. I'm undeniably and throughly indebted to her. Please be kind to yourself and come meet with her even if it's a minor issue you may be dealing with, she has solutions for far many more issues and problems than you might think you might have. Easy Five Stars!

Casa gave me the strongest foundation I could have ever asked for. This place saved my life…read more Walking back into Casa grounds makes me feel like I'm walking home again. Being there is like being hooked to an oxygen tank and can breath again. I could never say a bad thing about this place. The friends I've made while there are still my friends today. The staff & all the women there genuinely care about you, love you & teach you how to be a lady. Casa loved me & continues to love me until I can one day love myself. The women's meeting on Thursday night is by far the most energetic, meaningful, hopeful & strengthening meeting I have ever went to. The solution is conveyed there. I learned more about myself at Casa then I ever have anywhere else. Casa will always be home. Once a Casa girl always a Casa girl.

I wanted to leave a quick review about my experience trying to get admitted here. I was referred by…read moreKaiser and had been playing phone tag with a representative named Laura. We both missed each other's calls a few times. Her last call to me was Thursday, and I returned the call Tuesday. When I called, Laura immediately told me in a very condescending and dismissive tone that "that was a long time ago" and that I needed to contact Kaiser again. I completely understand if a new referral was required, and I can acknowledge that I could have called back sooner. My issue is not the policy it's the way I was spoken to. This is a recovery center. The people calling are often already struggling, hesitant, or trying to get themselves to accept help. A little compassion goes a long way. I've dealt with another treatment center where the staff were patient, welcoming, and persistent about helping someone get into treatment, so the difference was immediately noticeable. I had read several reviews describing staff as rude or condescending before calling, and unfortunately my interaction made me understand exactly what those reviewers were talking about. Based on the number of similar reviews, I'm not particularly confident this feedback will be taken into consideration. Some of the responses and experiences described honestly come across to me as more defensive than receptive to criticism. If you've had or end up having a great experience here, I genuinely hope that continues. I can only speak about my interaction, but when someone is reaching out for help with recovery, they should not be made to feel like an inconvenience for calling back. This interaction alone was enough to turn me away and look elsewhere.

Letter I sent to the Manager:…read more I wish to express my sincere gratitude for all the generous assistance Aurora has provided me in taking care of my brother Joey. I can't tell you how truly difficult it has been to live 3000 miles away from my brother and be responsible for getting him the care he needs. My brother and I have no family left near by who can help us and so my brother depends solely on me for help and support. I have been coming out to visit my brother twice a year since he has taken residency with Brighton. Unfortunately, last year was the first year I was unable to visit my brother and it was a bit stressful for me not to see him. What gave me peace is knowing he is in good hands there with your staff. Aurora (social Counselor) and her staff have been a huge support in making my brother feel at home. In addition, to helping me provide my brother a wonderful birthday every year and wonderful care, they have always taken time out to do the small extra things that help me greatly. Aurora and the staff do things such as search for my brother when I attempt to call his cell phone and I am unable to reach him. I start to stress and worry about where he is or what he is doing. In order to put my mind at ease Aurora and her staff take time to reach back to me and let me know where he is and how he is doing. Aurora and her staff have always made me feel welcome when I phone and allow me to ask questions regarding anything pertaining to my brother and questions regarding your facility. I just wanted to reach out to let everyone know that Aurora and her entire staff does a wonderful job and I can't thank all of them enough for everything they do. They go above and beyond for me and my brother. I truly appreciate every one of them. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this. I hope this feed back helps you better decide about placing your family here. With Respect Deanna Costa
