I do not remember the room name but it was a classic room as opposed to their superior rooms. The restaurant manager went out of his way to help us get to town when all the taxis were one hour wait times. The bartender made a phone call for us to get in to a busy bar we wanted to visit. We also enjoyed the breakfast and dinner here - all around a great place to stay made even better by the staff.

Earlier this year, they stopped taking any new bookings until November 2026. Yet the Marriott website doesn't warn about any construction. They do seem to honor most existing bookings, and I saw a couple tour buses of people staying as well. Local rumors are construction defects around insulation. All that aside, it was pretty great as far as chain hotels go. A thoroughly modern building, everything was comfortable and worked great. Running surely way below capacity, it was super quiet. It's a very convenient walk to the center of town as well as the train/bus stations, and it has a nice view over the river. Staff were friendly and helpful. I think construction noise starts at 9am, so that wouldn't be ideal if you're trying to sleep off jet lag.

Great for people like me who think regular hostel pillows are too flat. Booking the hostel involved extra legwork as Hostelworld and the hostel's website didn't show any available beds, but Hostelbookers showed an available bed. Probably best to call the hostel about availability. A £10 key deposit or photo ID is required. Best to leave an ID that is NOT your passport. There's a weird curfew where the front door is locked outside the hours of 7am to 2:30am. As for the negatives...the 10-bed mixed dorm room was too small. There was no underbed storage space. When everyone has their backpacks down and their crap spread out, it left very little floor space. Only one power strip in the room which was always filled with phones needing charging. No lockers in the room. You can store your valuables with the reception desk. However when I tried to retrieve something after midnight, the person on duty didn't have the key so I had to wait in the morning to get it back. Only two toilets on the floor. And one of them wasn't in service due to no one removing the painting equipment inside. The kitchen was crowded around dinner times. When the hostel is fully booked, as it was when I was there, the kitchen is just too small to handle the capacity. Overall, I would've enjoyed the hostel more if it weren't fully booked.

Okay, here we go. The hostel is quite clean, and endeavors to keep it that way. There is a modest kitchen with most of the amenities, free WiFi, an available breakfast, a helpful staff, and options for longer lodging if you need it. There is also a laundry service available for a modest fee. In addition to a knowledgable staff, there are also several maps, booklets for tourism, and pamphlets for attractions available in several languages. One note: There is limited parking. If you are driving in to see Inverness, you may want to call ahead.

The battle field has red and blue flag. That indicates the line of the either side army. The blue indicates the Scottish Jacobite. The red flag is government. The Scottish is very good on the highland charge. But the battle field is disadvantaged to the highland charge due to boggy mood that slow down the charge. In addition, the government is out number the Scottish. Many Scottish give their life here. We enjoy the time here to learn the history. The visit needs 2 hours.

Excellent place who go well above and beyond for service. Had a mix up with taxis and their SafeCab…read moreapp and they called and got it squared away in minutes. We left early for planned events a couple times and they brought breakfast to our room at 6am and wanted to at 3am when we left for the airport. Had a bad day so they gave us a couple flasks of whiskey. The area is historic and beautiful. They warned us that while Uber shows it was there, they are not and they charge, then never show up. The only thing I could say was a little disappointing was no AC so we kept the windows opened as it was cool enough and they advertised a small fridge but they had none. Lastly, we prepaid for breakfast but if you wanted something other than a Scottish breakfast, you had to pay for it like waffles or pancakes. Other than that, a perfect stay.
