My masseuse was the opposite, similar to what one reviewer on here Erica said, the masseuse went through the motions. I thought she was easing into it, but it never got better. She didn't massage the shoulders, or back much at all, and spent a lot of time rubbing the body, my scalp, and putting little effort into anything, The best way to describe it was if someone was just learning to massage, or just decided to give up for the day, but she's clearly been working there for a while given she ran the front desk too. Anyways, won't be coming back, if the business knows who she is, consider firing her because she will ruin your ability to get new customers and cause friction with existing ones. It only takes one bad experience to lose business, especially with so many other options nearby and in SF.

Joy has created an environment that is conducive for relaxing; from the warm massage table, to the soft relaxing music, to the essential oils she uses to relax your senses while she "works" on relaxing tension throughout your body. You don't need to tell her where you feel pain. While you're thinking she's massaging you, she is actually spending the first few minutes "getting to know" your body's situation. And you will be amazed at how accurate she is when she tells you where you are having issues. With Joy, you need not ask for deep tissue or effleurage or any other modality. She is experienced in all the massage techniques and more. She uses dry brushing, cupping, percussion tool, in addition to her masterful hands. If you are open, she can also explain how your body pains are connected to your emotions and other possible sources that you can work on to better help you heal yourself. If you let her, Joy can be your partner in healing yourself and your body. I highly recommend Relaxing with Joy. She is a masterful holistic healer of the body through soft tissue manipulation (as opposed to a plain massage). I always look forward to my sessions.
