Climbs & Inverts w Jenny. Don't get intimidated when you see higher level students! You will reach your goal w the help of the instructors!
Priscilla N.

It's been a few years now since I have attended this studio. I'm writing this review specifically for an instructor that gave me the best work out I've had In a long time. I had an amazing experience. A few things... I really appreciate that the studio provides yoga mats and it's such a pristine space. Kate I have taken for climbs inverts, tricks, and also flexibility training. She has a great teaching style and teaching voice. Her combo of warming up and conditioning gets you where you to be. It's about a 15 min or so warm up/conditioning (bring water). Pole classes w her she will always spot you and guide you and/or give modifications. She is stunning to watch in the air. But it's her flexibility training classes that I love so much. I've taken many flex training classes at different places too... but she is my absolute favorite hence this raving review. She takes you on a journey of warming up and stretching and strength training... tells you to make minor adjustments verbally and also goes around to make minor improvements just by a few touches to the body so you have good form. I appreciate that. Last nights stretch class I couldn't have been happier w that full body work out. A few years ago I took her flex training class and she got me into my side splits with in one class. Everyone's body is different so please don't expect the same results. Remember to have fun and try all the classes and instructors because they all have something different to offer! It's such a safe space and I know it can be awkward and nerve wrecking to go into a new environment. The students and instructors really know how to make you feel welcomed without any judgement. Have fun!

Having fun swinging on my 3rd class!

Just do it!! I've been wanting to try pole classes for years but was too intimidated. I'm a curvy girlie who never goes to the gym. Ever! Anyway, I finally pulled the trigger when a couple friends of mine decided to join me. I'm hooked!! I'm amazed at what my body can do now in just 2 months of classes! I'm confident, losing a little weight and just overall feel happier!! The instructors are so patient and kind. I've loved every single one of them and their unique teaching style. They always take the time to make sure I got the moves correctly! Come have fun with us! You'll love it!

We went for my bachelorette party... we had such an AMAZING time! We had Brenna, she was amazing!! I can't speak any more highly of her. She made us all comfortable and had an amazing time!! Absolutely recommend this place!!

Ask the Community - Inversion Dance Studios

Hi can a plus size women do this and what would you recommend as a starting point?

Hello, yes. I would recommend the Intro to Pole series to begin, then continue our Level 1 group classes for 1 to 2 classes consistently each week.

Hola dan clases en español?

Hi, currently all of our classes are in english.

Is there an age requirement?

Hi, if you are under 18, we just need the parental consent form signed prior to attending class. Otherwise, there is no age requirement.

I don't see what type of dancing listed in your school here?

Hello, we teach pole dancing classes.

Are men welcome to join the classes as well?

Yes, we welcome anyone who is genuinely interested in learning.

Why doesn't the wellness living site work? every time I try to click anything other than "profile", it takes me straight back to the profile. I can't access the other tabs.

Hi Katherine, please send over screenshots of what you're seeing, along with the browser type you are using to jenny@inversiondancestudios.com. Or feel free to contact us at 626-826-6226 to get you scheduled for classes.

Hi. I've always wanted to do a class like this but I'm super chubby. How does the class/ppl in the class respond to bigger ppl? (Accepting/judgment)?

Hi our studio is totally a non judgement, shame-free zone where you can be who you are with a supportive environment! We create a fun, open hearted experience for our members, regardless of size. Hope to have you join us soon!

Are they open?

Yes! Check out inversiondancestudios.com to sign up :)

Is this studio good for beginners? Ive always wanted to learn like pole dance but I'm shy and stiff when it comes to even shaking my hips.

Absolutely! We love our beginners and specialize in breaking down instruction to a T! We have our beginner foundations classes that will set you up with the basics.

This is something i've always wanted to do! Can bigger girls do this too?

Yes!!! I'm totally not a size zero and sometimes it's intimidating when there are tiny dancers in class but everyone has always been super supportive and encouraging.

How expensive is each class?

Depends on how you purchase them. An individual class is $30 but there are multiple bundles that make the cost per class lower.

What should I wear/ bring to the beginner class? Is there a place to change?

Hi Nessa, there is a restroom to change into! Here are the things to bring/wear to your first class: -form fitting workout shorts… Read more

How do you share a pole with another girl? How does that work...?

Hi Suzannah! If there are 5 to 8 people to a class, some students may need to take turns with 1… Read more

Wow, it has been years since I've written a review, yet I feel strongly enough to do so today…read more My daughter has been going to Academy 831 for the past year or so, and she started when she was around 4 years old. In the beginning, I enjoyed having my daughter here because there are big windows where I can see how she is doing, and the place is clean and spacious enough to not feel crowded. That is still the case, and the front staff is very friendly, accommodating, and informative with everything that goes on at this studio. I have had very little interaction with the owner so I can't speak to that, but overall this place seemed like a good fit for the past year or so. However, over the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a change in my child's behavior when it comes to participating in dance class. I believe that difficult situations can make my kid stronger in most regards, so I chose to observe rather than pull her out of dance as soon as she wanted. I am able to take my daughter to dance class every other Wednesday, and what I've observed is a complete lack of empathy, compassion, and kindness from Miss Megan, one of the dance teachers that teaches on Wednesday's from 5-6 pm. Over the course of a few months, I noticed some instances that I kind of brushed off as structure and a part of the growth process; but now that I look back on it, I was so very wrong. Some instances include: when my kid was having a bloody nose before dance class and she wanted to come out to blow her nose during class, Miss Megan did not allow her to. When my kid said she needed to use the restroom, Miss Megan did not allow her to. I have heard Miss Megan say, "you're fine, you don't need your Mommy" on multiple occasions. Yesterday, was my final straw. Yesterday, my kid was having a rough day. She fell during class, and she had a noticeable cry out. She looked like it hurt her to continue. I opened the class door to say "what happened?" Miss Megan said "oh she just fell, she's fine." Did Miss Megan physically walk over to check on her? No. Later on towards the class, my kid got her finger slammed by the door while going into the classroom after changing into her tap shoes. She immediately fell to the floor. While I'm holding my 2 year old, I yell out to my husband to go help my child who is on the floor in tears from the pain. Where is Miss Megan? Sitting on her bottom. The only thing she moved were her eyes. Not even a single intent to move her body to check on an injured child. This speaks volumes to how much she cares about the children she "teaches." Thank you to the owner, Christa (I'm gathering from yelp review replies), for offering an ice pack, as I'm fumbling to try to get a cold water bottle from the vending machine, and a bandaid for my inconsolable child. My kid's finger has a huge cut and her nail is black and blue, I wouldn't be surprised if the nail falls off during the healing process. I'd like this to serve as a reminder. These "dance teachers" are teaching CHILDREN. Children have immature brains and cannot process situations easily. They need to feel safe and nurtured and they need to feel like their basic needs can be met easily, such as having the freedom to use the bathroom when they need to or find their Mommy to blow their nose if they can't breathe through it. We will be finishing up this "season" of dance because my kid likes to perform, and we will be looking for a new studio that has a little more compassion and passion for teaching children. I'm a pediatric provider, and this is 100% NOT the way we should be treating our kids. As long as Miss Megan is a teacher at this school, there is no place for my children here.

We love, love, love Stagelight for so many different reasons. My daughter started Musical Theater…read moreSinging and Dance about 1.5 years ago when she was 4.5 and has really stuck with it; and this studio is magnificent. 1. Ms. Lindsey is THE best. She teaches the dance portion and has so much energy, enthusiasm, silliness - she makes dancing technique so accessible to this age, which quite honestly is a bit more harder to captivate since their attention is all over the place. 2. The price/schedules is so amazing. It fits what we need and there are so many class options - including acting, dancing, singing. There's just a lot more than a dance studio..so if my daughter were interested in improv/acting later, then she can easily switch to that or use a makeup token to check it out. 3. The productions and how they showcase their students on stage is genuinely such a huge effort and I'm amazed at how they can do this for hundreds of students across 3 shows - we love it and my daughter has a blast on the big stage, with the stage makeup and showing off their skills. And we also love how the costumes are stage/age appropriate - which honestly is something I've noticed in other dance companies I don't love. Cannot say enough great things about Stagelight. We love it and you will, too!

This arrangement may work for older kids who are able to listen and pay attention but definitely not good for the 4-6yo groups. Most of the kids were all over the place, talking, playing, distracting others and it was very hard for the instructor to control so many little ones and still try to teach. I don't recommend for very young children.
