Recently, I was in Canadian Tired and was appalled by the lack of customer service and aggressive behaviour of staff over leaving my bags at the door. So "no thank you" to corporate hardware services, hello local retailers! This was a tiny place packed with all sorts of items. The staff was interested in helping me find a solution to my problem I was seeking to repair. I watched as they had a rapport with other local businesses and took careful time to discuss how to handle a 'rodent problem' with a neighbour. You only build that kind of trust and rapport by treating people kindly and with care. Discussing the various options including poison was an overheard conversation, but it was telling to me. Customer service is the bread and butter of the retail industry and a good measure of the trustfulness that one can have with a business owner who is attentive and caring. I'm definitely coming back with my business to this store, even though the corporate hardware option is closer.

Very reasonable prices and you can use the Home Hardware online search tools as well as going in the shop. If you can't find what you need or it's out of stock they always track it down for me. Here was what I was thinking: I wanted a Weber. Within a few minutes, they walked me through the different Weber grills, explained the advantages of the different types, and we decided that I didn't need the most expensive one. In fact, I could save a few hundred dollars by buying a much cheaper version. And, so I did. I asked how much it would cost to ship it, and how much it would cost to have it assembled. They told me that they did it all for free. Checking a few competitor prices to see if they just folded those costs into the price of the BBQ I was astonished to discover that, no, they did not! This was a free assembly and delivery. That right there is a two hundred dollar value, at the best of times! So now, a few weeks later, I'm BBQing chickens like a king, looking forward to tasty treats all summer long, and I know exactly where I'll go when I need anything else in the future!

I found Downtown lumber as a dealer of some top of the line bathroom fixtures. With all the condo's going in downtown, this is your place for one-stop shopping! Tino was able to organize all the materials we needed, giving us prices and making sure we thought of everything. John is the guy who makes sure the plumber comes in after the electrician has set up his work. The process took a lot longer than expected- something any reno is likely to run into. Some of the delays were our fault, occasionally we felt they could have come a bit sooner. We would highly recommend them to anyone for small or big jobs.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and eager to help solve problems. I wish their staff included handymen for hire because I often need a small job done that would have been done by my dad before he passed away. I am a browser so having a good amount of stock and sale items would entice me to visit more often.

Hello, I have a…read morecomplaint about your staff at the store located at 1212 Dufferin Street. Today, I visited the store to buy something, but when I arrived, the door wasn't locked and there was no one inside. I called out several times, saying "Hello, hello," but nobody responded. Concerned that something might have happened, I went a little further inside and called again, "Hello, is anybody here?" One of your staff members, a tall man, suddenly ran over and shouted at me, asking, "Why did you come in? If the lights are off, it means the store is closed." I apologized, explaining that I didn't know that, but he was very rude and told me to leave, saying, "The store is closed, get out of my store." However, the store was supposed to close at 5 p.m., and it was only 4:03 p.m. at the time. I waited outside for 2-3 minutes and then went back in to ask for the manager. The door still wasn't locked. When I re-entered, the same man opened the door, saw me, and immediately closed it again. I asked for the manager, and he claimed that he was the manager. When I asked for his name, he refused to give it to me. This is highly disrespectful to customers and reflects very poor service. I am considering filing a complaint with Human Rights regarding this issue. No staff member should speak to a customer with that kind of attitude. Upon moving in close by my husband needed some paint thinner and goo-gone. Not knowing where the closest hardware store was I did a quick Google search and discovered this place. The staff in here are pretty friendly and are quite helpful if you just tell them what you're looking for. While it is a bit dark and as I mentioned jammed full of products, the store clerks are pretty good at finding what you need. They also do key cutting here at a pretty low cost which came in handy around move-in day when we needed to get an additional key cut. Just be careful and check the hours. Because it's not a big franchise they keep pretty limited hours.
