And the location couldn't be better - right in the heart of the busy part of Inverness on the beautiful River Ness- everything is super walkable. And Inverness is a most excellent base to explore the Highlands from - and there's a wonderful tour company that has tons of tours departing from right down the street (Rabbies - they're phenomenal)!! We spent 8 out of our 10 nights in the Highlands here. They have 2 types of rooms - regular room and a "premier plus" room. The regular rooms are smaller with less "amenities" - with the Premier plus rooms you get much larger rooms, "unlimited" WiFi, larger showers with 2 shower heads (one is a rainfall type!!), a mini fridge, unlimited restocking of coffees, chocolates, and still or sparking waters, as well as some other nice little touches. Totally worth it imo - as this is a "budget" type hotel, the prices are VERY good! The first 2 nights we had a Premier plus room on the 1st floor. Our room was HUGE!! With a whole seating area and couch and everything! And we had incredible views of the River Ness, the castle and some of the historic churches - it was so lovely! The last 6 nights we were on the 3rd floor in a Premier plus room - and while it was still excellent with the great views, it was considerably smaller than the 1st floor room. You have the option to pay just under £10 per person for their daily breakfast buffet and it's worth it! They have a ton of items - all delicious and fresh cooked daily - and you definitely won't find anything like that for that price elsewhere. They have several meat choices, fresh eggs, tons of bread and pastry choices, fruit, yogurt, 5+ cereal choices, and more. They'll also make you anything on the menu you'd like that isn't already out on the buffet. And they have a huge coffee machine that makes anything you could want - from espresso to americano!! As well as hot teas, hot chocolate, & a selection of juices. We also ate here for dinner quite a bit - the restaurant scene in the town is challenging due to staffing issues and you almost always need a reservation everywhere. And there were several nights where we could only get a reservation at the in house restaurant here - kinda crazy - but it was fine bc they have really decent food! They have quite a large menu and good prices. Everything we tried was excellent (see my photos)! One dish that especially stood out was the Chicken Makhani Curry - so good we ordered it several times lol! Their salads are good too and their sticky toffee pudding was very yummy. The internet/WiFi worked very well almost our whole stay. There was one night when it went down but the staff were all wonderful and got it fixed as fast as they could. I can't speak to the parking bc we didn't have a car but I didn't see a lot anywhere - only street parking. I highly recommend staying here - we will definitely be back. I see that most reviews of this place are at least 5 years old…read more This is, hands down, the most expensive, dirty hotel we have ever stayed at and that says a lot because we've visited twenty different countries. You check yourself in at a kiosk and code your own keycards. Then you take your luggage up in an elevator whose floors likely haven't been mopped/cleaned since Easter Sunday. The rooms are small and very basically furnished, which would be fine if they were clean. There was dried milk on the desk. Some unknown dark substance inside the tea kettle, and crumbs all over the desk chair. The sheets are scratchy and there's a hump in the middle of the bed where the mattresses meet. Fortunately the bedding was clean so we stayed. If we had booked more than two nights here we would have checked ourselves out early and found some place else to stay. One star for the clean bedding and one star for the riverfront location but this will be our first and last stay at a Premier Inn. Motel 6 at Hyatt prices.

The…read moreGlenmoriston was by far the best hotel - based on value, location, comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff. The hotel is situated right on the bank of the River Ness. It's within easy walking distance of the Ness Islands in one direction, and the main part of town - shops and restaurants - in the other direction. I liked that it was a bit removed from "the bustle" of the city (if Inverness can ever be said to "bustle"), but close enough to get to without a car. Our room was in the "townhome" part of the hotel (not the main building, but the one across the parking lot), which was perfect. Our room was gigantic and super comfortable. My favorite thing was that the windows actually opened, which gave us a chance to enjoy the slight breeze and gave us a front-row seat to the church bells ringing down the way. The bed was huge and very comfortable. It was actually a little *too* comfortable; we ended up sleeping over 10 hours on our first night there! I woke up about five minutes before the front desk called to ask if we'd be needing housekeeping for the day. Oopsie! We didn't take advantage of room service or hit any of the property's restaurants/bars while we were there (we typically like to experience all a city has to offer when we travel, so while their menu looked inviting, we chose to try some of the places recommended by our taxi driver on the way into town, instead.) They did get bonus points for welcoming us to the hotel with two glasses of champagne - their way of congratulating us on our wedding anniversary. The shower looked modern, but it was kind of awkward to use, and it leaked all over the floor. They have a hair dryer (look in the desk if you can't find it elsewhere), as well as a mini putting green (stored in the closet; it's how you know you're in Scotland, I guess!) There's a TV we never used, and two comfy club chairs situated next to the windows. Check-in and check-out were fast, easy and friendly. They also went out of their way to protect us on that first day. Our taxi driver (super sweet girl named Michelle) was giving us all sorts of tips and advice on our way in, and after I mentioned my half-baked plan to rent bikes to ride out to Culloden, she dropped us off and headed towards a bike shop in town to get information on rentals. She came back to the hotel to tell us everything in person, and the front desk agent refused to tell her our room information, even though she (Michelle) kept insisting we were expecting her. This was the place that made us feel most comfortable, where we could relax after a long day of playing tourist, and where we'd definitely book again, if we're lucky enough to return to Inverness. If you're looking for a place to stay, give them a try!

I felt warmly welcomed right away and after long travels I was thankful for a clean room, comfortable bed, hot shower, and reliable WiFi. The house is beautiful. The detailed decorations include a Scottish rug in almost every room of the house. I loved the view outside my window. The local shops and restaurants are very close - an easy walking distance. The continental breakfast was simple yet good - some of the best local honey! It was quiet and easy to sleep here.

The reason for my visiting this hotel was because it's the pick up and drop off point for Happy Tours. I waited in the reception area, before the tour started, and the staff were super friendly and happy for me to sit by the couch near the window. By the way, from the beautiful stained glass window seat in their reception area, you get a great picture perfect framed view of Inverness Castle and the River Ness. I also used their loos, which are situated all the way in the back towards the right, and while there weren't any obvious signs to their location in the reception area, the corridor heading to the loos has all these really cool Edwardian photo prints, including George VI and his family. It was interesting for me to be able check out all these yesteryear photos, including a fair amount of what looked to be local photos too (not just of king & country!). We also had wine and their house lager with our meal. Our meals arrived promptly and both were delicious. Service was prompt and professional. The ambiance of the restaurant was quiet and calm even tho it was full of diners. We really enjoyed our dinner here and hope to return again some day.
