Stopped by here after we went to Santa Monica, and they were able to seat our party of 6 instantly so we went with it. We were seated outside and it was very nice. The service was also very nice and friendly. You order through their tablet on the table which is pretty nice, I personally don't mind it and think it makes it easier so you don't gotta wave people down or interrupt them. Our group some mimosas / cocktails and they were delivered pretty quickly. The food came out soon after. I felt like the French toast was pretty ok, very normal, nothing special for a French toast but it was solid. This was my first shakshuka tho and it was very good, nice warm and filling. The menu was pretty Interestring with lots of American breakfast classics but then also had shakshuka and curry and Mexican dishes. Overall it was great!
Came here for an afternoon pick me up around 1pm on a Friday after walking around the promenade. It was not busy when we arrived so we were seated right away. Since my friend and I had just eaten, we just ordered a couple drinks. Upon walking up, the place had some outdoor seating and some indoor seating with a couple high chair tables inside. The vibes were very cute. Simple yet sleek. We loved the hanging plants. They have 1 all gender restroom for customers only that can only be accessed with a code via keypad. All the tables had tablets with touchscreens to see the menu with photos to order. Looking through the menu, the prices of everything seemed a bit steep but I can tell they use quality ingredients. I got a matcha latte with oat milk and my friend decided to try the sook (mugwort) latte. My matcha latte was delicious. You can taste the good quality matcha without any sweeteners. The sook latte was new to us and we were curious to see how it tasted. Our server was very kind to explain it and felt that if we liked matcha that we would enjoy the sook latte. And after tasting it, we really enjoyed it. It had a good earthy flavor with some hints of vanilla. My friend felt that she enjoyed it much more than matcha and wanted to know what brand of tea they used. The manager was kind enough to share that the mugwort tea was a blend that the house chef grew and put together themself so there was not a specific brand they used. The location is very close to the beach and the promenade so there was some transients outside walking around and parking can be tough but if you're in the area and looking for a cute cafe I'd recommend trying out this place. Also, if you do stop by, don't forget to check in for a chocolate molten cookie.
Cute little spot by the pier! The interior is clean, has lots of pothos plants, and the small space surprisingly does fit a good amount of tables. There's also outdoor seating which looked super comfy! We stopped by hoping to grab breakfast, but their food was a little expensive so we opted for just coffee & hot chocolate instead. Wait time was very minimal! Both drinks were good and the quality of the cups were great.
Had another wonderful brunch here! I love how the menu changes. I had the best shakshuka here! The beef bowl I'd pass on, but I wanted to note that the flavor of the shakshuka was so rich and delicious. The service was also quick and casual. The ocean view is stellar as always.
I recently went with my girlfriend and tried the chicken curry katsu. We both really the flavor of the curry and thought all the flavors blended together. The chicken was also crispy so that was very nice! It was a a cute restaurant and service was rather quick, but I can see how it would be awkward for a first timer going alone.
My friend and I went to Santa Monica for the day, wanted a lunch place. The restaurant is tiny with both indoor outdoor seating. Make reservations on Resy if you want a guaranteed table and time. We came on a Monday at 10:45 a.m. and all the tables were occupied shortly after we sat outside. Intrigued by the lunch menu, A little disappointed, our reservation time was still in the brunch hour. The menu is very different. Service was OK. We sat for a bit without a menu, got the attention of a women who look annoyed when I ask her for a menu. Jordy came over, service was a little better. We had to ask if they served alcohol. We ordered Bloody Mary's to start, which were delicious. Breakfast entrees ordered were the Breakfast Burrito and the Shakshuka. When the food came out it was hot. My Shakushuka was impressive and excellent. The burrito was OK, just that. I will say this place though food was good, the prices are really inflated, $19 for a burrito on a plate, that's it. Mine was $25. Was it worth a revisit at those prices? Sorry no. Atmosphere: cute and small. Service: OK. Food: good but $$$
Quick pit stop before the beach. Chill vibes, kind servers. The food was fine, though nothing exceptional. I appreciated the option to add truffle slices to the dishes. Had the sunrise breakfast. The salad was quite good, and perfectly dressed. The scrambled egg was a tad overcooked but had a nice mild savory flavor. Crispy bacon hit the spot, too.
I came to LA (and spent half a day in Santa Monica) for vacation and to visit my college friends who live in the area. We came to SM for some surfing and before we did that, we wanted to make sure we had some energy. My friend loves the MOVIE Interstellar and thought the pictures for Interstellar looked really good. We really enjoyed the food we got (see photos!). The ingredients were really fresh and I would be happy to eat here and each of the items we got again. The inside is small, and since the weather is really nice, we opted to sit outside. There were about 8 tables outside. It's really cute and we felt so bougie eating brunch here on a random weekday (also surprised there were so many people on a weekday morning - all 8 tables outside were taken). There is only one bathroom and sometimes during our visit, there were like 5 people waiting for the bathroom. The service was okay - I think she was the only one working all the tables so it was a little hard to get her attention at times. Also, the prices were a little steep. I think the overall VALUE is not quite a 5-star for me, and so between value and service, I took off a star. For people on the fence about coming, I would still recommend this place - I think the food will not disappoint!!
Parking: Plenty of Santa Monica public garage parking structures nearby. Experience: We arrived around 12:45 with a group of 6. The restaurant isn't very big, but the hostess kindly made it work by combining 3 tables on the small front patio. Food: Everything on the menu sounded good and it covered all kinds of cuisine. I got the chicken katsu sando. it was really good but kind of expensive even for LA prices - $26 for a small sandwich. If you're looking for a good option near the pier, would recommend.
Tasty molten chocolate chip cookie and matcha latte in a great location by the beach. Food prices were a little steep for a cafe, but options looked great. I was pleased with my matcha and enjoyed my cookie. The place was cute and a nice little stop for me.
So, we totally came across this place through happenstance, and I'm so glad we did. Our hotel had a power outage, so instead of having breakfast there, we decided to explore the town and stumbled upon Interstellar. The place was small, but it had a fantastic design and a vibrant atmosphere. Despite not having a reservation, we only had to wait a short while before getting seated. We found a cozy spot at a table inside. I started my meal with a matcha latte. It was unsweetened but had a great flavor. Honestly everything on the menu sounded delicious, so it was hard to choose, but I ended up going with the french toast and fruit. I'm not even a huge french toast fan, but it was absolutely incredible and loaded with fresh fruit. It was the perfect balance of carb-y and refreshing, and was sooo good. If we had been here longer I definitely would've visited again to try out more of their menu!
Had the most incredible ricotta toast here! It's a quaint little coffee shop minimal seating area with great food options. Good: - Lots of food options - Good coffee and ricotta toast was great size portion - Cozy place for catching up and a modern aesthetic - Fast service Bad: - Expensive end Overall I was a big fan of this brunch spot!
Cut and pasted from Yelp's "From The Business." "Interstellar: the space between the two stars. These two stars represent our two cultures, American and Korean." Quality/Quantity - Avocado Toast - Generous quantity. Well done. Personally I would have preferred a little less arugula. Fresh Ricotta Toast with House Jam - Jam was on the side which actually made the dish even better. We cut this into small pieces and ate it as an appetizer. Oyakodon - Over-sauced, but good flavors and good quantity. Had no left overs. Korean Galbi Bowl - Good flavors, but light on quantity. We could have eaten much more of this. Spicy Cajun Shrimp Bowl - 6 pieces of HUGE shrimp. Had to be at least size 16 or lower! Good flavors, slight kick. But again, over-sauced. Chicken Katsu Curry - Got two entrees of this; good to know our guests have the same taste, LOL. This had the most generous quantity. Dessert - Honey butter toast. Wow, you can really taste the butter in this dish. It was a hit. Glad we shared as it was a fairly good size. Atmosphere - Indoor/outdoor seating. Outdoor dog friendly. Cool modern decor, including the bathroom. Parking garages nearby, first 90 minutes free. But if you pass the 90 minutes, you are paying for the entire time! Service - Good. Except our dishes all came out as they made it. So fresh out of the kitchen, but because we have manners and waited for all the dishes to arrive before eating, the first dishes were cold by the time the last dish came out. My suggestion is to get a warming station and bring out the entire party's food at the same time. Price - Our guest paid again... This is the only person in my life that I can not out maneuver to pay!!! I do NOT think I have paid once going out with them. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2020
Enjoyed a nice lunch at this beachside eatery! Originally the plan was to grab a breakfast here, but seeing the sights took up some time and ended up getting during lunch time. Decided to enjoy the Chicken Katsu Curry, (I have been sampling these dishes all across the country on this trip) and I will say for not being a Japanese restaurant, it was really good! Now the thing about the actual chicken breading, it was unlike the Katsu's I am familiar with, but still delicious. Typically Katsu will have crispier breading but it is all good! The rice was perfect and the actual curry gravy was packed with flavor. The outdoor seating arrangement was very nice and today was a great day for it. I will be back and hopefully be on time to enjoy the breakfast! read more
Went on a Friday afternoon (around 1pm?), seated promptly. Servers were attentive, friendly. Prices may seem a tad steep for certain dishes, tbh Ordered - chicken katsu sando: love! And quite filling. They use ginza nishikawa shokupan which is potentially my favorite bread in all of LA! - Cajun shrimp bowl: so so so spicy. It wasn't just me either, my friend thought so too as did the gentleman from the other table. Friend and I didn't end up finishing the bowl because it was just TOO spicy for us! Beware! - garlic fries: excellent fries- thin, crisp. Just the way I like it. Had to pick up the garlic parts bc otherwise you didn't get a lot of garlic flavor from just the fry - orange almond latte: good coffee but very sweet (which is to my tastes but I know not for everyone). The orange is not overpowering Will have to be back to try some of the other stuff! Parking around the corner in one of the Santa Monica public garages, they're free for the first 90 minutes. read more

Finally got to try this cute spot on Ocean blvd in Santa Monica. We came here for brunch after doing a pilates class on the pier. This is a quaint little restaurant with Asian fusion-inspired dishes. The service and our server was fantastic! The review is specifically for the one dish I had (3 of 4 people in our group got the same dish lol) - the breakfast truffle linguine. The pasta came out fresh and hawt! It's a pretty heavy dish for breakfast, and will definitely fill you up after a hard workout! The sauce is creamy and has a spicy kick to it. Mixed in are crispy bacon pieces and a very generous portion of black truffles. The dish is topped with a perfectly poached egg. It's definitely a dish to splurge on!! read more
Food was fantastic and 100% worthy of 5 stars! However outside seating was kind of gross, spiderweb and dirt next to table that was extremely wobbly and a little dirty as well. Wait staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The waffles were wonderful and the fruit, syrups, and Whipped butter were super flavorful. The Shakshuka had great flavor and presentation. I hated not going 5 stars because the food was so good! Buy the cleanliness was rough. read more

Overall a nice restaurant that is close to the beach. I do think the food is pretty overpriced. Most of the food was good, their Greek salad was really fresh and I loved the berry waffles that I got for my daughter . My latte looked pretty but wasn't the best tasting and the club sandwich was also not my favorite. This place has high chairs for your baby and is dog friendly which is a plus read more

It's a small restaurant but has a nice atmosphere. The menu is extensive. But overpriced. Pasta with egg was $34 and chicken katsu curry was too salty. Brunch with mimosa, melon cream soda (bottled can), cod roe pasta with egg, and chicken katsu curry, total over $100. Too expensive. read more

Food: 3.5/5 The katsu was okay. The fried part kept coming apart of the chicken and it was definitely lacking flavor in my opinion. The curry was better than the chicken. They say its japanese curry but even then the flavor was lacking in my opinion. The coffee was solid. Service: 3/5 It was pretty average. The server seemed tired, I dont blame him but felt like he cared more about talking to the other servers more than serving me. Vibe 4/5 The vibe is pretty cool. I really enjoyed the plants and the modern interior. Price: 2/5 28 dollar for this katsu dish is not worth it. I paid 40 bucks for coffee and this katsu dish after tax and tip. For my experience that is way too much. I think its more worth around 25-30. So many great katsu spots you can get a katsu for 20 bucks read more

Finally tried after reading and hearing about all the hype. I have to be honest this place was just...OKAY. Vibe: Cool space much smaller than I thought but the ambiance was welcoming. Food: Okay here is my negative. This food is expensive! I glanced through the menu and saw things like $24 for avocado toast, $60 for ribeye and eggs, $20 for a breakfast burrito...SHEESH. I ended up getting the Chicken Katsu Curry. Very nice presentation! The food itself was good not great. Meal Breakdown: Katsu - okay texture, could've been more crispier. The crunch was a bit muted as if it was previously frozen. Seasoning was decent but it could've used a bit more. Rice - good. Fluffy and cooked well. Really soaked up the curry. Curry - A bit on the sweet & floral side but it was decent. I was definitely full by the end of it but it definitely wasn't worth $20+ Coffee - Ordered an iced oat latte. Decent. Service: Staff was super nice and welcoming. Our waiter spilled our coffee on the way over - like quite a bit on the table and didn't clean it. We thought it was funny and cleaned it ourselves after we noticed he didn't come back. I do have to say he was nice and holding down the fort by himself so it's no knock on him. Parking: 90 minutes free if you park in Garage 6 Overall, this place was decent but price point for mediocre food probably won't have me back. Especially since there are better options nearby. read more

I usually don't trek out to the west side but came for brunch one day and it was so delicious! The food was well done; I had the katsu sando w a bottle of Prosecco which was perfect. A friend ordered chicken and waffles but the chicken was like katsu and the waffle was savory and lowkey I was a little mad I didn't order it for myself but luckily she didn't finish it hehe. Everything we ordered was like 10/10. The vibe was pretty chill, aside from the fact that it's off the boulevard where the pier is, so it's kinda busy, but after a bottle of wine you don't really notice. read more
Loved the vibe here and their staff was super friendly. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. They weren't bad but there was nothing special to them specially for the price. The range was around $25 or more per plate and I just think it wasn't worth it. read more

The food and coffee here is fantastic. I got a latte that was delicious. The food is fresh and tasty. It's really expensive, but they're paying for the great location. Only negative.. Don't get the Bloody Mary. It tasted like straight up hot sauce inside the glass. My husband could barely drink any of it. read more
We came here on super bowl Sunday to have breakfast with friends visiting LA. We knew that we had to step-up our game and show them the best of California. Luckily, Interstellar left us more than fully satisfied. We started off by trying their coffee which was amazing; my latte had the perfect notes of quality coffee in a sea of milk. For food, we ordered the chilaquiles, shakshouka, and fried chicken and waffles. We loved absolutely everything but I would say that the chilaquiles is a must-try! We didn't book ahead but instead joined the virtual waitlist on Yelp and were seated right on time. The service was magnificent, with very friendly waiters and manager. The ambiance is lovely and the space is small but full of radiant energy. This might be one of my favorite spots in LA. I cannot wait to be back!! read more

This is where we stopped as soon as we got off of the plane, and that was such a good choice! It ended up being the best meal we ate on our 10 day CA trip. Everything is a win here. The servers are sweethearts, the food is out of this world, the ambiance is chill and relaxing, the drinks were great too! I loved my chilaquiles, my husband had an amazing CA style breakfast burrito, kids ate the entirely of a huge waffle with fruit, syrup and maple butter. The pink mimosa (me) and charming hot chocolate (daughter) were so perfectly executed. I regret that we didn't eat here again before getting on the plane to go back home. read more

The place is super cute. I loved the food options and that they had coffee and pastries The avocado toast wasn't my fave but for the ricotta cheese lovers out there, it's the way to go! I wish they had more avocado on it, but regardless the presentation was fabulous and it was filling! The coffee was also great. I will deff be going back and trying some of the other options that are popular! read more
Had a beautiful brunch outside with friends. The location is perfect if you want to sit by the beach or pier. I had the chicken katsu curry with a poached egg and it was a massive serving. Had tons of leftovers. It was a little sweet, not very spicy, and the onions were a nice touch, the chicken itself was perfectly crispy and cooked well. Everyone said they loved their food and coffee. read more
Amazing food and even better bloody marys! Got the breakfast burritos with potatoes and it was absolutely delicious, their salsa was flavorful and their bloody mary was one of the best I've had the mix they make is so good! The embodiment of my ideal aesthetic and ambience! Super cute joint in the heart of Santa Monica. The space is small and cozy, gorgeous but also inviting and not pretentious at all. Fronds of pothos hang and sway from above the bar and minimally designed neon signs and round mirrors frame the walls -- the branding is so consistent and cohesive. I love that it's both a cafe-style brunch place and a dinner cocktail sort of affair as well. Service is really fast and good! We came with reservations for 7PM, but I don't think they were necessary for dinner (this place seems more popular as a brunch place and it's FCFS before 3PM). The food is pricey here, a fair word of warning. Most of the bowls ranged from high 20s to low 30s, which honestly was not super surprising given the quality of ingredients (truffle! Prime rib! DOP Parmesan!) and the proximity to the pier. Still, it is a pretty penny to pay. Cocktails were cute in concept but taste wise pretty run of the mill. I needed a caffeine pick me up too so I ordered a breve latte, which was delicious -- would honestly come back again just for coffee!! The food was delicious as well. My prime rib was tender and yummy but the real star of the show was my friends linguine, which was so flavorful and creamy. The truffle really shone through. Would highly recommend that! Next time I would want to try the oyakodon. Parking was easy at one of the 90 min free lots + a 3 minute walk. read more

Place is shockingly expensive for a casual breakfast/brunch. It's like nice dinner prices for simple breakfast items. I think the cheapest thing on the menu was like $20 for a breakfast burrito. The ambiance is casual and cafe-like, so I was not expecting these prices. The shashuka was amazingly flavorful and super well cooked. It comes with delicious crispy bread. The server was very polite and had an amazingly calm air about him. Food and drinks came out pretty quickly. Good food, but probably wouldn't come back because of the prices. read more

I came here for brunch yesterday and it was only okay. There was a bit of a wait, but they called my cell phone when the table was ready, which was nice because we could browse the nearby shops in the meantime. Also, parking was easy because there was a big structure nearby with the first 90 minutes free, and the rates afterward were very reasonable (I think we paid about $2). The service was a bit slow, and they brought out each person's dish separately, which was awkward because my friends were almost done by the time I got my meal, and then they had to watch me eat. I ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg on top and I regret it. It only had salt and pepper on top of the egg, and I felt that the rest of it lacked seasoning and flavor. Avocado can be pretty bland without seasoning or lemon or lime juice, and I feel like adding those would have taken this to the next level. The burrata didn't really add much for me either. My friend ordered the ham and cheese croissant which looked way better, I would recommend that instead. Also, we got a side of fruit, which consisted of a large portion of strawberries, blueberries, and banana slices, topped with a bit of powdered sugar. That was probably my favorite part of the whole meal since it was all of my favorite fruits (I hate when restaurants only include melon/cantaloupe in their sides of fruit). Overall, I probably wouldn't come back, but if I did I would definitely order something different. read more

Conflicted with this spot. On one hand, it is a cute spot in downtown Santa Monica and the food/service was quite good. On the other hand, a turkey club sandwich was $24? Pretty insane pricing for what isnt a very premium sandwich. My waffle and chicken was similarly priced, but the waffle was excellent and the chicken katsu was actually one of the better katsus Ive had in the states. The chicken was juicy and tender and was a fairly large piece topping the waffle. For me and my friend I think we spent close to $80 for one item each and a drink after tax n tip. If you're gonna come here, at least get an item worth the insane cost. Not quite as insane as Catch LA but one of the bigger offenders in recent memory. read more
Came here for breakfast with some friends. Located right in the heart of Santa Monica, parking is easy in one of the big lots close by, first 90 min is free. I don't usually like to order waffles at restaurants because it usually ends up being made with a pancake batter that ends up dry and tough. This waffle was different. My go to waffle recipe is a yeasted waffle recipe from the Marion Cunningham and the Fanny Farmer cookbook. They are light, crispy, and have a ton of flavor from the overnight yeasted rise. These waffles are very reminiscent of that recipe. Light, fluffy, crispy thin crust on the outside and tons of flavor. Possibly the best waffle ive had eating out. Eggs over easy were also perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast in Santa Monica read more

A Korean and American restaurant by the Santa Monica Beach. The dishes are rather expensive for the portion received. I had gotten a shakshuka as a breakfast dish, but perhaps would have liked one of the Asian bowls more. ----- Shakshuka: harissa tomato marinara, nuoc mam cilantro, three eggs, melted mozzarella, jalapeño sauce, toast ($27). I liked the uniqueness of the jalapeno sauce. The eggs were more on the fried and soft side rather than poached with a runny yolk. Although I do like cheese, I found the amount too heavy, especially when it started to solidify as the dish cooled down. The two slices of toast were thick and crunchy. ----- Drip Coffee (No Refills): brewed coffee with Southern Weather Blend by Onyx ($3.75). The coffee was good enough with just the cream and did not need any sugar. ----- Orange + Maple: espresso + almond milk + maple syrup + orange extract + cocoa powder (ice only) ($6.75). ----- Reservations can only be made for the afternoon and evening. The place was full shortly after their Saturday opening. A couple of tables are available out front. read more
We found this place because it's pet friendly and we had our dog with us. They have amazing customer service! I really enjoyed my sweet and spicy katsu burger which I highly recommend! I also tried the Greek salad which was very tasty as well. We met the owner, David, and he's super friendly. Im really happy they were able to make it through the pandemic. If you're ever in the area definitely check this place out! read more

I have never been here before but it has nice vibes inside. The inside itself is kinda smaller, but it's really cute. The breakfast croissant was really good! 8/10 The waffles were mid. 6.5/10 I don't think I would order the waffles again. Unfortunately I forgot what the pasta was called but it had a hint of spice and it was REALLY good. 9.5/10 and I would highly recommend it! It was really nice and creamy too read more

Absolutely love this place. I admit I was first hesitant to come here due to their prices, but honestly the dishes blow me away. Their Cajun shrimp bowl is actually spicy, but in an addictive way. I wouldn't recommend it to those who are weak to spice because the burn does linger but it's truly my favorite dish on the menu. Large portion sizes too :) We also tried their truffle pasta and their short rib bowl, both of which were amazing in their own ways. Each dish is packed with flavor and you can tell they really thought out which ingredients to put in, as it all just flows together so well! Love the free drip coffee that comes with check in, plus it comes in the cutest cups. We also tried their specialty lattes which were interesting. The outdoor seating is great on a nice day and good to people watch, but I also liked the decor of their indoor seating! One of my favorite brunch spots in Santa Monica that is actually worth the high cost of brunch! read more

They don't accept reservations for brunch. They do turn tables over pretty quickly, but I would try to get there earlier in the morning to minimize your wait time (especially if you have a larger group).
